Hainan Airlines is part of a very privileged club of which only a handful of carriers belong to. In February 2016 only Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, All Nippon Airways, Cathay Pacific, Garuda Indonesia and Hainan Airlines were certified five-star airlines, awarded by Skytrax, the global airline quality program.

A deal like this doesn't come along often, getting to Shanghai from under $400.

          Yeah, Changsha is pretty boring really and the airport isn't that close to town. The history of Mao and the food are the two draw cards.

          Particularly uninspiring when the other transit option is Xi'an; home of the terracotta warriors, ancient capital and street food mecca (so much stuff to eat in the Muslim quarter).

    Changsha is pretty boring, although it's not too far from Zhangjiajie, although certainly not enough time to go there in 17 hours.
