I wonder if it’s worthwhile buying this just for the extra 100gb gmail storage (lifetime)?

    • well i've been using gmail since the year it was released.
      i have 200Gb.
      i have archived every email.
      i have used 3%.

      • +1

How did you get 200gb? I’ve got 15gb and need to constantly delete emails with large attachments :(

        • I've never really tracked .. I think i have bought some storage and pay a few bucks each year .. also have owned about 3 chromebooks so perhaps that added some capacity? dunno. probably paid is my guess.

    • +4

R u sure its lifetime.. when I bought my chromebook years ago it had a 2 year expiry.

      • Same. Only google product along these lines that I know of is Google Pixel giving unlimited full quality photo uploads

        • Google ohotos is free unlimted backup for anything below 16MP. So if your camera is below 16MP you can unlimited full quality uploads.

Can you please provide information on 100gb for life if we are to get this chromebook? I can only find "2 years" only. Thanks

archive every email = archive nothing

  • What's the battery life like on this if I want to watch Netflix?

  • What type of power cable do you use for this - assuming you need to swap out for an Aussie one?

  • +1

Good for watching netflix in bathtub.

    • Only the keyboard is water resistant

My Pixelbook is so freakin' awesome btw. Chromebooks are awesome.

    • +3

      What makes them so awesome?

      • +1

Long battery (Mine consistently lasts 8+ hours and it's 1.5 years old, used to last towards 10), always quick due to not many processes active, mine folds over and converts to a tablet (it's touch screen), Android apps, goes from completely off to internet in about 10 seconds

It's also nice knowing that if something happens to the device, I can just boot up another and everything will be exactly as I left it.

Can't do everything my Windows laptop can, but it's great. I have the top model Dell XPS 9560, but I still use my Samsung Chromebook Pro 95% of the time. It's light, quick, and convenient. Plus it's good having most of my wear and tear on my Chromebook rather than my good laptop. I guess I think of it like a much more superior iPad.

        Biggest negatives are:
-no PC gaming (but can still do Android games, or PC gaming via game streaming)

-no professional programs, like pro tools, full adobe programs, etc
(however, many alternatives exist such as pixlr for light photoshop work, and plenty of android apps including the dumbed down adobe ones)

-I put a third dot point here but I'm honestly struggling to think of more negatives! It used to be a lot more inconvenient before Android apps were supported.

Got one of these for the other half. It's auto updating, very low maintenance which is a joy when you spend so much time updating pcs elsewhere, always ready to go and it's a joy to use. I'd love a bit more ram but that's just being niggly.

  • Is this actually a touchscreen? It doesnt mention it anywhere. Can it run all apps from the Google Playstore eg Clash of Clans?

    • +1

      no, not touch screen

      • my pixelbook has a touchscreen .. but i rarely use the touchscreen .. perhaps about 3 or 4 times in about a year .. definitely not essential unless you have some google app requirement.

  • Google Play store pre-installed?

    • +1

      yes

  • where's the link of all the lightning deals?

  • The power bank has jumped up to $35

    • thanks. updated the post

  • Can this handle excel?

  • Does anyone know how the warranty works on this?

    • it has a better quality feel compared to macbook … you're not going to need a warranty.

  • Looks like it’s back to full price now

  • Was going to grab one last night, but wanted to watch a few youtube reviews first and fell asleep.

Woke up and checked back earlier this morning and gone.

    Literally,….you snooz, you loze lol

  • My order has been cancelled, with no notification from Amazon. Check your order history.

    • mine already shipped

  • If anyone has received theirs would appreciate if you can tell me if I can just use a standard figure-8 type aussie power cord with the charger? Or do I need a plug adapter?

  • just got an email from amazon saying they have refunded me because the item was returned as "undelivered" (which is highly unlikely as my postie is awesome) and that if i still want it to order it again (at its full normal price).

    • mine was supposed to arrive today but the tracking was showing delayed since 27/11 and was just shipped out on 4/12. not positive it will be coming today, maybe next week.

  • +2
