  • This is an excellent deal.

    • +1

I missed out on this same deal back in June/July so was extremely happy to nab it when it came up again! After being told I would have to wait until Jan for any stock from multiple stores, getting it delivered on Thursday is just the icing on the cake :D

  • +1

This is an amazing price for an amazing camera.

  • Use the gift card as well for more discount?

  • +3

On a side note, thanks OP, purchased, I was waiting for a A7RIII but at this price, too irresistible. Will use the $$$ saved to buy G lenses.

  • great price for this brilliant camera.

  • let's see how long this will take to wait :)

  • I waited for close to five months. Good luck.

    • +1

I was nervous too, but as I said in my post, I ordered on Friday, got my tracking details on Monday and it's due to arrive in my hot little hands on Thursday :)

      • +1

Yeah reports are Sony has finally started catching up with orders and stock levels are returning to normal. I ordered one and only waited two weeks about 6 weeks ago.

  • +1

Around $2190 after TRS. Ugh tempting.

    • +11

      LOL…

      • +1

In your case it might be 25 megaDixel :)

    • +3

      don't take the bait people…

      • Shhhh let them release the pressure, better here than in reality

    • +5

You're comparing a full frame sensor to that tic-tac of a sensor in your phone ? LOL

      • -5

It’s all a marketing bullshit that they use to brainwash customers to buy buy buy

        • Have you ever met a wedding photographer that uses their phone?

          • -1

@geeluv: Normal pictures nothing Special About them of course my phone can do it and some touch of special effects

          Can your phone do this?

P.s. body is only one half of it. You need lenses too.

        • +1

Or there is no brain to wash it.

    • L

  • Damn, decisions, decisions! Tossing up between this or GH5 which can be had for ~$1850. Can claim TRS in Jan as well.

I have had a Nikon D90 for 8 years now and time to upgrade so would need to purchase adaptors. GH5 seems excellent in all areas except low light, Sony has some cons as well. Any advice?

    • +1

Maybe I am bias, but I believe Sony are front runners in mirrorless cameras, where as Nikon have invested more time in DSLRs. May be wrong though.

Also, I'd be inclined to sell lenses and go with native glass (or something like Sigma with the correct mount).

      • The GH5 is Panasonic Lumix range. I don't think I would be going down Nikon path for mirrorless. I would be doing more photography than video though, but not professionally.

Most of my lenses are Sigma so would just need an adaptor.

        • I heard GH5 focus is rather slow? I haven't play with it but extremely happy with Sony. Though for photo I still prefer Canon DSLR, the colour science is still best.

    • Sony were one of the first to push the mirrorless story, Canon (I'm an ex Canon lover) and Nikon stuck to their old ways a few years too late to the game, they pillaged their loyal customers for years and I personally really got frustrated with them, hence moved onto Sony and loving it, bought this as a second camera for events.

Simplest example of Canon's incompetence, their mirrorless camera has one SD card slot.. they either completely blindly ignore what customers want, or they are just trying to save money every way possible while charging ridiculous amounts.

      • its only this generation that sony has 2 slots and even then both slots are not the same …

nikons and canons ff mirrorless entries arent that bad… but sony a7iii is the king.

        • Yes agree, this iteration of A7 series is the best and makes it worthwhile to switch (which I did). Canon had every opportunity under the sun to match the success of A7III but came out a little flat and arguably behind Sony.

    • GH5 if you need 10 bit / 60Fps 4K video. Otherwise go for A7 III without a doubt.
GH5 can be had for 2k and that comes with $300 EFTPOS card too end up 1.7k before TRS.

    • +1

I got a gh5 mainly cause of the video aspect but strongly considered this just there was no stock!

The Sony is better for photography.

Gh5 autofocus is still pretty crap. Sony looks way better
Photos are ok for autofuccw just still hunts on video, so I often use manual focus

Although there are more video options 4k60p, 180fps on gh5 better ibis lighter lens/form factor

Although Panasonic are now releasing full frame so it's not clear what would happen to micro 43!

Still really clise.if you do more video maybe that's tip you over gh5. Otherwise Sony would be a better choice probably

    • You'll lose autofocus with adaptors. Nikon cant even get their own D lens to autofocus on their own adaptor…

    • Just to confuse you more, considered Fuji X-T3?

  • Only 4 sold this hour, me one of them. Hopefully they have stock… no number to contact them on to check. They seem legit though, decent to good reviews online.

        +1

      • But this store is 'no frills Sydney' I think they're based out of Petersham?

    • They have stock

      • How did you check mate? No frills only have an email

        • after the last sale, they have learn the lesson, only 6 left.

