upvoted for the effort to get the price down!

  • Zero store pick up options (as of posting this) in Melbourne :(

+1 well done OP! Appreciate the effort mate!

Closing in on Black Friday, might be worth holding out for 2 weeks

    • +2

Ill be waiting out for Black Friday as deals should get much better and have some games bundled in..

    Is this Sony’s new PS4 Pro (CHU-7200)?
Fan noise has dropped from between 50 and 55dB for the launch PS4 Pro model to between 44 and 48dB for the updated model.

    • Do you know what model # the launch models are?

      • +1
        • CUH-7000 was the launch model
        • CUH-7100 was the first revision (2017)
        • CUH-7200 is the latest revision (uses two prong power cord)

First two digits (70xx, 71xx, 72xx) of a bundle typically identify the PS4-Pro model.

        • -2

Which one has the lower hackable firmware?

        • How does the CUH-7100 series match up in terms of noise?

EDIT: Does anyone have feedback of playing RDR2 on the CUH-7100 series?

          • +1

@purelycheap: Yes, mines only really loud when loading the game. And sometimes if I leave it paused for a long time it will whirrr up once or twice

    • +1

The new one only currently comes in the Red Dead 2 bundle afaik.

      • So we should hold off? How much noisier is it.

        • +1

Noticeably, according to Digital Foundry. But check the comments below. Apparently other people are getting the latest Pro model from Big W without a bundle.

    • +1

Oooooh that's interesting. My pro is like a jet engine

    • +3

FYI, I got a PS4 Pro from Big W 15/10 and I can confirm that it's the CUH-7200 model (IIRC, specifically it's the CUH-7202B). Just plain PS4 Pro in black, no bundle.

    • +2

The newer model is quieter, but it runs a bit warmer. Basically, minor tweaks, rather than proper re-design. Apparently, CHU-7200 uses the figure 8 power plug, rather than the computer like power plug.

      • The next revision will possibly reduce the fab (nm) to 14nm (or smaller), but may see an updated Slim first. This should mean the CPU runs cooler.
I'd really like to see a 4K blu-ray drive included.

  • That's unusual, why did my heading change to a higher price?

    • +1

I updated to exclude Wish card discount and Woolworths points in the calculation of price in the title, as it's the same principle as receiving Cashback.

      • +1

Thank you. Some of us don't have time for wish cards and Woolworth points.

    • +2

probably because that's the most realistic, tangible price.

the lower price is just accounting tricks.

  • That's fair enough, didn't know that rule; but you're right you could take it further and further.
I've always liked the idea of triple stacking discounts; you could quadruple stack by including the points on your credit card (card dependant) for buying the discounted eGift card too - but that would just sound ridiculous.. :)

    • +4

But did you minus transport cost in the price if you go to pick up? Or time costs? Or the cost on the body for physically handling the product? :P

  • If this is the new 72 revision i’ll be very tempted as I cant handle the fan noise on my OG white PS4 while playing RDR2.

    • -1

I also want to play R2D2 - oh sorry, I thought this was Star Wars!

    • +1

Did you take advantage of RDR2 gold bar glitch?

      https://www.ordinaryreviews.com/2018/10/31/red-dead-redempti…

Need to disable auto save first and need to repeat the process for every 30 gold bars. Might ruin the game a bit (since you don't need to worry about money in the game for a while). Still a bit time consuming if you want to repeat the process. Obviously, need to unlock fence first (otherwise cannot sell the gold bars).

      • +5

Does this make the PS4 quieter?

        • Yes, you spend less time earning money, which translates to less time on PS4 Pro for RDR2.

If you really can't stand the noise, disable PS4 Pro boost mode.

    • Even the x has a bit of noise when playing rdr2..

  • +1

So $399 was the lowest this PRO got to on an Amazon Au sell early this year or last year…. Was older version though?

    When is PS5 DUE?

    • Dec 2019

    • PS3 came out in 2006, PS4 2013. So PS5, Christmas 2020?

  • why is it advertised as a bundle on the website? is the controller a bonus or something?

  • Hmm. Wish we could see that Amazon deal again. I'd be willing to wait for $399

  • I tried to go through and simulate the buying experience after 5pm today- but there is nowhere to enter a WW Rewards Card Number that I saw.

Is it perhaps a link you must click through on the WW REwards site … or?

    • In checkout
      I can see it

      • Where? Is it on

        "1 delivery"
        "2 payment"
        "3 confirmation"

        ??

  • Has anyone got an error when trying to use the egift card? It came up with a ' Can not be used online' error message when trying to enter in the gift card number.

  • +1

    WORTH A MENTION
Shopback also sells Woolworths wish gift cards for a 5% discount but is also doing a $5 cashback when spending $100+ (after discount) for them saving an extra $5.

  • +1

Wait for the 23rd of November for Black Friday, prices will be surely better than this.

    • -2

Nah, wait for Christmas sales to save another $20. Or better still, next year when there will be a small price drop. In fact, better wait for the PS5. Not worth wasting an extra $50 for more days of entertainment till then.

      • The Black Friday sales are the best sales all year round. It's less than 2 weeks away..If you want to buy a PS4 this year that will be the best time to do so.

        • +1

People fret over a few cents way too much.

          • +1

@cnut: You honestly think it will be a few cents?

            • you're posting this on Ozbargain rofl.
          • @cnut: It's not even Black Friday yet:

            https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/416162

Perhaps don't open your mouth spouting rubbish next time.

            • @Viospeed: Oh wow. Look at those massive savings. So good that people waited.

Given that the game can be had from Sony for $50, exactly how much are you saving compared to the BigW price?

And I’m not disagreeing with you. Prices will likely be better as you said.

I just don’t share people’s mentality of waiting for the sake of milking every cent they can.

                • @Viospeed: No need for personal attacks mate.

  • +2

Will it ever be as low as $379 like Amazon AU had at one stage? > https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/391121

Holding off until Christmas or Black Friday deals. But nice find OP.

  • Want to get back to gaming and too lazy to build a gaming rig. Been looking for PS4 for a while and seems like a good deal, thanks.

    • Expired mate lol
