ASUS Radeon RX 580 ROG Strix TOP Edition 8GB Video Card $299 C&C (or + $11.99 for Delivery) @ DeviceDeal

220

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/411503 this deal is back in town.

And MSI MkII is $296 from Computer Alliance eBay (not as cheap as the Mwave deal), not sure if this one is better though.

  • Damn, I literally paid $329 (+ delivery) for this about 6 hours ago…

    Good find OP.

    • Would it be too late to cancel the order?

      • Its been posted so yeah I think so. I could return it right away, but its a lot of hassle for $30.

Dam I have already got one, do I purchase another to go crossfire?

    • +12

NO!!! Crossfire is hardly supported and generally not worth the cost. You'd be better off selling your RX580 and buying a 1070ti. Not only would it be cheaper but it would actually get better frames. The power it takes to run 2 RX580s is nuts. Hardware unboxed just did an update on the state of crossfire using RX590s earlier today or yesterday - anyways it comes with a big thumbs down. My gaming rig is all AMD too - I got no bones with AMD - just with Crossfire! :D

Or you could get a Vega 56 if you were desperate for more fps on your freesync monitor.

    • Crossfire and sli are dead and a waste of money right now.

  • The way AMD pricing has moved since the latest rumours is starting to put my skeptical self into wishful thinking mode.

AFAIK this is the best RX 580 out there, even better than the Nitro+ Special edition (not by much but still)

I would have to agree with you. They have one of the biggest heat sinks + 3 fans, a nice looking card with lighting and cool back plate.

Only cons I can see with this card is that it uses up 2.5 PCI slots rather than 2.

      • hmm good to know, I don't think I have this extra space, i thought it would be the same size as my rx 470 strix 4gb and was almost getting it.

Here is a link to the MSI RX580 8GB Armour MKII that OP was talking about. The price is now $312.55 with code P5OFF + $15 delivery. It was appearing as $296 but not anymore. I think whatever coupon code you needed for that price expired at midnight.

Here is a quick comparison between the 2:

ASUS Strix TOP MSI Armour MKII
    Price (inc. delivery) $310.99 $327.55
Base Clock 1411 MHz 1340 MHz
Max Preset Overclock 1431 MHz 1380 MHz
    RGB
    Size 298 x 134 x 525 mm 270 x 130 x 40 mm
    Slots 2.5 2
    Weight 907 g 892 g

TL:DR ASUS ROG Strix TOP is better and cheaper, but it is a fair bit bigger, so check your case before buying.

All other things (power consumption, memory speed etc.) were the same from what I could find. Note that the clock difference will mean that the Strix will perform only about 4% better in terms of game FPS, meaning if the Strix can get 60 FPS in a game, the Armour should get 58 FPS, not a noticeable difference. Consider cost and how it will fit/look in your battlestation before this. Apologies if any info is incorrect.

    • Is that a typo or is there actually a difference of 482mm between the cards?

      • Sorry, definitely a typo. Should be 298 x 134 x 52.5 mm. The ASUS site had '29.8 x 13.4 x5.25 Centimeter' and when I was changing it to millimetres I missed the decimal point.

Thanks just ordered one. Comes with a choice of 2 out of 3 new games not yet released.

I wonder how much they have left in stock as these cards are no longer being made.

  • add 3 free games to the list. Devil may cry 5, The division 2 and idk what the third game is. Good value.

    • +1

It only comes with 2. You need to purchase an RX 590 if you want all 3.

  • The RX 590 Strix is only about 15% better performance for $180 more so this is a better deal for sure.

  • +3

    Getting $16 shipping, not $12.
