    Great. EBay card

  • Once per card?

  • Previous u could get many per flybuys account..?

  • +6

    "Once" is a killer.

  • +1

If you get an Ebay $50 card do you have to spend the $50 all in 1 hit or can I use it on a number of times (purchases) till I hit the $50 ?

    • +6

You can use it in multiple purchases with one eBay account.

      • Great Thanks !!!!

    • Hi,
I don’t think it really matters. You get the points as soon as you buy the eBay card and scan your flybuys. It is not linked to your eBay usage.
      Hope this helps

  • +4

My local coles doesnt stock eBay giftcards :(

  • Does anyone know can you use multiple Gift Cards on Ticketek?

Example: Ticket costs $120, can you pay $50 gift card + $50 gift card + $20 cash

  • +5

Ticketek = Australian Open. Ground Passes are $51.70 so this works perfectly.

  • Anyone had experience buying gift cards using Coles gift cards? Or is it the same situation as Woolies now?

    • Can't buy gift cards with gift cards, Flybuys points and can't even split your transaction with multiple payment sources.

      • +8

"Shouldn't" but can, I do it all the time.

Don't go to the self serve machines and try to disguise the fact that you're using a gift card to buy a gift card. While the staff member is writing the amount tendered on the card, I swipe the gift card as if it's a normal eftpos card (make sure you scratch off the pin prior to arrival and try to memorize it).

        Done it hundreds of times.

        • +1

Ah interesting. I only use self-checkout and it calls over the assistant where they aren't able to override.

          • +1

@neil: I use self serve for everything else except gift cards, it's crazy you can't do it normally but if I have to use deception then so be it lol

        • +2

This won’t work for making payment with Coles digital e-gift card though.

      • +1

Thought you still can at manned checkout but it’s upto the checkout operator’s disgression.

        • +2

Just don't tell them you're using a gift card. Use the old slight of hand and swipe it as a normal EFTPOS card :)

          • +1

            @iShibby: slight sleight of hand

            • +3

@endotherm: His sleight of hand is so good that you cant even see the e.

              • @ravonda: Santa uses a sleigh of hand before tea.

      • I don't think it is the system restricting the sale, or if it is maybe it is relegated to self serve. I have bought gift cards multiple times with coles e-gift cards.

Most recent example was one or two weeks ago when Itunes appstore cards were on sale. I bought a $200 Coles e-gift card before I did the weekly shop, went through the regular checkout and popped a $50 gift card onto the conveyor along with the rest of the groceries. Paid for the lot with the gift card no issues.

        • It's probably more when you go in with a $50 gift card and try to buy another $50 gift card. There really is no difference though.

        • My experience wasn't that positive. Similar to your case up to the payment point, then operator said if you're paying with egift card you have to pay for the gift card seperately and she removed it from the list.

    • I haven't had issues buying gift cards (like the listed ones/without additional card fee) using a Coles Group & Myer card.
Also earns flybuys points and Virgin status credit/$100 spend if your accounts are linked.

    • +1

This time and last time I bought a $50 Uber GC using a Coles Myer Grup GC EFTPOS style with a number starting as 6273 at the self serve check outs. The attendant is called over only to hand write the Date of Issue. I was then able to select which payment option I wanted. I also used $10 FB dollars.

  • Anyone know if the virgin cards can be used to pay for the taxes component only on an award booking?

    • From memory your only given one option of payment (cc).

      • If that is the case, what are the gift cards for?

        • Buying fare only paying flights, not velocity point+pay redemptions.

      • Is there only one payment option for normal bookings? Eg $90 flight and have$50 GC. I assume that can pay balance of $40 with Credit Card?

  • From my experience I have always been able to used discounted Coles gift cards to buy gift cards in store.

    • At the manned checkout counter though

      • What if you get a woman at the counter?

        • Then you smile and ask if they accept giftcards as payment.

      • +1

Also have done it at self checkout, no problem.

        • +1

How I thought they’ve stopped it.

  • Once per account which sucks.

Was no limit with Woolworths similar offers.

  • can you use Netflix gift card to load to your account and then use VPN to register for a different region pricing - say Netflix Turkey ?

    • +1

You will need to cancel your account to resubscribe to a different region, but you can only use the card while you are on the Aussie Netflix

  • Can I use the Google play cards for my tax bill?

    • +1

The gentleman on the phone said they only take iTunes and Western Union.

  • How does it work actually?
If I buy $50 Uber Gift Card from Coles, I get 2000 flybuy points. Am I correct?
So, if I have multiple fly buy cards, I can buy multiple $50 Uber cards from multiple Coles stores. Then I have multiple 2000 flybuy (10$). Am I correct?

    • If you have multiple flybuy accounts, yes. But you only get the 2000 points once per account, not per card. It's done automatically in the system, so no, going to different Coles stores won't work.

      • How is multiple accounts different from multiple cards? If you open a new flyby account you get a new card; otherwise, how do you get a new card without opening a new account?

        • how do you get a new card without opening a new account?

Open additional cards under the same account. I have four attached to mine

          • @kerfuffle: Oh.. What is the benefit of additional cards under same account? Multiple person can use …?

