      • Do they do this every 12 months?

        • This offer, or ones like it, comes out regularly so you can be fairly confident you will see it again once this finishes.

          • @Lunarboogie: Ah okay. Thanks!

In a dilemma. Have the Citi Platinum card and was going to replace that with this. But if this comes up every so often maybe I should look for another rewards card else where. Any recommendations?

  • Already applied this card yesterday.

    • Called them yesterday and approved yesterday.
I think I'll receive the card next week.

  • Can't apply, ANZ website says there no such Street Type called "Bend" nor is there a suburb called "Cockburn Central" in WA.

Their live chat asked me to call or go into a branch. I asked about the 80k points, they said too bad, probably not.

Just received my card today. Haven't activate yet. So, let me ask…

    1. I have to spend $500 within the first 3 months of approval before I get the complimentary return domestic flight, right?
    2. I have to spend $1500 within the first 3 months of approval before I get 80,000 bonus Velocity Points, right?
    3. What are the eligible purchases?
    4. There is a $225 annual fee. When do I pay this? If by the end of the 12 months, can I cancel on the 11th month, and avoid the fee, and still enjoy the two benefits above?
    • +1

      4) Nice try ;) You'll be paying that on your first statement.

  • +3

How long between card activation and the velocity number request? I've received my card, activated it, spent on it - but no email.

100% signed up via 80,000 points link. Took printout of the application which at the top shows 80,000 points offer.

    • not getting any email too :(

      • did you end up getting the email?

        • nope, i called them to enter the velocity number and got my points

  • Activated my card today, no email to enter my velocity number… is this deal 100% working??

    • The deal is working. I got my card on Friday but only received the unique code email to enter with my velocity number today.

      • I got card Friday, activated Saturday. Still no email :(

        • Ahh I activated on Friday if that makes any difference…. With any luck you'll have it soon.

  • Hello,

Can someone help me? I got the card, but haven't activated yet cause I don't remember if I had clicked through and applied through Point Hacks (and thus get the 80,000 points). How do I confirm it?

    • +1

Seriously, how could you do/not do that! Go back thru your internet history and see what webpages you visited….eg pointhacks just before ANZ…. Won’t make any difference now but.

  • I received my email yesterday, which made it clear…

YOU’RE ON YOUR WAY TO 80,000 VELOCITY POINTS
Enter your Velocity ID and your unique promo code to earn your Velocity Points

It had a unique code and a link to visit to enter velocity ID and unique code.

Have nearly hit $1500 spend. Going to push it over $1500 today and pray they hit prior to 31/12/18 to fling to SQ. Not the end of the world if they dont, but would be a christmas bonus :)

    • when did you activate the card?

      • late last week. so maybe give it 5 working days for it to come through?

        • I received on Friday, activated on Saturday.

Today I received SMS from ANZ to activate my card.

          But still no email :(

          • @gembel: i think i received thursday and activated that night.. so maybe a day or two away.

            • +1

@donbot: Dos anyone know if we can start spending before that email comes through ? i mean would that be still counted towards $1500 spend if we start using it before that email?

              • @Danger: No idea sorry. I just started spending.

            • @donbot: still nothing today :(

              • @gembel: Same here.. Card received on last Friday but email so far

                • @Danger: I activated mine last Friday.. got the email today.

    • Was this in your email with the subject: Hi [NAME], welcome on board ?

I have received this email asking me to sign up for ANZ rewards, but no mention of the velocty points =(

      • +1

Just under the 3 steps for using ANZ rewards there is a blue section that says “You are on your way to 80,000 velocity points”. Then it has a unique id and a submit here button. If that’s missing maybe you didn’t apply through the point hacks link. If you don’t apply through that link then i’d say you won’t get the points.

        • Yeah that's missing from my email.

I definitely applied through points hacks. Ill contact ANZ.

    • I called ANZ, my card is confirmed to have the 80,000 velocity points bonus.

But they told me to wait for the email to enter the velocity number, they won't take down the number from me.

They advised the email I will get it once I spend $1500

      • The link you click to from the email does seem to indicate you get your unique id once you have met the spend requirement but both my partner and I hae received the email after spending less than $20 each on the card. I’m assuming the velocity points will just be credited after we meet the $1,500 spend.

