  • Will the chip prevent it yo be used for other usbc devices eg Samsung phones?

The cable will work as a standard USB-C cable for non-Huawei SuperCharge phones. Not much point getting this if you're not a Huawei user.

  • wow, a 5A legacy USB cable.

I bought these last time on the free for all and while they work, they do not fast charge Samsung S8. Plus took ages to arrive.i just guessed they should be fast but no cigar..

    • +5

They're made for Huawei SuperCharge. Samsung use Adaptive Fast Charge (Quick Charge 2.0) so it's completely different technology and thus not compatible.

      • Oops. Bought 5 from the last deal and still haven't tried them with my S8 yet. Oh well, they'll still come in handy as spare cables if needed.

        • Give them a shot and see if it'll fast charge. You won't get 5A but it still might do the QC speeds.

        • same here, I have LG, have found the blitzwolf USB-C cables to be the best so far and they are usb 3 so fast for data transfer also and does QC3…. but costs 3x as much :-(

          • @garage sale: Yeah I've got a whole stash of Blitzwolf cables, they're my favourite by far too. They might be more expensive but they go on sale often and they've lasted so I'm happy to pay a bit more for quality. Plus they're still great value, especially considering I paid $40 for one 2m cable from JB HiFi before I found out about Blitzwolf lol.

          • @garage sale: they have usb 3 ones?

      • Yes, took the punt and it didn't work out for fast charge, but great spare cable. Considering i will use the 2 i bought with numerous things, they are great to have

  • One of the best made USB-A to USB-C cables!
Chongdiantou teardown showing the super thick 18AWG power core

  • This includes the p20 pro?

They only super charge with the Huawei supplied super charger. So you need to use this with the right charger too, it's a bit convoluted really. You can do quick charging but not super charging.

    • guess you are buying future proofing incase you get a Huawei phone, and until then its QC3.

QC is Qualcomm technology, Huawei came up with their own tech so they don't have to pay for QC license or chips. It's also why PC usb ports won't QC …intel won't pay Qualcomm royalties and so you get USB-C ports on new PCs instead.

USB-C standards allow higher voltages and currents so hopefully more phones will go standards based…if you can charger a laptop with USB-C, you can easily charge a phone ….

      • Are you saying it will work for regular QC3 fast charging? Thanks

  • benson approved?

    • Benson stopped reviewing cables years ago so he's irrelevant these days. Besides most proprietary charging technologies break USB standards so it would be pointless to even review it.

This will SuperCharge a Huawei device fine as it's designed to. If it's plugged into a non-Huawei SuperCharge device it will revert to the standard 5V/3A max.

  • They never deliver.. fraud people

Bought some in the last deal - took 3 months to arrive…3 f**king months
    No thanks

    • So are you angry that they arrived?

      • Yeah mate, that's exactly what i was saying…

    • Not sure why this comment is downvoted. Thank you for sharing your experiences.

    • The 2m one I ordered on 1st September and sent on the 10th just arrived today. That's 10 weeks and 3 days!

It quick charges my ZTE Axon 7 though.

  • Very good quality cables, I bought some locally though for $5ish so <$2 is a bargain.

  • Reading the zapals page again I'm now having second thoughts about this cable, no where it was mentioned the brand is Huawei, although pictures all resemble the original Huawei 5A cable. Could be just a generic knockoff? Guess I will find out the specs are true once receiving it

    • I don't have a Huawei to test it on but the 2m one does quick charge my ZTE Axon 7.

I got an original Huawei cable (orignal box, holoseals etc) for $2.99 USD at AliExpress back in March, the price is now $2.38 USD

The difference is so little I'd rather pay the tiny bit extra.

    • And that cable will only be aud$3.02 in a few days when the Ali sale starts.

  • +1

I received the cable 3 weeks after placing the order.
Definitely not a genuine Huawei Cable, comparing to original huawei cable, it's more stiff, roughly same thickness, cheaper connectors.
Test with a Huawei 4.5V5A SCP charger and the cable can actually do super charging at 4A+ like the original cable. Resistance is measured to be slightly higher than the original Huawei 18AWG cable.

    • Still waiting for mine to arrive!

      • still waiting as well.
