if you compare them physically, they both look the same and they may be the same model which makes the Telstra deal better.
Edit: They are the same model. They are both the Alcatel 1 which performance can be compared to the Samsung s4

Most likely Yes. Can unlock for $50 now, or wait 6 months after purchase and then $25 direct with Vodafone online.
If you google search, can often find cheaper unlock code alternatives for various model prepaid phones.
eBay is around £0.99, so under $2

Its not as easy as the ZTE models were.