        • +4

I did check with them, they responded promptly. There will also be an additional stock if they cancel my order after telling my partner who has already purchased one as a present.. Whoops

          • @[Deactivated]: Cheers mate, appreciate it! Good camera, I have it and cannot recommend it more.

            • +1

@tightm8: Welcome.. funny how the seller is prompt to answer my stock enquiry but after requesting a cancellation they ignore me and don't respond. Frustrating

              • +1

@[Deactivated]: Good luck, hopefully they get back to you

                • +2

@tightm8: Mine got refunded, so check the listing as another will come back in stock.

    • +2

      You tell em

    • 2.4k actually! And you need $600 lenses! What a ripoff Duram, you tell 'em.

  • +1

I just bought a Canon EOS R. This A7III is also a good camera tho!

    • I considered this because all of my lenses are canon… but there were a few things that really put me off after watching the reviews. However I'm sure it's still an amazing camera. But given the similar price to the A7iii - I went the Sony.

  • +2

Dont forget cashrewards for another 1% additional saving

  • +1

I emailed and they had confirmed stock.
I also emailed to confirm that the Aus warranty is 2 years and they confirmed.
Because if it's a grey import - it would only have a one year warranty and technically still could be considered as 'genuine Australian warranty' depending on how you read into it.

I purchased and am excited! I am also travelling next week, so will take advantage of the TRS.
I also used the Cash Rewards site for 1% extra cash back… so that will pay for my express postage.
Now I just have to find a bargain metabones adaptor!!

  • Aaaand it's now out of stock - you guys snapped them up quick! :)

  • +2

Great deal on the A7iii. Pity Sony doesn't have a current promotion on this model.

Same seller is selling A7Riii for $4675 which is $3740 after discount. Sony is having a $500 EFTPOS gift card promotion which brings the effective price down to $3240.

    • This is a good price too, but I believe the best price ever on this was $2950 after Cashback by DigiDirect.

  • Still 2 available?

Someone get it quick before I get it

    • Someone get it quick before I get it

      you are safe

      • Phew.. really almost bought it haha

  • Except lowlight situation I prefer GH5

    • +2

I think most people buy this camera for both video and stills. For still, GH5 can't compete.

  • +1

I would rather get a6500. Better value IMHO and lighter. Save the money to get better lens.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPZEukLE5EU

    • Wow I am impressed by the a6500. I have something more to think about.

    • i had a6500 mainly for stills. then upgraded to a7rii with a GM lens and the difference was night and day.

now upgraded to a7riii and won't look back to APS-C cameras!

  • Picked up the a7r3 on black friday after sale discount, eftpos card and cash back worked out to be around the 2800 mark. Just got sick and tired of waiting for the a7iii to be on sale.

  • Bought last time and it took them over 4 months to deliver this. Be careful

    • -1

I ordered on Friday, and it's due to be delivered on Thursday. Another poster has said they called to confirm it's actually in stock this time - looks like they've learnt their lesson :)

    • Did they give you the option to cancel? That's pretty ridiculous!
Surely they're not supposed to sell items on backorder without clearly telling you they have none in stock.

      • Yes I could cancel, but was ok to wait. They were very professional about it and have great customer service so no complaints at all. It was due to a stock shortage from Sony. Just saying be careful if you want it soon as delivery can take a while due to the high demand

  • Wow what a deal:( Missed out

    • Keep an eye out, there was only 2 available on Friday when I bought mine. They must have received another shipment this week to restock, so it's possible they'll get more again?

      • Will do thanks for the headsup:)

  • I have a friend that ordered from no-frills a few months ago, he only got his shipping notification last week, so it seems they have some stock leftover from a batch order. (well now there is none leftover).

  • I ordered when it said "more than 10 available" so hoping I got in on time.

  • Nice. I originally ordered back in June and finally got it today. And now I see this….

    • Yep, like a said above, I think a lot of these were ordered around your time and there is a oversupply now maybe?

      • +1

Yeah they probably got a big shipment to fulfil the rest.

At least I got the extra goodies and battery for waiting for so long

  • Is there any other deals out there? In the market for the a7iii but can't seem to find any good deals.

  • This nay better than my current A7?

  • Wow what a good price! Missed it, hoping to get the next similar deal!

  • -3

Too expensive IMHO. I don't mean the deal, I mean the camera itself. No lens, just body! Wow, I mean you take pictures with it.

A DSLR is nothing unless you have good glass. And if you have good glass, several lenses, and time to take good photos, you must be a pro. If you are not a pro, then a cheaper or older DSLR camera will be fine.

