Great price on the QB820! I paid $101.99 for it in a previous deal.

    • +3

I'd say it's a rubbish price given I paid $50 for it on a previous deal.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/341609

      • To be fair, these stopped shipping to Australia a while back, so the days of ~$50 prices are long gone, unless you can pick one up overseas.

So this may very well be the best price, unless you can make alternative arrangements to get one brought across.

Happy I got mine for $50-$60 or whatever back in the day!

        • $50 was delivered so I don't understand the >$115 price for local stock but I guess this is the problem when doing business in Australia.

I wish I had ordered another one at the time, it's a great battery and if you need one with PD it's probably the best choice. I've charged and discharged mine hundreds of times and it's still like new.

          • +2

@Maverick-au: Yes, I know that price was delivered - I bought one. You are completely missing my point.

It was cheap because it was being directly shipped, with cheap shipping costs, from china/hk. But companies are no longer able to ship the QB820 to Australia (it appears they are being rejected somewhere along the postal chain), so you CAN'T get it for that price any longer (unless you import it yourself).

This company has obviously arranged for a bulk shipment to be brought over somehow. Their price is higher because of the extra shipping expenses, or because of the lack of competition and the exorbitant prices of other comparable powerbanks (the ZMI was always cheaply priced against alternatives). Or, most likely, a bit of both.

I am not saying this is a good price. I am saying it is possibly the cheapest CURRENTLY AVAILABLE price. There is no use comparing it to the cheap prices of the past if those prices are no longer available - that doesn't help anyone wanting to buy one TODAY.

But yes, it sucks that these were $50 before, and now they are almost double that!

            • -1

@caprimulgus: You're missing my point and thinking that I'm saying the opposite to you which I'm not.

I just said that it's a great battery and if you need one with PD it's the best choice!

What extra shipping costs? Compare posting hundreds of these individually compared to the lower buy cost and bulk shipping and you would end up with a lower price per unit. Sure you have to add on GST but that is $5 which still leaves a hell of a lot to get to $120. Let's assume Amazon fees and delivery of $20 and that's $100 leaving $45 unaccounted for. There are other Xiaomi battery packs available from Australian suppliers for not much more then they were sold direct from overseas so I don't understand the price disparity.

My original post about this being a rubbish price was in response to someone who said it was a great deal as they picked it up for $102 in a previous deal, I was pointing out that it's not that great a price in comparison to deals before that.

              • +1

                @Maverick-au:

                You're missing my point

I understand it exactly. I am pointing out to you why the comparison is not relevant, and explaining to you what you yourself say you don't understand.

                What extra shipping costs?

                1) The bulk shipping / import cost to import them en masse.
                2) The Australian shipping costs of posting them out to customers on this end (WITHOUT high volume discounts)
                3) Any process and handling costs, storage costs etc.

                VS

                1) Chinese sellers with high volume shipping agreements in place, to ship items direct to customer at low cost, direct from the factory/warehouse

There are other Xiaomi battery packs available from Australian suppliers for not much more then they were sold direct from overseas

Precisely. This one is different (likely due to the high capacity), without supply limitations.

so I don't understand the price disparity.

                As I have already explained:
                1) Increased shipping costs
                2) Lack of competition
                3) High prices of comparable products.

My original post about this being a rubbish price was in response to someone who said it was a great deal as they picked it up for $102 in a previous deal, I was pointing out that it's not that great a price in comparison to deals before that.

And I am pointing out why your comment does not help someone who wants to buy one today.

Anyway, whatever dude. The point is, you can't buy it for $50 shipped to Australia today. You are entitled to feel this price is rubbish, but for someone wanting to buy one today, the price may in fact be appealing. Nobody is wrong - I am just explaining the context of the pricing, and everyone can decide for themselves whether it is rubbish or not. Each to their own!

                • @caprimulgus:

My comment that this was a rubbish price was in response to someone who said this was a great price. It may be an OK price but it's not a great price given these sell for under $50 shipped but getting these to Australia can be hit and miss.

                  1) The bulk shipping / import cost to import them en masse.
                  2) The Australian shipping costs of posting them out to customers on this end (WITHOUT high volume discounts)

This is shipped by Amazon, are you suggesting that they are paying a lot for shipping in Australia?

The shipping cost to Australia for hundreds of units is going to be cheaper than shipping them individually to hundreds of locations around Australia from China. You can dispute this all you like but packaging, labelling and shipping them in the hundreds is going to be more expensive than one or two large boxes.

                  1) Increased shipping costs
                  2) Lack of competition
                  3) High prices of comparable products.

And what part of this statement isn't clear? "… this is the problem when doing business in Australia."

And I am pointing out why your comment does not help someone who wants to buy one today.

And once again that comment was directed at one specific post.

Anyway, whatever dude. The point is, you can't buy it for $50 shipped to Australia today. You are entitled to feel this price is rubbish, but for someone wanting to buy one today, the price may in fact be appealing. You can buy this for $50 shipped to Australia, it may not get through however but they are not all being stopped at customs. And I have already said that this is a great product and if you need one with PD it's the best choice. But you choose to go around and around in circles because you want to be argumentative.

