Hey guys,

COTD is selling Beats By Dr. Dre Studio HD Headphones for $329 + $8.95 postage.

Harvey Norman sells them fro $499 and the Apple Store sells them for $499.95 (according to their websites respectively).

I have seen the reviews of these headphones in past and it seems as though they are pretty good headphones but not the best out there and some people think it isn't worth the $499. So buying it at $329 is a bit more justifiable.

If you're into the looks and big brands and want to stand out or your fully into your music - then these are the headphones you wanna be seen with!

Dr. Dre approved… perfect for an aspiring DJ, producer or music fanatic!

Artists and producers spend countless hours fine-tuning and mixing music to get it exactly how they want their fans to hear it. But the vast majority of headphones can’t accurately reproduce the intricacies produced in the studio. Simply put, these Beats studio headphones can. With precision-engineered advanced speaker design, powered amplification, and powered noise cancellation, you hear music the way today’s top artists and producers want you to hear it.

Features:

  • Monster Headphone Cable - perfectly balanced sound and extreme clarity
  • Extreme soft cushion comfort

lol aren't these POS headphones - just fancy marketing as usual?

    • +1

right on. It uses a Monster cable, enough said.

Pretty much sums it up yeah… Up there with Skullcandy.

    • They are actually quite decent headphone, possibly a little over priced.
I was suprised when i found out they were made by Monster = /

      • Compared to what, Apple earphones?

    • LOL nice!

But the price is still better than other places.

you've always got to think, would you rather pay more for the quality of service, or pay less and get it slower with poorer service. In the event that you get jibbed you can just complain.

I mean, if you're willing to buy it at the cheaper price from cotd, then you know you'll be waiting for 2-3 weeks, and this is your choice. I personally don't mind it, but if you do, then don't even bother buying it.

all in all, what I'm trying to say is that the price of this is good enough and that people shouldn't be voting most, if not all cotd deals negative.

From what I've read spending the money on a pair of sennheiser headphones would be a better investment.

    • +2

Definitely. Pretty much any Sennys in that price range will be a better choice.

    • +1

      ath-m50 tyvm =)

      • wise choice sir :D

  • +3

IMHO there are so many better headphones or iems for the money.

  • And for anyone interested in some Dr Dre light reading

    • +2

      Uh-uh, temper, temper..

I've compared this headphone with Bose QC series, the built quality on Dr. Dre is kinda plasticky and poor. I'd say Bose QC series sound quality is better than Dr. Dre. I'd choose Bose QC over this with about same prices.

Recommending one overpriced brand over another one. =/
Go some Audio Technica or Sennheiser.

So if you pay the RRP you're paying $489 for a Monster cable and getting a $10 set of headphones, but your rationale this bargain means you're only paying $319 for the cable? No thanks.

  • Boom Boom Pow headphones.

  • +1

    What?? Tell 'em theyre dreamin'

  • +2

Good luck getting warranty from buying it at a non official reseller.

Dont waste your money on these crap headphones. Go get yourself a pair of Sennheiser HD555 from JBHIFI. Best headphones ever.

  • Overpriced rubbish. I'd never buy anything from Monster.

I feel sorry for the people who walk around with these on. It's just marketing.

If you're spending this kind of money look at Headphones.com.au & get some real h'phones, check the forums too. Personally I'd look at Audio Technica.

  • are you guys sure the quality of dr dre isnot good? i tried at harveynorman and wow, the bass is so big and great.
well, im novice in headphone and i think the dr dree is nice, i have small ear and i dont like big cup headphone like Sennheiser HD555 - it looks funny on my head (and loose on my ear)!

so, can anyone suggest other good headphone with small ear cup (just like dr dre ones)? thanks
nb. i prefer good bassees, im a harddance trance fans :)

    • Visit headphones.com.au forums.

It depends what you want; to think you look cool (laughed at in public) or good sound quality.

  • +1

Monster and bargain are antonyms. Go get some decent Audio Technica or Sennheiser and enjoy real quality.

  • +1

terrible headphones. Go find some better ones for a lot cheaper.
Unless you buy headphones to "look cool" instead of for listening to music

  • +2

Club or radio DJ's would not use this brand. Enough said.

PS i've negged only cos its on COTD :P

  • Lol no one looks cool with headphones. Very few actually look good AND sound great. Sennheiser HD555 looks good, but i still look like an ass wearing it. i dont care.

    • You wear open headphones in public - ughh I'd hate sitting near you on a bus or train.

  • any 1 know how the fake ones sound compare to real ones?

    • +1

i personally bought a fake pair off ebay for $45, i prob knew they were fakes, but damm they sound nice. the bass is amazing. i wouldnt be suprised if the materials didnt come out of the same suppliers as the monster headphones.
i have a pair of yuin PK3 and the dre tours really blow em out of the water.
having said that, i rarely use them, i dont like how the thick cord makes thumping sounds when you move the cord whilst walking.

      http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1411650#

    • Yeah, the fake ones sound better.

      • sound better!(in terms of value) ;)

  • I bought a pair of these instore at Walmart over a year ago for US$270. At that price they were great value, good headphones. But the prices in this country are ridiculous, you can get better brands for that much money. But for what i paid they are an excellent, good quality headphone and the bass drive is amazing.
