6 month honeymoon prices

The following plans are for a total of 6 months, with each month costing you as follows:

  • 1GB Plan for $4.40 per month for 6 months
  • 2GB Plan for $6.40 /mth
  • 5GB Plan for $13 /mth
  • 10GB Plan for $18 /mth

The prices will then revert to their original non-discounted price after the honeymoon period of 6 months. Minimum cost is the first month of the plan, there is no contract and you may exit at any time.

The lower 2 tiers are particularly good value for more frugal users.

All plans have unlimited calls + texts within Australia. International is PAYG and is turned off by default, according to their CIS.

No delivery costs or any other upfront charges. No contract. Minimum cost is the 1 month price of any of those plans.

Front page claims to use "Telstra Mobile Network", but it's probably the wholesale one.

Receive a discount on your plan charge: 60% off for 6 months when you order our 1GB and 2GB plan, or 50% off for 6 months when you order our 5GB and 10GB plan. "Order your SIM today for delivery by Christmas"

    Drop shipping from China ???

  • Telstra wholesale so you're comparing with Aldi and Belong for coverage. No excess data charges either and no data rollover.

1GB data top-ups are $10. Once included data is depleted, you will not be able to use mobile data unless you purchase a top-up.

Normal fee for 1Gb plan is $10.99 - better of with $10 Belong with throttled data once you exceed cap.

    • But does pennytel have normal message bank?

I'm guessing these plans (at normal price) are similar to mynetfones mobile plans?

  • From the website, the prices are total for 6 months, not monthly prices. I.e.

    • $4.40 for 6 months = $0.73/mo
    • $6.40 = $1.07/mo
    • $13.00 = $2.17/mo
    • $18.00 = $3.00/mo
    • The wording is that it's

Receive a discount on your plan charge: 60% off for 6 months when you order our 1GB and 2GB plan, or 50% off for 6 months when you order our 5GB and 10GB plan

The bills are paid monthly and not in one lump sum, so the discount is going to be applied on the monthly SIM payments. Basically, each month you get a discounted phone bill.

There is no option to pay for a 6 month block because there is no contract, and it's definitely not going to be a few dollars for the entire 6 months contract. The deal would be too good otherwise.

      • Really? On the website it says: "Min total cost: $4.40 for the first six months",then $10.99 per month (no contract)".

I thought it sounded too good to be true, but that wording makes it sound as though it's $4.40 for 6 months, not per month.

        • Yeah, the minimum cost is thing is confusing at first. What it takes into consideration is that it's a no contract plan and that you can leave right after the first month.

Since there is no obligation (no contract) you can use it for one month — hence the 'min cost $4.40', and then leave right after owing the first bill.

  • I was on Pennytel for 5 months total and was on the equivalent of the $18p/m 10GB plan, except it used to be $20p/m 9GB back then. Had problem with one service's port-in but that was because Woolworths Mobile has a different account number to make porting out harder. I would certainly use Pennytel again and the other Telstra MVNOs (maybe except Woolworths due to their unethical method for port out). I have unfortunately ported over from Catch Connect ($15 for 90 days) and it is totally unusable. I doubt I can even do 30 days on that hopeless service. I miss my Pennytel/Aldi/Telstra service now :(

I can't use Belong or Woolworths as they don't do roaming.