                  • @Maverick-au:

But you choose to go around and around in circles because you want to be argumentative.

                    Right, that's what it is…

                    Have a nice day!

        • where are these $50 Overseas?

      • It is a great price NOW.

Yes, unfortunately due to the recent changes in the retail market, such a price won't return again.

  • So you selling make-up mirrors eh?

  • Why would you buy the 4 port board when the 6 port board is $6 cheaper…?

    • Why would you buy a single switched powerboard if you wanted a switch on each outlet?

The 3 outlet is $10 cheaper as well.

  • Any of these powerbanks compatible with HP Spectre Laptops?

  • Is the deal live now?

    • Yes the ZMI QB820 deal is live now, sale price $107.99, then $12 off at checkout.

  • Hmmmm. Other than +5,000mAh capacity, are there any other differences between the QB15 and the QB20?

    • +1

Just the 18650 battery cells are different, QB820 uses LG 3300mAh per cell * 6, QB815 uses Samsung 2600mAh per cell * 6.

      • Thanks, bought.

  • Hi MM, will the Xiaomi wall charger be able to directly charge a Dell XPS13 9360 laptop (ie direct from wall to laptop)? As well as charge the ZMI powerbank?

    • Hey
The 65W wall charger will be able to charge Dell XPS13 9360 at least as fast as the stock one(Google search shows the stock charger uses USB PD at 45W). It will be able to charge the ZMI powerbank at max speed supported 45W.

But you do need a US/CN -> AU travel adapter or an international powerboard to plug it in as the plug type is straight 2 prongs as opposed to the AU angled 2 prongs.

      • Thank you! Do the items listed above still qualify for the tiered discounts? I just placed an order for the ZMI powerbank - $12 was taken off, but I wasn't sure whether $6 off $50 would apply on top of the $12 discount?

        • They should as the discount is applied on a per order basis, and there's no limit on usage per customer.

          • @Mostly Melbourne: I see, that's strange, I only got the $12 off but not the $6 off $50. Is there anything you can do?

            • @ozbarhui: I see what might have been the confusion.

For a $100 order, only the highest tier $12 off discount will be applied, the tiered discounts are not stackable with each other, they are incremental in terms of % off from 10% ($2 off $20) to 20% ($100 off $500). Hope this clarifies?

If you place an order for the 65W charger later on when the lightning deal goes live, you will automatically get $2 off it as it's over $20, or combine with something else to get $6 off $50.

Feel free to shoot me a PM if you have question about your particular order.

              • @Mostly Melbourne: Oh! I see it now, yes, I was confused. The $12 off is in fact already $12 off the $100 order. Thank you for the clarification!

  • Are the power boards certified for use in Australia? I couldn't find mention in the Product Description.

    • Every time this comes up….. thanks to the stupid government fooling people into thinking that a self certified product is safe.

If you want a certified board that will burn your house down go to Bunnings, Target, KMart etc and buy one of their cheap self certified boards.

If you want a high quality well built board you buy the Xiaomi.

  • Stupid question I'm attempting to purchase the Xiaomi ZMI QB815 yet in the checkout it's showing as $83.99

Rep is this discount already live?

    • The QB815 Lightning Deal is set to go-live at 2018-11-25 12:00 (Amazon decided the schedule), if you are a Prime member you could potentially reserve the item in advance.

      • Gotcha, guess I'll wait it out then, thought I was doing something wrong but just misinterpreted the original post :)

  • OP, currently your coffee cup is featured as a lightning deal but only the mustard yellow and price is $22.39

    • Yep, with the $2 off it will be $20.39 at checkout

      • But $20.39 is not $19.99 and only for one colour when your post mentioned 8 colours? Not a bit deal, just clearing up any confusion.

        • Yes, updated the OP to clarify. Each color will be a separate lighting deal to be rotated over the weekend

  • How come the Amiro O-Black Rechargeable Smart Makeup Mirror is still $147.99 at check out? Shouldn't it be $115.99

    • I did see it was on Prime early access earlier today but now it's not showing up.

If Amazon doesn't activate it I'll set up a sale at that price separately.

      • I don't think it has or will be activated.

        • Manually adjusted the sale price and edited OP, try again later?

  • the price right now for all the coffee cup shown $27.99. Regards to the lighting deal, how many hours will it last for each colour ?

    • 5 hours each colour, yellow and blue were on sale today, you should be able to see which one on sale for tomorrow soon

      • would you be able to disclose what time to be started tomorrow ? thank you

        • It "should" be 6am, 9am, 12pm and 6pm. But given Amazon's chaotic hit and miss today, I won't be rely on their clock exactly.
But don't worry, there are plenty of stock available so just check back in any time during the day should be alright.

