  • i thought the new / latest model has rj45 for wired ethernet ?

is this the older model ?

    • Hi garage sale, yes ,this is the older model of Mi box.
We will release the deal for the latest model this afternoon 10:00 UTC.
I will update it here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/417535

Vodafone TV is a better deal at the moment

    • Have to agree. Got me one and the only nitpicky comments i can make about vtv is i wish it had 16 or 32GB storage, microsd slot, 3 or 4GB RAM and a gigabit port. Would pay $100 for such an android tv device.

      • Check out Mecool KM9, spec matched your requirement :-)

        • If this indeed have gigabit ethernet and is google certified and netflix is legit unlike the m8s pro+. This will be my next media consumption box.

Cam someone tell me whats the purpose of this if we already have smart tv?

    • +2

Depend on your tv smarts. One might prefer android tv instead.

You can install plenty more apps and games on a tv box.

      • Beware that Netflix HDR & Dolby Vision might not play nice when coming from an Android TV box, so if you want those you'll probably want to stream from your TV's app.

Android TV boxes like the Mi Box are more about the "fully loaded" experience with Kodi, otherwise there are cheaper and better options available.

the one on the TV are general sluggish and laggy, notably the slight delay between pressing remote and reaction on screen can drive you mad.

    • +2

I have both and I prefer the mibox as its dedicated and the remote has no lag

  • I've had a lot of issues with my mi box … Great when it's working .. otherwise sometimes will drop wifi, have to keep resyncing the remote… Sometimes picture will go all garbled with artifcating.. maybe I'm just unlucky and for a defective unit..

  • If your budget is under $100, go with Vodafone TV box. Otherwise, spend more and get the Nvidia Shield TV. I have Mi Box and thought it is the best working TV Box but once I experience the Nvidia Shield, I can never go back to Mi Box again.

    • That can be said for most things at double the price.

  • Bought this one and will sell my mi box. It was losing connection with remote often, had to replug power to make it connect. And google play tv games are all non-free and very limited content. Wifi is slow as well, cannot really stream Chinese epsode. Bought an xbox controller, wanted to pair mi box to play games, paired, button mapping are all wrong, dont know how to remap…

  • Now $49.99 i am seeing under 500 units
