Amazon US has started shipping to Australia again! Just in time for Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals.

I've got an offer on my account to get a US$15 credit when buying US$50 Gift Card, possibly only for new gift card customers.

Also, Amazon US accept Citibank's Diners Club Companion Card so finally it's useful.

Please note:

The promotional credit only applies to products and digital content sold by Amazon.com or Amazon Digital Services LLC (look for "sold by Amazon.com" or "sold by Amazon Digital Services LLC" on the product or content detail page) and all eBooks made available through Amazon.com.

Products and digital content (except for eBooks) sold by third-party sellers or other Amazon entities will not qualify for this offer, even if "fulfilled by Amazon.com" or "Prime Eligible".

Credit must be used by February 6, 2019, 11:59:59 PM (PT) and any remainder is forfeited.

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2018

“As a result of customer feedback, from November 22 Amazon customers will be able to ship eligible items from Amazon.com to Australian delivery addresses,” an Amazon spokeswoman said.

      Poor Gerry.

      • Gerry is a billionaire buddy

          Billionaires have feelings too.

        • Not if he keeps buying sheep stations.

    • This is awesome news!

      Woah this is great news!

    • +2

Even better, now that we can get prime in Australia, there’s FREE international shipping for purchases over $49.

      • +1

Prime for.com is different from prime for.com.au

          • @Bismar: That's for when ordering through Amazon.com.au
I already used that a few times for some Lodge products from US ordered thru .com.au

          • +1

@Bismar: Having an .au Prime will not get you Prime on .com

          • @Bismar: I think that is just through the Amazon Global store, not .com store and "sold by Amazon.com". It's gettin' kinda confusing :-S

            • @swapsey: So spending >USD49 as a Prime(AU) member won't necessarily mean free shipping?

              • @Sydgun: It does if the product is fulfilled by amazon au (which can only be found on amazon.com.au). Buying from US site does not have any level of free shipping to Australia, no matter if you have prime AU or prime US.

        • Fair enough, I apologise for confusing everyone. Can a mod please delete my OP as it is incorrect. Cheers.

          • @Bismar: Just click Report in your comment & ask to remove it.

            • @INFIDEL: Any way possible to get free international shipping from US?

"Unfortunately, you are not eligible for this offer."

    • Probably you've bought gift cards before?

      • I have and I am not eligible now.

        • Create a new account?

          • @yoke2018: I just tried and it didn't work.

      • I havent and I'm not eligible.

Amazon US shipping to Australia again… that's the best shopping news ever?

    • -1

Nvm "select item" missed that.. even tho some items show up as eligible they arent when you checkout. Only items sold and shipped by amazon.

  • +1

Just a FYI: as usual with Amazon promo credit, it can only be used on items sold by Amazon. You won't be able to purchase anything that isn't sold directly by them.

The promotional credit may not be applied towards the purchase of products sold by, or under the brands of third parties, or sold through third-party areas of Amazon.com.

    and

Any promotional credit remaining unredeemed after February 6, 2019, 11:59:59 PM (PT) will be forfeited.

  • +1

can u use on .au or only .com?

    • only applies to products and digital content sold by Amazon.com

I assume they literally mean .com and not .au.

  • +2

Unfortunately, you are not eligible for this offer.

    • Got the same. Guess they don't want to sell gift cards to me.

  • +1

Can I use the card on the Australian site?

  • This is great. Hopefully we'll be able to get some good black Friday deals on our Saturday.

  • Do we receive the gift card instantly?

  • How do you guys purchase from this? All of my credit cards have international transaction fee.

    • You must be new here. There are a number of cards that charge no such fee. I use 28 Degrees.

    • +1

As mentioned in the post, if you have Citibank Diners companion card you'll earn points without international transaction fee.
Other cards are 28 Degrees, Citibank Plus debit card and Bankwest Platinum.

  • “The promotional code you entered has already been redeemed”…what? When? Not by me! This is my first gift card 🤔

  • Can I use the card on the Australian site?

    • No

  • +1

Applying code says "you have successfully redeemed your promotional code" but there is no indication of the extra credit. How do I confirm before checkout?

    • +1

I'm sitting on a checkout screen now and am seeing the message
      "Important message
Congratulations, your purchase qualifies you for an Amazon.com credit. A $15 promotional credit will be automatically applied to your account and emailed to you within three (3) days after shipping."