        • I still haven't received this email yet :(
          Activated on Saturday

      • I activated my card today. I called them, and confirmed that my account has that offer of 80,000 after $1,500 spend, but I haven't got any emails too. Don't remember entering Velocity ID though!

  • So here is my chronology thus far.
Wednesday 5/12/18 - Application, Check, Approval
Monday 10/12/18 - Received card in mail
    Tuesday 11/12/18 - Activated card
Tuesday 11/12/18 - First use small purchase
Thursday 13/12/18 - Received ANZ Rewards welcome email (Link to Exclusive Velocity Frequent Flyer offers + unique promo code). https://www.anz.com.au/promo/personal/credit-cards/exclusive…

That link says… ‘Once you’ve been approved for your ANZ credit card and have met the eligibility criteria for the offer, including any qualifying spend (where applicable), we’ll provide you with a unique promo code. This unique promo code, and your Velocity membership details, must be provided in order for us to process the allocation of your bonus Velocity Points to your Velocity Frequent Flyer membership account. To submit your Velocity membership details and unique promo code online, please click here. Alternatively, call us on 1800 504 872 to provide your unique promo code and Velocity Frequent Flyer membership number over the phone. Your bonus Velocity Points will usually be allocated to your Velocity Frequent Flyer account within 2 months of us receiving your unique promo code and Velocity details.’

So the contradiction I observed is that
The link says meet qualifying spend first, then I would receive the unique promo code.
But I haven’t even met the qualifying spend yet.

    I’ll wait and see.

    • still haven't received my email… already spent $1500

      • Mileage variance. Hope you get your promo code soon enough.

      • FYI I never received the email but ANZ was able to confirm I was on the offer - after multiple phone calls to the credit card solutions team I have finally received my points!

    • I never received my email, this was from an application back in September. I spoke to a lady at ANZ and she said the "unique" codes are actually the generic but I haven't been able to find out if this is the case. My friend who applied at the same time received an email + thier points. I still haven't received my points. I'm curious if the code is generic then I can just put her promo code with my details - is someone able to share thier code through PM to see if it's unique or generic. ANZ confirmed I am definitely on the offer and to wait until 3 months have passed before I escalate.

      • im curious too about the promo code, if it's generic i'd like to get it too!

      • 3 months?! The terms and conditions say 'Your bonus Velocity Points will usually be allocated to your Velocity Frequent Flyer account within 2 months of us receiving your unique promo code and Velocity details.' Sounds like the ANZ rep's stalling tactic to wish the problem away.

  • Is it worth the wife getting a card too separately on top of this card we've already got (wife supplementary holder)? We've already got the 80000 points on my primary card. Also what's the value of 80,000 points? We'd be theoretically paying about $500 in credit card fees. Is it worth it to redeem paying as less as possible on a flight (Asia/Europe). Trying to work this all out. Thanks guys.

    • You can always get the card and cancel it after redeeming a flight? 2 return flights to MEL-PER is 70k points + $80 ish in fees. So I think it is worth doing, u can always use your points for hotels or upgrades too

      • Thanks onthehunt it's a lot to pay almost $500 in credit card set up fees (3 cards in total). How much $ would we get off our intended flights to Asia/Europe next year? Now I've gotten 80000 points on my card, do I transfer my points to an airline and how do I redeem my perks if I cancel the card?

        • I'm not sure on international flights, I haven't really looked into it. The points are credited to your velocity account so If you cancel your card you won't lose your velocity points. I would book my free flight with ANZ first before cancelling the card - the free flight pretty much pays for your credit card fees

          • @onthehunt: Ok thanks. Would you recommend the wife getting her own travel rewards card although she's supplementary on mine to get another 80,000 points but that's another $225 credit card set up fee :(

            • @Jay408: Didn't you have to pay $55 to get her supplementary on yours? For an extra $175 I would as the points don't expire if you keep accumulating on your velocity account - that's 80k points + a free return flight but you do have to spend the $1500

              • @onthehunt: Yeah I had to pay $55 to get her a supp card. We can spend another $1500 in 3 months. What's the $175; the annual fee if she applied for herself is $225? We kinda have to go to Europe next year so trying to work out cost value on that. Bit complicated trying to work it all out. Also our preferred airline is not with Velocity as we've been earning points with them :(

                • @Jay408: The $225 annual fee is $175 + $55 (for the rewards program)so if you just cancel her supp card and get your wife her own card it will be $225 and only 2 cards in total, you can transfer ur velocity points to krisflyer but that's a whole new thing I haven't looked into yet. I would just do a dummy flight + pay with points on your velocity account to work out how much it will cost.

