The issue between Fosters and Coles, is in fact exactly the same for this deal, so why don't we don't see Fosters pulling Asahi from GWD?

Meh, good deal, but i don't like asahi. Apparently it's better brewed in japan, but the stuff available in australia is brewed in thailand (or candad, i always get it mixed up with sapporo)
Try Asahi in aluminium bottles. It's made in Japan versus the glass bottle Thai product. See if you can taste a difference in double blind tests.
So this is really only useful if your Dan Murphy's or 1st Choice is within 10 kms of Getwinesdirect in Richmond, Melbourne.
I guess I'm out of luck living in regional Vic then.
Mikeypants, Try your local Dan Murphy, They should be able to match it. I don't live anywhere near Richmond and they have always priced matched.
Just went to Dan Murphy's Qv in the city, plenty of Asahi still on the shelves.

Love being in Melbourne! They will price match as long as you have the newspaper cut out basically anywhere in VIC. Asahi's are great guys, try em out.
There was only about half a dozen left at the Prahran Dan Murphy's. Interestingly, when I was up at the check out the guy at the till asked me if I would prefer to get Sol, Sapporo and some others I forget for $25 a slab instead. Anyone else had this offer??

Asahi is a Japanese company but the beer is manufactured around the world in several breweries. Asahi in glass bottles is made in Thailand for our market. However recently Asahi in aluminium bottles made in Japan has appeared at Dan Murphy's.
Yup, Japanese brand with "Imported" on the side doesn't necessarily mean Japanese.
The 'imported' Asahi we get here (mostly) is brewed in Thailand. Same with the 'imported' Sapporo - from Canada.

I was at dan murphy in sth Melbourne just after lunch time and there was ONLY two slabs left. The check out guy said "thats the last of them"!….I smell BS!!!….can;t handle the competition and probably hid the rest of the asahi stock. Bet ya come saturday there'll be plenty again. NO matter, went to 1st choice and they had heaps!. They got my business! lol. will be back there tomorrow for more of the good thing.
How is it competition. GWD are just deliberately pricing these low to generate a large loss for the other two giants…. You still end up paying for it in the end via higher pricing on the normal prices of items.

South Melbourne have none too. Basically all DM have none atm but many reckon they will get some 2-3PM today lol. I don't want to go to first choice, as I'm sure whichever company I buy off is basically selling these at a loss? So I want to go to DM!

Managed to get Corona last time from 1st Choice Toronga, they rang GWD just to confirm stock availability (no price match if no stock). BTW which 1st Choice store did you go?ascot vale. they have my respect!

Which stores were they (DM or 1st choice) and did they mention location?. It would be interesting though if it was DM because just last week their GM martin smith went on camera and said they were going to continue to price match as long as GWD was selling them at bargain basement. Maybe the fire is getting too hot in the kitchen. lol.

I went to Dan Murphy yesterday in Richmond and they said they Sold out of Asahi and they offered Sappora instead.
So I went there today and they had no Asahi or Sappora on the floor… I asked the checkout kid and he checked the computer and says.. we have a lot in storage and gave went to the back to get me a slab of Asahi… but wasn't too happy when I gave him the voucher.
Think Dan Murphy is just taking it off the floor so they don't have to honor it.
I also rang Wines direct and they said they are out of Asahi and Corona and offered Crown lager for it… which is $40 anyway… so what is the point.
I had better luck. Went to Dan murphy sth melbourne today and they had alot of asahi on the floor, which was a surprise because there wasn't any on wed or thurs. Bravo DM sth melbourne!
wtf! I finally found the ad but it was for Heineken instead? Valid til Sunday though so at least I can still get a decent deal :)