      • I checked my gift card history. Purchased one long time ago. Maybe that's why it doesn't give me the extra credit.

      • +1

I have the same message at the top of the checkout screen. Keep in mind this is with the desktop version of the site and not the mobile version which doesn’t make mention of anything.

        • Tried it again from the desktop. It worked!

      • Can you please send a screenshot. I am targeted but the promotional credit is not showing on my screen.

        • +1

The message was at the checkout screen saying it will be emailed 3 days later

  • +1

    Nice, eligible!
Last I remember of Amazon physical goods is that the shipping costs made it not at all worth it though, oftentimes the same price or even more expensive than the item in question.

I might take advantage of this deal to just use on some digital games or PSN/Estore credit though. :P

    • +2

eshop credit for me, the black friday sale on the US switch store has a couple goodies I want to pick up :)

      • Yup, already going to grab Mario + Rabbids gold edition, best price I've seen :)

  • +1

Amazon is only shipping items stocked by amazon and not their third-party sellers. Better than nothing I guess but even before the harvey Norman tax boycott they rarely shipped anything I wanted anyway.

  • Prediction: this post will get A LOT of votes.

  • +2

Screw the gift card….they are shipping to Australia again!

  • “The promotional code you entered has already been redeemed"

I have never bought a US amazon gift card.. why am I getting this error?

    • +1

It's already redeemed once you click claim offer, there should be a box above your payment details to say the credit will be applied 3 days after delivery.

  • So, would Amazon.com prime membership be of any benefit if they are shipping Australia now?

    • +1

Not 100% but I think it'll be US deliveries only most likely.

    • Domestic shipping only. Always has been.

  • Mas bisa benerin listrik yah?

    • Bagaimana Anda memperbaiki listrik?

  • +3

They most likely saw how much they were losing from Australian sales and caved.

    Thank goodness! (profanity) you, Gerry!

  • +1

Thank you for your interest in Amazon.com Gift Cards.

Unfortunately, you are not eligible for this offer.
A perfect present for any occasion, Amazon.com Gift Cards can be sent via email, text message, share via messaging app, printed at home, or sent through the mail (with Free One-Day Shipping). Amazon.com Gift Cards are redeemable storewide for millions of items and never expire.

    • +2

      Same for me.

Don’t think it’s a reason for a neg vote though.

  • +1

So wheres the GST getting charged then? - it's not being added to the checkout screen so your more than likely going to get slugged the 10% - in some cases if you could buy the Amazon item on the global store it will still be cheaper via Amazon AU as you can take advantage of Prime Free shipping…

    • The advantages of getting from Amazon US are you get more choices than local AU. Yes, AU is good for fast shipping but the choices are very limited. Probably have to do comparison of comparable items before making purchase decision.

      • Yeah understand that - just checked an item I've been wanting and it's cheaper for me to get it through Amazon AU (plus it has the GST added)

      • +1

urbancartel is talking about ordering the same item through the AU store, with Amazon US as the seller. If you have AU Prime it would probably work out better for free international shipping over $49, and I’d imagine shipping times would be exactly the same

        • Add to that you can't get 8% Cashrewards/Shopback from the Amazon US store ;)

  • Damn, a regular item I always used to get has the dreaded:
"Sorry, this item can't be shipped to your selected address"

    Cheapest its ever been too.

    • Well technically it's not the 22nd yet in the US so maybe try again when it is. Hopefully that's the reason…

  • -1

eBay might actually have some genuine competition on its hands..

  • How do we check if we qualify?

    • +1

Click the link. If it says you aren’t eligible for the offer, then that’s it.

  • annoyingly the code worked for me but my card rejected the transaction and now I can't use it again. Trying to explain this to the Amazon customer service is like banging your head against a brick wall! They are good with faulty or damaged deliveries but hopeless with anything weird like this…

    • +1

yay got it sorted eventually. Hoping the credit comes through before the sales are over…

  • Thanks - works for me!

  • 30mins away from midnight on the US East coast

  • +1

Just got the email with my additional credit this morning if anyone was curious as to the wait time.

  • Easy money. Thanks! Delivery took about 10 min.

  • If I purchase this gift card can I use it on Amazon.com.au or just on Amazon.com?

    • only on Amazon US

  • Shame,, didnt work for me :(