  • Anyone know if i can add an infant to the complimentary flight booking? I couldn't see it in ANZ t&c's.

    • +1

Give them a call in the morning. Can't see it either. Try this too https://www.pointhacks.com.au/travelling-with-infants-using-…

    • +3

Shouldn't be an issue as the infant travels for free on domestic flights

    • +1

Wont be an issue but I would add the infant through Virgin once ANZ have sent you the booking and just say you want to add an infant

  • So, I applied on 9 Dec, got approved on 10 Dec, checked my mail today and found the card (14 Dec). But, no pin? I’m also new to ANZ and it says I’ve to go in to verify myself. When will he pin arrive?

    • +2

You've got to go into branch to get verified, choose pin etc.

      • Thanks! Had a chat with ANZ on Facebook who couldn’t give me as clear an answer as yours!

        • NW :)

  • Whats the conditions on the free flight?

    • A whole lotta T & C https://www.anz.com.au/personal/credit-cards/rewards/travel-…

      Complimentary return domestic flight:
Spend $500 on eligible purchases in the first three months and book your flights at least 60 days before you travel [1]. You get a complimentary Virgin Australia return domestic flight each year until your card is cancelled so check out the map and start planning your next adventure.

      Click on the "1."

  • Have spent $2000 on it, still haven't received the email to enter my velocity number 1 week since I activated it..

    I'm getting scammed by ANZ??

I called them up, they confirmed that my card has the bonus Velocity points promotion and nothing they can do about it if I don't receive the email?? Wtf?

    • Go into your local branch asap they should help you or call someone internally.

  • When you get the velocity points on the anz card can you hold off transferring it to the velocity account until the bonus % promos come around? Is it easy to arrange manual transfers of velocity points with anz? Because with Amex it seemed a hassle to get in contact each time and activate / deactivate the transfer of points.

    • Nope, the bonus points are automatically sent to velocity. From that point, you will acrcrue reward points which can be “warehoused” before transferring with a bonus promotion.

  • +1

I'm not sure if this is a better deal, or the other one with the Qantas Frequent Flyer points:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/409692?page=1#comment

Assuming you qualify for both - and view Qantas and Virgin Velocity Points as equal - with the Receive/Costs that I feel are relevant (I know both offer insurances, price protection etc).

    ANZ BLACK
    Receive:
    - 120,000 Qantas points ~ $1200
    - 75 status credits
    - 1 QF pt/$1 (majority spend in AUS)
    - 2 free Qantas Lounge Passes
    Cost:
    - Annual Fee: $425 - $150 = $275
    - Need to spend $7,500 in 3 months

    ANZ Rewards Travel
    Receive:
    - 80,000 Velocity Points ~ 800
    - 1 free return flight ~ 300
    - 0.75 Velocity pt/$1 (majority spend in AUS)
    - 2 free Virgin Lounges
    - no foreign transaction fees
    Cost:
    - Annual Fee: $225
    - Need to spend $1500 in 3 months

It seems like the ANZ Rewards travel is better, but I just can't help but feel like "wasting" my $75k+ income by applying for a card needing a $35k income.

  • My application was declined. I don't really understand the reason why but is there a way to re apply or get them to review the application?

    • I’m assuming you’ve spoken to ANZ before asking here? If you get credit declined it doesn’t look good on your credit rating. If speaking to ANZ didn’t get you anywhere I wouldn’t be reapplying for credit until you are in a financial position where you are 100% sure you will be approved. Especially if it’s just to get the points.

      • No, I haven't spoken to them yet. I'll give them a call.

    • how long did they take before they gotten back to you declining your application?

      • +1

        Instantly.
I did call them to clarify. The feedback given was that my expenses v repayment ratio was high to warrant an instant decline.
The ratio is calculated by an algorithm taking into account expenses stated and the credit limit of non ANZ cards - and that in spite of I have $0 owing on all cards. Oh well bad luck.