            • +1

@welcomeUniverseWorld: So other people can contribute to your flybuys points balance. Mine's a supplementary of my dad's account; he's racked up heaps of points thanks to topping up my Opal card during bonus point time

  • So people with multiple Flybuys cards…Does using the same mobile number and a PO Box suffice or are they more stringent than woolies?

  • eBay gift card is like promo code, right? So cannot stack with ongoing 10% off sitewide?

    • it does

    • You can

    • +1

Nah, I think it works like store credit. It kinda gets added to your 'balance' and you can pick to take it out of there instead of your card/PayPal.

  • So if I buy one Netflix card and one eBay card, would I get 2000 or 4000 points?

    • 2000

  • -1

They charge $5 something for buying this card?

    • +1

      No, face value.

    • It's usually $5.95 for pre-paid visa etc.
      Not these cards

  • We get 2000 points either from $50 or $100 ebay card, right? So it's better to get the $50 one.

    • I don't think coles stock the $100 one.

    • Then use the 2000 points to redeem an ebay voucher through flybuys for $10, winning.

      • Worth noting you generally can't stack those with eBay promotions. Although I somehow managed to do it once.

        • You can - they're entered in the same box at checkout but you can stack them.

          • @Turffe: In my experience, doing so just removes the first promo code. Note I'm talking about ebay vouchers (e.g. from flybuys) with promo codes. Not gift cards with promo codes - which do stack.

            • +1

Note I'm talking about ebay vouchers (e.g. from flybuys) with promo codes

Yep definitely no stacking with promo codes but can stack with gcs.

              • @CVonC: Just to clarify, do these eBay vouchers from flybuys stack with gift cards purchased from eBay?
The T&C from flybuys say: "If the value of goods purchased is less than the total voucher value, the balance of the voucher will be forfeited and cannot be used towards future purchases. One voucher can be used per transaction for one-time use only. You cannot use your voucher in conjunction with any other eBay coupon, voucher or redemption code." https://www.flybuys.com.au/rewards#/money-off-shop/vouchers/…. It appears these don't function like the eBay gift cards if any unused portion is forfeited.

                • @rski: The T&C on the back of the card I grabbed from Coles today:
                  https://i.postimg.cc/2yQt88sX/Pc054667c.jpg

Sounds much the same as the Paypal/ebay gift cards…

EDIT, sorry, I see what you're talking about now… vouchers from Flybuy points… my bad… didn't realize you could do that..

                • @rski:

Just to clarify, do these eBay vouchers from flybuys stack with gift cards purchased from eBay?

To re-iterate what I previously replied - yes these eBay vouchers from flybuys stack with gift cards purchased from eBay/Woolies. I have redeemed $50 worth from flybuys and paid the rest with gift cards purchased using discounted Woolies egiftcards (when it was possible) before. Any eBay voucher's remaining balance, if not fully used, is forfeited.

                  • @CVonC: So they are slightly different then. Unused portions of these vouchers via flybuys are forfeited but unused portions of eBay gift cards still remain in your account for up to 3 years.

                    • @rski: Yeah good thing is is that you can use the voucher to buy a giftcard anyway.

                      • @CVonC: Cool. All cleared up. Thanks.

      • How can you redeem an eBay voucher through flybuys?

        • log into the flybuys shop and its in the redeem menu.

  • +3

Transfer to Velocity to knock 1/5 down.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/417735

  • +3

Just spoke with flybuys; just to be clear this promo is not "one per account" "per lifetime". You can claim the next time the promo comes up and get the bonus points as long as it is purchased within the promo date. I'm sure a couple of people will be wondering about this.

1st time post - long time lurker.

    • +2

No one ever said it was one per lifetime? (Or in my case, thought it was one per lifetime.)

    • +3

Once per account per promo period, this has always been the case.

    • Good point. Thanks for clarifying

    • +1

      Lol once per lifetime. 😂😂😂

  • So 20% off one eBay gift card ($10 off $50)?

I'm kind of glad it's only one per account or I'd clear out the shop (if someone doesn't do it first!)

    • Then he will sell them for 5% or 10% on ozbargain.

      • he

Did you just assume their gender!!!

Haha but yeah, you are spot on. Around 6% I reckon, leaving them with a 14% profit. At $50 it might deter those just wanting to flip it for profits..

  • just checking, you can't use ebay gift card to buy collectable coins right?

    • +1

Looks like you can't according to the T&C's:

The Gift Card may not be used to pay eBay or PayPal service fees. The Gift Card also may not be used to buy eBay Gift Cards, third party gift cards, gift certificates, coupons, coins, paper money, virtual currency, or items generally considered to be "bullion" (for example, gold, silver, and other precious metals in the form of coins, bars, or ingots).

  • +1

    Thanks OP

  • Does it mean if I get 2000 FB points on eBay gift card, I can’t get it on Uber gift card?

    • Yes. You can only get 2000 points once per flybuys account.

  • +1

Dam, shouldn't have spent $500 on freaking 5%!

    • I feel your pain

    • +2

You're acting like $550 worth of eBay gift cards is too much.
