So this courtesy can be cancelled straightaway like the trial one and still use three months ?

    • +1

Yep, you can cancel and still retain the trial period fo 3 months.

      • When I go to cancel it says I will lose my benefits..

Edit: nvm went to the next page and saw it. Thanks !

    • Yep. Just applied and cancelled and still have prime until Feb 20th.

      • If I sign up and cancel straight away, will it still apply free for the trial period?

  • +7

Be aware that this is US Prime Membership

  • it looks like it is for amazon.com only? is the prime membership in amazon.com apply to amazon.com.au?

    • No, US only

I believe it applies to twitch prime still though

Definitely cancel it straight away, this is a killer:

Membership will automatically renew at $119 plus applicable taxes per year after the expiration of the initial 3-month Prime membership.

      • Though I believe even if you forgot and got charged for the next year, providing you haven't used it after payment you can contact them for a refund.

Free for me & i’m not a new prime member. Charged $0 to my card.

  • Says I'm not invited.

Would it be because I just signed up to Amazon Prime AU ?

    • It's targeted to AmEx holders.

      • I do have an Amex saved to Amazon. It even allows me to select it, but then it has an message on top saying "invitees only"

    • Idk, but I’m have an audible us membership & signed up for the 3 months free audible au membership.

  • This is an invitation only offer to new Prime members. To learn more about Prime membership and its benefits, please click here.

    • Your hyperlink is Hypo

I didn’t get an invite & it worked

      • Are you a AU Prime member ?

        • I was, I was also US prime. Neither at the moment. Might become au while I have the 50% Amex offer still & Christmas coming up.

  • So free delivery to Australia??

  • +2

Hey OP maybe remove "Fast, free delivery on over 100 million items" considering that's not available to Aussies.

  • Any real benefit buying from OZ? I guess some flash sales for Prime only and ship to OZ.

  • +1

So only benefit for this will be prime videos streaming ?

  • I'm getting a 404 from the link. Not redirecting.

  • do people use a freight forwarder now for Amazon.com? I can't seem to buy any physical products now.

    • +4

Havent used them since they blocked us. And wont use the AU site purely on principle. If they want me to shop with them again they will have to open up shipping from the US again. For now i use Deep Discount. has dropped my ordering from overseas by about 90%. Heard Aus post is laying off 10% of their workforce due to a steep drop in parcel deliveries. Wonder why?

      • Thanks Gerry! Looking after Aussie jobs /s

      • You heard that where? The only thing I can find is that they're expecting a record Christmas and are hiring more Christmas temps than ever before.

Plus your actions are exactly what the government wanted to happen…

        • From someone who works there and has been made redundant. Aus post expects a records christmas every year. What they hire for Christmas alone and what exists after that are two very different things. Im sure they hire every year for mail delivery. Hence why they are casuals.

What the government wanted to lose out on Tax dollers. I havent translated those sales locally so they lose out both ways.

I order from Amazon US and use Planet Express as a forwarder regularly.
Mainly because the things I want to buy are not available on Amazon AU or any AU store.

Mainly home automation stuff, smart thermostats, Zigbee stuff etc.

The things that are available via Amazon AU are 3-4 times the price as through the US store.
So even with forwarding, it ends up being cheaper.

  • Didnt get promo from Amex, I was a prime member last year. Still redeemed on my account. thanks OP

    • Do you have an Aus address on your account?

      • I have multiple addresses, Aus Home, Family in US and tax free state dummy address

    • I signed up earlier this year for an Amex 3-months offer, got the email from Amazon again.
The "Start your prime membership" button is disabled though.

  • +1

Is there anyway to get around the shipping restrictions?

  • +1

Wow that was really easy, thanks! Signed up, and then cancelled straight away. "Next Payment: On February 20, 2019, your card will not be charged and your membership will end." Any good titles on US Prime Video? I signed up for a 1 month trial on Japan Prime just for some HBO shows that Foxtel have monopoly over and I'd have to pay extra on Hulu for

  • +1

Just be aware you will be charged a currency conversion fee on all transactions from Amazon US if you use your AMEX to purchase goods through a forwarder. Better to activate the deal using AMEX and use 28 Degrees Card to pay for goods.

    • Depends on your Amex card, some are conversion fee free.

  • Looks like there could be a $15 credit for $30 spend. Check carefully.

    • The problem is that how do we get and use the credit ? The app asked me if I want to change my country to US. Should I say yes?

  • Tried to watch Amazon Video, but I keep getting this title isn't available in your location?

    • +2

Most videos are region locked to the US. You'll need a VPN to watch them. Personally, I use Getflix to stream Amazon US on PC and on the NVidia Shield TV.

      • Thanks for the tip. Will look into it :)

    https://www.news.com.au/finance/business/retail/amazon-inter…

Looks like they are shipping to AU again

    • +1

great, is international shipping free for prime members?

    • Only from the US though.
"Eligible items are only those sold by Amazon on Amazon.com and not other international sites like Amazon.de, Amazon.ca or Amazon.co.uk. Items"

  • sigh, looks like I must rewatch Seinfeld on prime video again.

  • +1

Didn't work for me, never had Prime on either AU or US, and have entered Amex details in both account and as Neww Card, Start Button is disabled.