        • Same boat. Answered questions honestly $0 owing on 3 cards, ANZ FF Black is my usual earning card but wanted the points for this and was going to use this on my month long trip of the US accumulating points.

Will prob apply next month when I cancel my StGeorge card as that has no use now

  • +1

Absolute pain applying for this card, but was approved in the end.

Did it take long to get the velocity email ?

    • I have yet to get mine. It's been 2 weeks since I got the card. I've already spent the $1500, but yet not received the Velocity email :(

  • Hi all! I’ve a question here.

I’ve received the card and am using it for expenditures overseas currently. But, I just realise I don’t have an online account to log onto to see how much I’m spending.

How do I do that? I do know how much I’ve spent but in foreign dollars. I tried to register for internet banking through my card number and they said I can’t. I do have my customer number readily available either.

    Thanks!

    • I use the app. Since I wasn't an ANZ customer prior to this credit card, I walked in to verify my identify, and set up the app.

  • Schweeet! 80k velocity already hit my account on 28/12, just in time to transfer to KF before devaluation!

Seriously shocked to see it in there so quickly! Go ANZ!

    • What's the devaluation?

      • The conversion from VFF to KF is changing from 1.35:1 to 1.55:1 on 1 January

    • When did you receive the Velocity email?

      • 10 December.

  • When do I put in or notify them of my virgin FF number?

  • +1

FYI, just got the email saying, "Your 80,000 bonus Velocity Points are waiting to be credited to your Velocity Frequent Flyer account". Filled in details (unique promo code + Velocity account number), waiting for it to come into my account. Yay!

    • FYI, 80k points in already!

  • -3

Wait, PointHacks earns $150.00 for each one of us who applies? The least they could do is share half their commission!

    • You do get 80k points though….. at least worth $800 + the free flight.

  • Is it possible to book the free domestic flights over Easter or Christmas holidays or are those periods generally blacked out?

    • +1

No blackouts AFAIK - but the flights have to be available in one of the discount economy fare buckets. The best indication of availability is to look at Velocity reward availability.

  • Got my points within a week of activating my card. Very quick.

    • nice.

  • Anyone who's used this for o/s travel know if fx rates are as competitive as 28degrees?

  • Applied and uploaded proof of income. Hopefully, it would get through this time…

  • Hi Everyone,

This is my first CC with points.
Im a little confused on how this all works. So before I make a phone call to ANZ I thought I ask here.

Are ANZRewards and Velocity Rewards different?
Do I need to submit to transfer the points over from 1 platform to the other? or are they linked.
Do I accumulate points in addition to the bonus 80k points once I hit the $1500 threshold?

I guess this also links to my first question "Earn 1.5 Reward Points per $1 spent on eligible purchases up to $2,000 per statement period"
Are the points counted towards ANZReward and I need to transfer them?

    Any clarity would help.

    • +3

Rewards points and Velocity points are different. 2 Rewards points = 1 Velocity point.

This card earns you Rewards points, which you can choose how to use them e.g. converting them to Velocity points, redeeming items from the ANZ Rewards store.

Note however the 80k bonus Velocity points will be transferred to your Velocity account directly. You will receive an email asking you to supply your Velocity number sometime after you have been approved for the card.

You will earn Rewards points for your spend, regardless of whether it is the first $1,500 or not. Though the first $1,500 spend will also earn you 80k Velocity points.

      Hope this helps.

  • How do we ensure that we are under the Pointshack 80,000 bonus points offer? I signed up via the link from this deal but wanted to make sure and nothing I've received from ANZ thus far has specified being part of the deal

  • Is this the best Velocity points credit card deal out atm?

  • Has anyone tried sharing this card using their mobile wallet (apple pay/gpay) to avoid paying for a supplementary card? Or is that a breach of Ts/Cs?

  • Interested in applying for my wife for this card because of the low income requirement and it looks like one of the better bonus point deals. She is only on $40000 part time with one cc (coles) with a $4000 limit paid each month in full. No other loans besides mortgage. I’m think her chances of getting the card are reasonable………

  • Applied yesterday, sent the supporting documents through, they called to check some details and said no docs had been received. Sent docs again, got an sms today to say Docs received and will finalise application within 2 business days.

Thought it might be a bit quicker than that heh.

    • +1

just got approved. then make min. spend, sell lounge passes, book flight, get 80,000 points, cancel card.
