  • thats a pretty good deal, even if you only get 4 or 5 years ut of it you are still way ahead besides i find these vivo panels to be not too bad really for the money defiently better than soniq

Does anyone know any good specials for a 46 or bigger?

    • Dunno if this is good cos I haven't been tracking prices for this size tv, but the same ad also had Sharp Aquos 46" Full HD LCD TV for $988 (RRP as per ad $1499).

on face value this seems ridiculously good

As a comparison DSE has the same unit for $548. Price match for other states? Probably not.

Crap that makes it ~$375 price matched!!

  • That's even cheaper than the price of similar TVs in China. How can they make a proft out of this?

  • Be VERY careful buying through WoW. They do not do refunds/repairs/replacements as per the Trade Practices Act, they are going far beyond fraud with the amount of people they are ruining financially - people can't afford to buy a new TV if it breaks and they can't afford to take them to court.

    Many examples:
    http://www.productreview.com.au/p/wow-sight-and-sound/21.htm…

It happened to me as well - I couldn't get a refund/repair no matter what, so I had to fight it with a full small claims court, and managed to get a personal apology from the QLD Manager, with a full refund and a $200 gift card. I never used the gift card and never will :P

Buyer be warned if you buy from WoW Sight and Sound - the TV looks great at $399, but can you factor in if it breaks in 6 months time and they flat out deny to service is whatsoever?

    • wow, good deal. full refund + $200 gift card.

    • did you try to contact / deal with Vivo directly?

    • Wow, some of those reviews are horrible. I wouldn't buy anything from that place.

      • keep a really open mind when reading those reviews. usually they are written by a preson who joined that day and have only done that one review. - gee, could they be a competitor?

I sort of trust people who have been around and given multiple reviews/posts.

'I never used the gift card and never will.'

Wow! That'll teach 'em a lesson…not to mess with you.

(However, you could always donate it to your local school or charity! (or me))

    • Can i use your gift card please?

  • Use the gift card to buy half a tv.

  • 10 per store…….

  • Just updated the link to go to 1WOW's Vivo LTV42FHD page, which is still showing $495.

Oh wow. You need to add $59 for a one year warranty. What a rip job. Is it even legal to sell something without a warranty?

    PS: It's a pretty nice ploy on their part: 1 year ($59) 2 year ($69) 3 year ($79) 4 year ($89).

    Personally I'd rather the price be $458 with 1yr included warranty PLUS $10 for a 2 year warranty / $20 3 year / $30 4 year - makes sense right?

Still not sure how legal it is to sell something without warranty though.

    • I think is additionnal to the 1 year mfg

    • pretty sure that's for an extended warranty - which is pretty standard across all retailers.
Devices normally have a manufacturers warranty which according to the dickies site is 1 year for this telly. Manufacturers warranty is not specified by the retailer.
      http://dicksmith.com.au/product/GE6162/vivo-106cm-42-quot-fu… (assuming the ltv42fhd and ltv42fhdq are the same… )

    • umm… from the link to the product page on Wow's website, it says (under the warranty tab):

This item is covered by the Manufacturer's warranty. Please see the Manufacturer's website or our Returns Policy for more details.

I couldn't find a Vivo website/url but this would be my guess as to the warranty card you get, ie. one year manufacturer's warranty.

    • Don't forget your statutory rights, based on how long you think the product should last, that is the implied warranty (I would say at least 2 years for this TV, maybe 3). It's debatable depending on the price and what the product is, but I'm sure the ACCC will be happy to fight for you and the company on the receiving end would rather just replace or repair your TV then go through heaps of paper work and a few fines/charges.

      • +1

True - but it can take a long time to work through that process and the cost of pursuing can end up being greater than the original cost of purchase and while the ACCC might 'fight' for you they don't go anywhere near as far in this as what I expected they would.

I've been to the ACCC on an issue before and they were great and supportive and gave good advise and said I had a case but they did hand-ball me to the Department of Fair Trading when it came to negotiation crunch time. Dept of Fair Trading were ok, but they were more concerned with finding agreement at a mid point (ie half way between all and nothing) and closing the case than sticking up for right / wrong.

We did get agreement on replacement but company just stalled for a month then reneged on the deal and all the Dept Fair Trading could do was advise me to lodge a claim in the small claims court - they couldn't actually enforce anything or bind the company to an outcome. As the company was Sydney based I was told I would have to fly to Sydney to lodge the claim and represent myself and to cap it off apparently it is very rare for reimbursement of legal / representation costs to be included in settlements in the small claims court.

So I gave up - couldn't justify sinking more money into the problem than what it would cost to fix it myself. Took about 5 months from when I first notified the company of the issue until I gave up.

        • Sorry to hear that, most I've heard of even mentioning the ACCC to a company immediately get a refund/replacement or what not.

  • I bought the 1080p 32" VIVO from DSE for $799 about a year ago. Great for the price at the time. Haven't had any issues, good display and features. Just a bit slow switching through AV sources but very good so far for the price. I'll try to get this 42"!

    • Ouch. I got the same one for $475 9 months ago. Amazing how much the price can drop in 3 months.

  • How come the link is showing $495??

Also, where can i see the added warranty prices? I personally reckon an additional 4yrs for $89 is a good deal, especially for a cheaper TV. If you can get this for $488 with 5yr warranty, then you're getting a good deal, a bargain price for a TV that's gauranteed to last a bit.

    • +1

$495 = WOW's regular price on the website - link is to the same model TV.

$399 = special 3 day sale price seen on a newspaper ad and not found on website - photo link available in deal post details of actual newspaper ad.

      • Oh yea, duhh. :)

Only 10 per store, possible all gone the first day. Anyone bought one?
I wonder if they have them at Oxley store, only recently re-opened after floods.

  • Bought one yesterday. Really good value for money. It does come with a one year warranty. Extended warranty is $89 for 4 extra years. So 5 years all up.

  • I think this would be the one time extended warranty is worth it. You don't buy it with Sony or Samsung panels, but with this TV which supposedly is prone to breaking it would be worth every cent.
