  • Good deal, thumbs up

  • +2

Should shipping be mentioned in the title? Considering it costs a cool $30.84 to get it to me…

    • +1

pick up available = postage is preferred. The cost is then determined by location which is mentioned in the post

    • It says Sydney in the title, its quite obvious that if you're going to get it delivered, its going to cost more.

      • Sydney was not in the title before.

  • +2

plus 1 for " no need to pricematch " lol

  • Price-beat available at OW where this model is in there current catalogue - $123.50

    • +7

And once someone uploads the $123.50 receipt from price-beating at OW, use that receipt to price-beat at Dick Smith so it'll be $117.30 ? Then use that receipt to go to the Good Guys, offer to pay in cash and get them to beat $117.30? lolol

      • +3

        dude, inception!

        • then go back to office works and by the time you finish office works will be paying you to take the printer

  • wish it was a colour wireless printer

  • +8

    lol thats so mean aussman

  • -4

Postage costs kills it for me

WARNING: READ THIS BEFORE ORDERING FROM THESE GUYS.

    http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=684202&p=…

Very unreliable, don't reply to emails, stock levels never accurate, dodgy business practices & reports of credit card fraud.

    • +2

paying cash in store cant be a problem can it?

      • +2

I guess so, but not everyone can pay cash in store.

I wish I read the forum before I made an order with them.

        • +9

I went in there to buy a toner for my Brother printer. First they said the price was wrong on the website, I argued and complained and when they gave in they said they had no stock…

The store looks absolutely disgusting anyway, stock and cardboard boxes all over the place.

    • +2

got my $1400 laptop from them. One year gone and no problem at all

    • +1

and to mention that they gave me a free carry case and wireless mouse, given it was the cheapest option in staticice

      • just wanna mention that the guys working there are part-time bangladeshi students.
Some people may not like the general curry flavoured odour there, some whirlpool users are biased for that reason.
But like people above me have said, In store is the safer choice

        • Sorry to reply to my old post but seems that they seemed to have changed owners since March 2010 and in doing so become dodgy. The review I have given is from March 2010 hence not with the current owner.
Just a heads up to whoever is negging me

    • +4

+1, wouldn't recommend anyone go near this shoddy business with a 40-foot pole.

  • +3

I'm going to also speak out on how dodgy Penta Computers are. Never have the right stock specified and I too have heard of credit card fraud from them. Beware.

  • +3

I don't like to deprive a business of it's bread n butter, but after all that this website has given to me, I strongly advise everyone to NOT BUY FROM PENTA.

I don't care about rude service, or unanwered emails, but when they lie to you to get your money that is not cool hey.

$100 deposit for a laptop which was promised at the time to be in stock (but at their warehouse) and delivered within a week turned into a 2 month wait period.

I just read that whirpool thread above, boy.. wished I stumbled across that prior to buying off Penta.

    • +1

Had a similar experience as zeppeybabey with Penta, seems like they will try and get you into the store then spin some crap to get you pay for it or even taking a small deposit on the spot. Then the aftermath….

  • A reason why this is a good price … this printer features PCL emulation. Therefore the processing is done in the printer rather than on the PC. Less PC load, and less buggier drivers. Also will support a wider range of operating systems as well as future OS's. Most (if not all) laser printers in this price range support GDI (host-based printing) rather than PCL. (see here for more info: http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/H/host_based_printer.html ).

Penta don't have stock and couldn't tell me when they were getting some in. They were quite happy to offer me a more expensive Canon though. Sucks about $30 shipping for those who are in Melbourne or Brisbane etc and can't pick up too.
Not a bargain at all if they don't have stock, but cheap if you can get it.

    • "no stock and pricematch = no deal"

  • +2

Penta are shockers. They tell you every story under the sun to get your money, then admit they don't have any stock, then try and hold your deposit for as long as possible before returning it.
Stay away from these guys, don't reward these uber-shonks.

  • I wish I read this post earlier.(link from http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/41803)
I ordered and paid(e-bank) for another Brother printer 2 weeks ago.( I was told 2-3 days to get it in stock)
Up to now, No ETA. No reply to my emails.
I did able to get through their Live Chat a few times, but no one able to promise anything.
I am starting to think they just trying to hold your money as long as possible as stated above, and then trying to get you to pay more for an upgrade etc.
I feel they purposely list the lowest price on the web, so that StaticICE will list them as the lowest price supplier. (that's how I find them)
Any suggestions what I can do at this point?(Probably not a right place to ask such question.
But I want to neg about this company practice. Not sure about this particular printer.)
It confirmed their bad name after reading http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=684202&p=…
A slight comfort as I didn't pay by credit card as they also have bad name on Credit card issues.
Be warned if you are planning to buy from Penta. The only save way probably is cash and carry.

  • Ahh well, make the best of it:

Got a price match for $130 from Office Works:

Heads up - this printer probably won't fit in that pencil case.
