Thanks OP, been waiting for a good price on one of these to replace my old HP.

  • Anyone used one of these with a stylus? Looking for a tablet to use with OneNote.

    • You can use a capacitive stylus on these, however it's pretty much the same as using your finger. Not accurate. What you need is something that has a digitizer that supports a stylus.

Got a couple of these for the kids last time. Great value and work really well. The screen quality is great - much better than expected.

  • Any android updates coming for these?

    • Highly unlikely.

      Custom Rom.

    • Most of the popular brands don’t update their devices so this would have zero chance.

      • Yeah, lenovo wants you to buy their new model instead, with worse specs, cheaper to manufacture, same retail price, better margins for them.

Thanks OP! Got one for my kid. Things were really painful using the iPad 2

Anyone looking for accessories I saw these at Ali Express. Combine with current 11% cashback using Shopback. Unsure of quality as I've just ordered these myself.

  • Has anyone resolved the annoying AF persistent 'too many apps auto start' notification issue.

Flash LineageOS, AEXMod or crdroid instead of the lame stock ROM. Search on XDA for background.

      • Is there a dummy version to read on how to install any of these? I've never done it before and reading the links didn't make me feel any more competent to do it exactly.

  • I heard the 4G coverage is quite bad. Anyone cares to rate it?

    • +2

Yeah, it's nearly useless. Poor reception on bands 1/3 and only seemed to work well on band 40 from the few times I've taken it to a city, but you have to be in a city to get that and depends on carrier. Plenty of times I've had strong B1 or 3 coverage on same carrier with my phone and the tablet will only see 3G, which has no data connection half the time and is slow the rest. I would not rely on it for anything, but is better than nothing with a cheap 1GB SIM like those Groupon Amaysim deals.

    • u know u can also get a 10.1 Phablet? i didn't until 2day while i was researching this 1..

  • +1

Thx OP, pulled the trigger… got 1 for my oldish mum (71) to use as a phone/tablet & 1 for my 10yo daughter (wont be using with a Sim tho)

  • Would this thing be better than a Nexus 10?

    • Nexus 10 is a 10" tablet, not an 8" Phablet, depends wot u use it for i suppose…

      • As a tablet.

        • +1

          At a quick glance i say Yes…

Better processor, dual cameras (8mp rear & 5mp front) & a later model..

But, you will lose 2" of screen..

U could search around for other tablets on GB.. I did notice though that the 10.1 Phablets seem cheaper than tablets, go figure.. Although i was only looking at the <$200 range..

          • @Bunsen: Would the 4g capability drop the battery life significantly even if not in use as opposed to a regular tablet?

            • +1

              @Ocelot102: depends wot u mean?

If no SIM is inserted, then u would be using WI-FI only, which would save a lot battery, if u mean 3G over 4G i doubt it would make much difference wot band it was using…

As a rule of thumb, i always disable things im not using, even on my phone ie. Location (GPS), bluetooth, WI-FI. That saves a lot of battery power for me…

Not buying a tablet again no matter how sensible a purchase they might seem. Bought a Teclast Master T8 that's barely seen any use. Also have a Lenovo Tab3 7 in the same boat.

I sit in bed using my phone rather than firing up a tablet, mainly because my phone is already powered up.

    • That's why my ipad or tablet live on my bedside table..

Don't u find the small text on a phone causes more eyestrain? I sure as hell do, especially when im tired… Not to mention the things on ebay that look awesomely good until u view it on a larger display, lol…

  • How does this compare to a Nexus 7 (2013)? More powerful?

  • Can you watch Netflix HD on this?