          Here's the schedule in theory:

          • 2018-11-24 9:00 - Rivers Sleek Reusable Coffee Wallmug Travel Cup (White)
          • 2018-11-25 12:00 - Rivers Sleek Reusable Coffee Wallmug Travel Cup (Lead Grey)

  • What adapter do you recommend for the Xiaomi 65W USB-C PD Charger rep?

I've got this one lying around https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/jackson-vi…
Would that work? If would I have to get something else?

    • +1

      Hi Yanni
This one won't work unfortunately as the charger body won't fit into the adapter hole.
A cheap one from dollar shop will do the job just fine, or you can grab a xiaomi powerboard to plug in all your Xiaomi products

  • Hi Rep,

Can you please provide more information on the max output of the QB820? Having checked online there are claims that it is 45W and other places 40W.

I would like to use it for my Lenovo laptop which came with a 45W charger so I imagine anything less would not work as intended. Just want to be absolutely sure it is compatible before I spend ~$100 on something. My alternative was to go for the Cygnett Chargeup Pro which is advertised at 45W which I can also get for around the same price with current sales.

    Thanks!

    • +1

      Hi IceCreamBandit

In theory it can output 45W at the 15V3A PDO level and 40W at the 20V2A PDO level, but according to ZMI(credit to Yozza):

The marking on you power bank shows 40W, because the UL certification lab only allows us to write 45W for he USB-C port only if 45W is attained at both 15V and 20V. Because our power bank only delivers 40W at 20V, the lower wattage (40W at 20V) prevail in the labeling, instead of the 45W at 15V. However, if your laptop chooses the 15V profile (like in the case of HP Spectre x360 13"), the power bank will deliver 45W.

Safe to say the QB820/815 will charge your Lenovo laptop via the USB-C port at either 40W or 45W with no problem. What specific model do you have and maybe people can help out from experience?

      Hope this helps
      MM

      • Awesome, thanks for the quick response!

I have a T580…will probably pick one up! Have always had Xiaomi power banks and never had any issues so was really hoping this would be compatible.

Update - Looks like it should be fine. This is my charger and below are its specs

This Lenovo 45W Standard AC Adapter (USB Type-C) Power Adapter offers fast, efficient charging at home, in the office, or on the go. This power adapter is compatible with ThinkPad USB-C enabled Notebook and Tablet. Smart Voltage: Its PD technology automatically detects and delivers 5V/2A,9V/2A ,15V/3A or 20V/2.25A Tested and reliable: tested, reliable and backed by a one-year limited warranty

So if the standard charger does 15V/3A it should with the Xiaomi doing the same thing!

        • T580 is a beast of a laptop in terms of battery capacity (108Wh on max configuration). Do keep in mind that the QB820 (72Wh capacity) might not be able to recharge it from 0% to 100%, but enough juice to keep it alive for a few more hours.

          • @Mostly Melbourne: All good. I've been in the market for a new power bank (current one is 20000mAh but no fast charging in either direction) so thought to get something that can save the laptop in emergencies. I do have it spec'd with the largest batteries as well so it is only for worst case scenarios (and for my phone and Nintendo Switch).

Thanks for looking into it further, checking out now!

            Edit: Realised I missed the $96 sale…oops

            • +1

@IceCreamBandit: Yep unfortunately the sale has ended, currently the checkout price should be $107.99

  • QB815 is $69.99 during Lightning Deal

    • $6 off $50 bringing it down to $63.99 at check out

      • QB815 $89.99 plus "free" std shipping +$7.99 = $96.98 -$13.99 discount = $83.99
        But more than $63.99

        • Lightning sale at $69.99 was on from 5pm till 11:30pm yesterday.

  • +2

Just a quick follow-up regarding my question here.

I received my QB820 today and can confirm it charges my Lenovo T580. The Lenovo Vantage software recognises the charger as a 45W charger and everything works as expected!

My phone (S8) is also showing as fast charging.

Thanks Rep for the super quick responses and equally fast shipping! Definitely was not expecting it today!

  • @All

All but one QB815 and one AMIRO White sold during the Black Friday Sale event have been despatched as of today.

Most are showing delivered within 3 days from despatch (with more than 60% Authority to Leave option taken), so check the status of your order and if it says delivered but you haven't received the item, please contact Amazon Customer Service immediately so that they can look into with the courier company.

Also, if you like the products, a product review on Amazon (even better with photos) would be highly appreciated!

  • QB815 went past my door yesterday (note in letterbox) even though I was home - nevermind, picked up from PO.

Just plugged it into a 5V charging source, and the lights don't flash. Plug into a PD 20V source and the slow flashing. Should it charge (albeit it slowly) with 5V?

    • Hi Willyroo

Refer to this User Manual English Version. The only input(charge the powerbank) port is the USB-C port.

Recommended to use a charger with USB-C PD output port and a good quality USB-C to USB-C cable.

      MM

      • Thanks for the link - however the charging spec says "input 5-20V". Which suggests that not all 5V sources will charge it - certainly not the 2A one I've tried. Just an FYI :)

        • Yup, just tested myself with a primitive 5V 2A fixed charger and the USB tester shows 0mA, i.e. not charging.
