theyre great until you need to actually make a claim. expect to get very delayed responses. theyre cheap for a reason

      • They're not really that cheap, you can get cheap, they actually have a fantastic reputation. What was your experience with them?

      • They're insurance comapany. Im pretty sure there isnt one that likes paying out

      • Have seen a close relative claim first hand for a serious accident overseas and they were excellent.

    • There were some comments in the last deal that you might like to read: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/421067

    • I've used TID for travel to the UK, USA (twice) and Europe (twice). I've been fortunate enough to never need to claim, so I can't comment on that process.

OTOH, I did have to work through a claim with NRMA travel insurance / Covermore travel insurance regarding a claim of my fathers. He became ill while on a cruise with my sister in 2016. He was transported from the cruise ship to hospital and never recovered. Documented medical expenses were around $12k. NRMA / Covermore repeatedly lost documentation or requested the same documents be filled in multiple times. They asked my fathers GP to fill out the same form THREE TIMES! They asked the cruise company for the same information FOUR TIMES. After 10 months of being faffed around the claim was denied. We didn't get a penny. He may as well not have bothered with travel insurance.

      I would definitely recommend them.
Had a friend who made a claim for a broken jaw in India and TID were fantastic.

Used them a few times without ever making a claim but this year my partner required emergency surgery in Poland. The language barrier made it pretty tough with the medical staff. Got TID to ring me and they were great, they told me that if the hospital required money upfront they can arrange that straight away, if not they can pay the invoice on our behalf or we pay it and they pay us back. They offered us someone who could give medical advice in Poland if we required another opinion. Then they set me up on a whatsapp group so we could communicate easily, they checked up on how my wife was going post surgery.

My only slight negative was that when we got home and processed the claim it said "if i recall" it would take up to 3 weeks, well it was the last day of the 3rd week we received the claim, they stuck to their time line but it just felt a little long to wait

TID are my pick for travel insurance. Claimed once and it was a smooth process. I'd recommend them over anyone else

    Promo code ‘FRENZY15’

  • I recently used 1cover whilst travelling to Bali. Had some pretty serious heart complications whilst there (in ICCU for 6 days) and 1cover were fantastic, I wasn't out of pocket even 1rp! They rang me when I needed to speak to them as I didn't have a working sim card, I just sent them an email using free wifi. Ended up costing them nearly $5,000AUD. Hope this helps.
