Sorry the ignorance but are you able to let me know how it works with the Alexa Dot? I have a JBL Boombox and Flip 4 that I use JBL Connect + with and pair one to my phone. How do you link alexa in and what can she play? I'm intrigued! Think I'll pick up another flip4 for more surround sound.
The Echo Dot connects to the Flip 4 via Bluetooth. You can do this via the Alexa app on iOS or Android. So I can ask Alexa to play any radio station or songs I request. All the audio comes through the Flip and the sound quality is very good.
Do you know what medium Alexa uses for the radio stations and songs? Is that via an Amazon subscription service? Or local songs on a hard drive somewhere? Sorry, just confused as to how she accesses what you are asking for. I like it though!
It uses Tune-in radio which is always free, and Amazon music for specific song requests, up to 40 hours a month for free I believe. But right now Amazon Music Unlimited is 99 cents for 3 months, so I am using that. Then it will be $11.99/month. I will likely cancel by then. You can link Spotify, so I reckon I will jump on a free Spotify trial next and give that a whirl.
@Ge3ks: Awesome thanks a heap Ge3ks, I'll give that a go that would be handy when I'm outside. I usually am limited by streaming radio from bluetooth pc to my JBL so can't take them far away from the house, I'll just get a wifi extender for the dot. Awesome, thanks!

Heads up for anyone in Brisbane, I went to the Brisbane CBD Officeworks who wouldn't price match because it's a flash sale (or at least that is what they told me). Walked 5 minutes up to JB Hifi who were happy to price match. They also had way more stock.
