  • Casual Dining Gift Card

    Never seen this one before.

    Good offer.

    • It wouldn't surprise me if the card actually works at a bunch of retailers, outside of those listed above. These cards tend to be generic pre-paid EFTPOS cards. They have some restrictions on the merchant category, but they often don't enforce it down the merchants listed on their website.

Hopefully someone tries it out with the "Casual Dining Gift Cards" and posts back their findings.

      • haha you are right @salmon123, point 3! Hopefully it will work elsewhere too!

        https://www.casualdiningcard.com.au/gift-card-tcs/

      • Interesting! I know the Westfield ones work anywhere EFTPOS is accepted but guess we'll have to test it out. If it's merchant category I wonder if you could test it with a McDonalds self-serve or is that a different category?

        • McDonald's would be a good place to try. Although some are franchises, so who knows how their payment terminals are set up.

Probably no need to limit yourself to self serve terminals. Staff normally don't care and aren't trained on which gift cards to accept or decline.

I'm interested in hearing the results people have, but I don't really want to sink $40 on this, if it only works at the listed shops.

I've found a few places Westfield cards don't work: officeworks is a notable exception

      • I do not think so. This card is issued by Blackhawk too, who issues Ultimate series. Not by an amateur issuer.

        • I don't think it's related to the "maturity" of the issuer. Keeping the website up to date with all the places a particular card is accepted is a tough job. You'd finish up with a lot of unhappy customers complaining about the card not working as advertised and possible breaching ACL.

I think it's why the Westfield gc works everywhere.

It's certainly possible that the "casual dining card" are locked down to the merchants listed, but it would be nice if someone discover they weren't :)

          • @salmon123: Westfield card needs to cover far more merchants than a particular giftcard like this, which makes it to be an EFTPOS card. The activation fee also explains the difference.

I have tried other retailers with the good food gift card before and it didn't go through, so imho extensive random trial and errors would be required to find out which retailers accept this card.

        • I have tried other retailers with the good food gift card before

What kind of retailers? Restaurants or just shops?

          good food gift card

I've never had a physical good food gift card, only digital. I wouldn't know how to present the digital card at other retailers, because they enter an alphanumeric code into the payment terminal. Is the physical good food card a generic EFTPOS card?

          • @salmon123: The physical card version has an EFTPOS logo on it, just like this one

            • @feihong: Interesting. What retailers did you try it at?

  • Paid full price for that one last week.

The Hotel Card…. Hmmmm, pretty restrictive…easier ways to get $20 or more off a hotel. http://www.thehotelcard.com/faq.php

    • Doesn't let you look at availability without having a card … lame

      • I actually came across knowledge of Hotel Card first for time this arvo; a competition prize.
Did a little bit of experimental booking and quickly realised that their hotel prices were well in excess of what can be had from other 'comparison' booking sites. Even with 20% off it's it's very ho-hum offer.

  • Accor hotel gift card is really good for those who have an Accor plus membership

    • T&C says it can't be used to pay Plus rates

    • From FAQ: https://www.accorhotelsgiftcards.com.au/frequently-asked-que…

"You must be a staying guest of the hotel to use your AccorHotels Gift Card. Unfortunately; the card cannot be used at the food and beverage outlets or spas of an AccorHotels property when you are NOT staying as a guest."

So what's the latest with purchasing gift cards with gift cards now at Woolies - no longer possible?

    • I think Woolies has stopped buying gift cards with e-gift cards or gift cards at the checkout.

They will lose a lot of business by doing that since we live in a digital world :)

  • Does anyone know if there is any limit on how many gift cards you can buy to still earn the 2000 point each?

    • Might be different for this promo, but usually the limit is 10 cards
