  • Obviously your mileage may vary given it says to show an invite.

What's are he T&C's on the back?

  • never been to a costo might take a look on the way home :O (if its available in SA)

    • It's on Churchill road, near kilburn.

    • +2

Update for SA : Open until 830pm tonight. You do not need to have a printed copy, but just say that you are here for the VIP night to the girl that will be at the desk.

      • +1

        Purchases allowed or just look?

        • +1

Can’t even breathe on the items

        • +1

          You can buy

    • the one in SA is the best.

      • My first time in there, and I wouldn't find value in membership.

Only things I would buy are meats, sauces and spices and their super thick alfoil. The meats are not cheap compared to either of my local butchers, however I don't have to pre-order the cuts that I want (e.g. baby back ribs).

Apart from that, almost everything is cheaper/same price at Woolies or Coles especially when on sale, and I often am cycling through some kind of points promo with one of them.

Until SA gets alcohol approval then I'll probably try to piggyback off someone else's membership for the aforementioned items.

        • I have had several family friends cancel their membership because they simply didnt need items in bulk and everything was close to them, so fuel prices were not attractive either. For me and my family, its worth it just for the petrol, everything else is bonus.

  • +1

can you buy today if not a member?
they used to have a visitor pass which let you browse

    • Yes

  • +2

    Is phone okay?

  • +3

Don't forget, costco membership is 100% refundable.
You can go on any day of the year, sign up to be a member, walk in, buy or not buy anything, and then get your membership refunded on the way out.

    • Wait what? Has anyone done this?

      • +2

Yes, me. (or, technically my wife did)

      • +1

        Yeah, a few times haha.

      • +1

I cancelled my membership after 10 months and was refunded in full. However, I was told that I would not be able to get a new membership for 1 year. Not sure if that is still their policy

    • +5

Yeah it's refundable but then you get blocked for a couple of years to re-join after that. Can't remember where I've read that though.

      • Is that a new policy?
I haven't tried to sign up again recently, but it used to work.

        • -7

          Is that a new policy?

          It's only for wives.

        • +2

It's a new policy. I canceled after signing up 3 or so times but when I went to signup with the plan of keeping my membership recently I was told I have to wait a year.

So I just got the house card for myself. Circumvented that policy easily.

      • +5

They do not block you to join. You can join the next day, the only condition is that you won't be able to cancel it again.

      • Yeah you got few family members I suppose you can sign up with another ID

    • +6

You don't need to cancel the same day, may be use it for 364 days before cancelling.

      Source: I did it myself.

  • +1

    Hello OP,

What are the terms and conditions? We need to know if we can buy anything or not? Otherwise it is not a deal.

    • +16

What are the terms and conditions?

No buying. It's just for looking around.

It's worth taking the kids just to show them what a 10kg packet of Corn Flakes looks like.

      • +1

Those Corns Flakes must be huge.

      • -1

i dont think they have a 10Kg size packet of cereal

        • +1

They do have 10Kg Cadbury chocolate bar.

          • @sid101: they have 10Kg sizes of a lot of thing… just haven't seen one of cereal

            • @Archi: They might have 100 litres of Nutella jars.

@jv: you keep pictures of me around? it is getting freakish if not a little concerning.
at least i admit that the profile picture of me is real.

      • if the kids start eating everything like a buffet inside will you be forced to buy the things? considering im not a member how can they force me to buy it?

        • +1

No they will just put you to work out back

    • Hi, I don't know about any T&Cs. I went there and asked if there happened to be a free entry promotion today and they gave me the flyer.
When checking out you just hand it back to them.
      You can shop without restriction.

  • Can anyone confirm success with this. Looking to head into the Ringwood store

    • +1

      Worked for me.

    • Mate, did it work for you at Ringwood?

  • little bit confused as well. So we can just head in and have a look around or able to buy stuff?

I usually just say my mum is inside and im catching up with her, sus out what i want and get my friends to buy it. LOL

    • You can shop there. It worked for me.

  • +3

I cancelled 11mths into my membership, they told me I can't sign up for 12 mths. I signed up online again about 8mths later no worries. This was about 3 years ago don't know if they've change since.

    • Earlier this year they said they were tightening up on this.