What exactly is it about this camera that justifies the enormous price tag? You can't say 4K video, because that's everywhere. And video without good stabilization is rubbish. Unless you use tripod with smooth video head. But then you need to ask yourself if you're going to lug around a tripod. :-)

    • +1

Agree with some of your points.

Reminds me of a friend who has a Sony A9 with a lovely G Master lens attached while he leaves it in Auto everything and wonders how I get a better photo with my little fujifilm x100f..

But what is too expensive to you is pocket change for others….

    • +1

I own the Sony a7ii (including some really good glass ) and I can tell you that is one is extremely good compared to what I have and probably any other camera in that price range. Really depends how seriously you take your photoraphy I guess. I've had people make the same comment about mobile phones too :)

      Some pros:

      Much better AF
Iso performance is insanely good…almost as good as a a7sii
Continuous AF is much better and accurate
      Has Continouse Eye AF
Silent shooting mode (without the green banding issue)
Much improved color science (almost compareable to Canon colors).
The batteries last twice as long.
      Dual SD card slots.
Much more burst shots (can't remember the exact number) and ability to view live while shooting in burst
Much bigger buffer and faster writting speeds.

I am only into photography but from what I've read the vidoes improvements are also massive.

    • @cerealKiller I agree this camera is not really for amateur. Though on the video side, this camera has 6 axis stabilisation on the sensor (so whatever lens you put it will stabiliste it) and plus it has 100fps full frame for slow motion footage. Apart from that touch screen which is highly useful. I can make professional film with this camera using handheld no problem.

      • Sure but you still don't have tracking / walking stabilization, you'll need a gimbal for that. Also stabilization has been around a long time inside the actual lens (on some lenses) or even in post if you're pro editing.

Slow motion is nice, but again.. not unique. I have no doubt it's an excellent camera, but the market is flooded with excellent cameras, many at better prices.

        • Well, if you’re really a pro you don’t rely on post editing stabilisation… also image stabilisation on lenses is only 2-axis, this camera has 6-axis stabilisation on the sensor so you can’t compare (also means you have more access to non-IS lenses) thats why you don’t necessarily need a tripod/monopod.. Sure for walking you need a gimbal but thats pretty much with every camera on the market atm (except DJI Osmo but thats in its own category).

Not many camera offer full frame slow motion up to 120fps. And full frame 4K. Certainly not in this price range. IMHO this is best value camera for video. I shoot weddings and I know many fellow shooters who agrees. And I think the price is very well justified.. having gone through 7 cameras in the past for my video work, this one no doubt gave me best value for my money

But again as u said, for amateur you definitely have cheaper options available.

          • @John: The A7 III is 5-axis stabilisation. Pitch, yaw, X, Y, Z

Sounds like a good camera anyway. I'm still rockin my Canon 7D. Such a good reliable camera, probably dirt cheap on used market. Add a few nice lenses and you're still under the body-only price of the Sony! I have a dedicated Sony video camera, which is so much nicer ergonomically than a DSLR for shooting video.

  • Hey guys, i use the Bzbargain iOS app with notifications turned on but i barely get any of the deals as notifications and when i do they've already been on the website for hours. What is the best way to be notified of new deal instantly? Thanks!

  • Had to log in and comment. Ordered mine back in June and just received it last week. Good luck!

  • +1

Ordered today via this offer (thanks OP!).
paid for express shipping and got a startrack express tracking number same day.
    estimated delivery is tomorrow…. woohoo!

    • Weird, I a still have not got my shipping notification and was an early purchaser!

      • Same nothing yet.. I hope I don't need to wait 6 months for it.

      • My Auspost tracking app says it's onboard for delivery today.
I did select express postage though for $9. Maybe it's easier for them to ship via courier than via auspost?

        • +1

It shouldn't matter, the date it leaves the warehouse should be the same regardless of express or not. The arrival time should obviously be different, hence you pay for it. I will be furious if they don't deliver on their promise when I purchased, said by Friday I should receive. But happy for you! =)

          • @tightm8: Thanks! Completely agree. You would think it would/should leave the same day.
I was just thinking that maybe the courier came and picked it up yesterday for express post and maybe they'll drop your one at post office today.
I also sent a couple of emails pre/post purchase - so maybe they kept an eye out for my order…. just a guess. :)

Courier has confirmed delivery and should be downstairs at front desk waiting for me.

            • +2

@Chidori: Jealous! I looked at the purchase history on eBay and mine was among the first ones to be ordered yesterday (if the time stamps are accurate). Still nothing though.

              • +1

@hawkers89: Likewise, dropped them an email to confirm stock and none of this BS of waiting 5 months for next batch.