  • How about parking? Is that free?

    • +1

      Yes.

    • +1

The Melbourne Docklands Costco parking is free but limited to 2 hours only. If you past the 2 hours, you will be charged a hefty amount.

  • +2

I just moved to a city with a Costco recently. They will let you in at anytime to have a look around, its not a one time offer. You need to go to the membership desk first and just ask for a guest pass. Can wander around but not purchase. Theyre a reasonable business, letting people in to look will only result in more memberships, its not a cult.

    • +1

After reading something similar to this on a forum I went once this year to have a look around and was told by the door person that I couldn't enter without signing up to a membership. So I left.

    • Is that right? On the website it says:

Can I come and have a look before I sign up?

      • Costco is a membership warehouse club and you will need a membership to visit and shop at Costco. Costco memberships are fully guaranteed; we would suggest that you sign up for a membership and come and give us a try. If you are not satisfied, we will refund your membership fee in full.

Anyway this deal is to shop there rather than have a look. I've updated it for clarity.

    • its not a cult

That’s what a cultist would say

  • Bummer it's too early for the Bundamba store in Qld. Anyone have an idea when it's scheduled to open?

  • Can you purchase today with this guest entry, or just browse?

    • Someone called. U can buy shit if u show the flyer on ur phone. No membership required

      • U can buy shit

Really? What's the price of shit

  • +1

Do gift cards still work as entry? I remember if you buy a gift card for a non-member, they can enter with the gift card. It was a loophole to get access and they can purchase with the gift card.

    • The only gift cards I've seen for Costoco (Australia) are the membership gift cards, where you are essentially buying someone membership.

I do now have reasons to pickup Waterpik….

  • +4

Just called up North Lakes store and after back and forth conversations with several people there they confirmed you can buy their stuff today without the membership by showing this voucher on your phone.
Might give it a try later today.

  • -1

Hmm this isnt really a deal without knowing the terms? You can walk into any costco and have a look around without a membership, just can't buy anything. If this offer doesn't allow you to purchase anything then its not offering anything special? If you can buy things without a membership then yeah its a good offer!

    • Someone called. U can buy shit if u show the flyer on ur phone. No membership required

  • They don't stock the Japanese scallops anymore.

They were from Hakodate in Hokkaido, a long way away from Daiichi.

  • Has anyone tried this successfully yet by any chance?

  • +1

    anyone tried Costco moorabbin?

    • yeah, they're really busy on Saturday mornings.

      • +1

Trying to figure out if you are being sarcastic

  • +1

Heads up that you don't need to show a membership card to purchase food from the 'restaurant'.

    • Is this for today or all the time?

      • +1

Technically All time as you can go in that way to the "membership booth" excuse. Then walk right passed it is the food area.

      • @auburn Costco, all the time. Restaurant is outside

      • All the time, but you’ll have to sneak past the person at the exit.

    • Well that sucks. The hot dogs taste so good!

    • Why is ‘restaurant’ in quotation marks 🤔

      • I didn't know what else to call it and it isn't really a restaurant.

After Googling I see they call it a Food Court.

  • +1

Anyone tried buying anything? I called up the Moorabbin store and they said you had to have the physical flyer in order to purchase something.

    • For me they gave me the flyer when I asked about the promo.
Hopefully it works for other people.

    • I bought stuff without a membership. When I went to the entry and showed them my phone, they gave me the physical Flyer. At checkout I gave the guy my flyer and he scanned it and then put it in his bin. Nothing more, he didn't check my bank card name or anything.

  • +1

I'm in lol. I showed the picture on my phone and they gave me a piece of paper to fill out with name email address and phone number. After that I used the paper to show the lady at the door and they let me in.

    • Which costco? Moorabin only allows if you have the physical copy :(

      • +1

Docklands. That sucks, sorry dude. This guy had printed copies already and he handed me one to fill out. Do you know anyone who has a membership? Maybe they can give you the email to print?

Edit: follow up for anyone wondering, I just went to the checkout and showed the guy my paper and he let me buy the stuff without checking the name on my bank card or anything. Very cool

        • +1

Nah, it's all good. Thanks. Have lots of fun in there….haha

  • does costco have a chainsaw? anyone know? if so what brands
