You'd be nuts to pay the same price for a Hisense OLED when these deals keep coming up for LG/Panasonic.

    • +1

      Yeah, very true.

I paid $3860ish for my C8 65" months ago and I'm not upset at all by the price drop. The TV is just damn amazing!

      • I'm semi upset I didn't wait for the 65" to hit this price :(

        • I have the same feeling, paid around 4k for mine. Not sure why i thought 4k for a new 4k was ideal hah

  • Has anyone ever had any success getting the store to match this price and allow interest free?

    • I walked into Goodguys Marsden park yesterday and locked in a deal for the Sony A8F 65" OLED TV for $4200 with 12 months interest free. JB Hi-Fi didn't even budge from the listed price of $4995

    • Highly doubt they would, since this is an ebay promotion! But like anything else, unless someone asks the question, we will never know the answer.

I was videopro over the weekend buying something, advised the salesperson that I was gonna go to HN to use the AMEX offers to buy something else and he said he cant price match it! Manager came over and asked me why I am not buying with them, once I explained it, he was happy to do the same price I would have paid HN with the AMEX offers!

      • I rang up. They said no but some people have had luck getting staff to match pricing then approve interest free so its largely up to the franchisee's discretion.

For anyone that is in the market for the 65 inch LG OLED… Don't sleep on this deal! A quick look at the stores in Melbourne shows almost all are out of stock so the discount may be short-lived.

  • this or the A8F 65"?

    • This one has better reviews because of Low input lag for Gaming & the OS . AF8 was and will be $3000 delivered. So, you are looking at $300 for that extra Gaming support.

      https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/compare/lg-c8-vs-sony-a8f/60…

      • this one can be had for cheaper if you use a ebay gift cards right? the $3000 delivered for the a8f, do you mean the EB games deal or is there another one?

        • Yes. The EBGames one. But, I'm more than sure that It will hit $3000 by end of this year.

And yes, Ebay gift cards are limited to 10 per transaction. So, you can reduces $50 more.

  • +1

    Bought one, thanks OP

  • Are these RGBor RGBW?

    • LG OLEDs aren’t unlike most of their other lower end 4k TVs

    • +1

All current OLED TV have RGBW pixel structure, as they all use LG panel.
The only RGB OLED TV is old Samsung OLED TV which released long time ago…

  • I'd love to get one of these but burn in remains an issue for me, especially as I watch a lot of sport with the awful fox logos.

    • I streamed a lot of A-League matches back to back broadcasted via Fox Sports over the weekend on my C7, no burn it at all.

      • Small sample size, takes longer than that

        • Irrespective, after 6-8hrs there is a possibility for some image retention, but there was none. TV settings also play a part in retention and possible burn in.

          • @unwittinglyrad: True but I'm talking more about long term burn in, not short term retention. From everything I've read burn in remains an issue if your viewing isn't varied.. Mine in 90 percent sport so I'd have issues

  • Looking at the 55”. Have the voucher for the Sony from EB. Which would you pick?

    • -1

Personally, I would go the Sony simply because I prefer the design, but WebOS is awesome - you can use the remote like a Wii controller, and it's just generally fast, slick and fun to use.

But still, I'd go the Sony. Let me know if you go for the LG, I'd love the EB code :D [email protected]

  • $3196 is what I paid for my 65” C7, very good price for this model.

  • Starting to really hit my $3k budget on these oleds. Can anyone shed some light on best for sport/gaming? Mostly sport.

My ps4 will more than likely live on a desk in front of a monitor but moved to the lounge for TV and/or projector use also.

Not averse to other brands even but seems Sony and LG are leading the charge.

    • +2

LG is supposedly better for gaming due to lower input lag, and sport is better with Sony’s motionflow compared to LG

    • +1

I have the C8 and gaming is ridiculously gorgeous (shows about food with ridiculous production values also go gangbusters). Can't speak to sport though, sorry.

      • Should have bit the bullet. Hopefully not the end of the fine line for these models. Quite happy to settle for previous models if it means getting a top of the line TV!

I'm still a good month out of moving into our house reno so I've been playing TV roulette with the way these prices are dropping!

        • I suspect there will be a few available in boxing day sales, maybe Harvey Norman or Bing Lee, so get the credit card ready.

The only gamble is whether the 2019 models will start at a lower price point to have you regret you purchase, but imho, I think it's far more likely that they will start $2500 more than these C8 prices

          • @isthisreallife22: TVs are one of those things you can't keep up with, so the regret but won't phase me.

I do tend to agree with you on the new models too, I can't see them being anywhere near these prices given typically they're around the $3800+ mark. A few months down the track may be a different story.

I've basically told myself if I'm not in my house, then I don't need the TV, so a bit of a hurry up motivator I suppose. Haha

I'm thinking the other players will be around for boxing day. It's just that fine line now and whether or not they sell out the end of the line and how close you're willing to gamble with it.

            • +1

@db87: I felt I needed a new TV around March but figured it would be far more sensible to buy the end of this line as prices in March will largely be much higher.

Price protection insurance on my credit card is treating me well also

  • +4

A little more than I was initially planning to spend on a 'replacement' TV (as a wayward desk drawer cracked my 64" plasma during my move), but I never expected a proper upgrade to a 65" OLED to be at a price I was willing to pay! I've now ordered one.

Merry Christmas to me! Thanks OP :)

  • I'm tempted but think I will wait til after xmas when I hope the C8 55" to drop to $1800 or $1900. Still on fence if to pay the extra $400 ish on the E8 for the better sound.

    • Spend $400 on a soundbar? Better again?

    • Just as an FYI, from what I've heard the C8 is being replaced by the B8 which has a lower quality image processor in it (roughly equivalent to last year's model). So if you're thinking of grabbing a C8 my advice would be do it soon before stock runs out. I'd also say you'd be better off getting the C8 and an external soundbar - the one built-in to the E8 is better than regular TV speakers, but is basically just a cheap soundbar.

      • C8 is being replaced by the B8 which has a lower quality image processor in it

Do you have any evidence of this?

I believe that the panels & image processing are exactly the same however the "B" suffix lacked Dolby Atmos/Vision Passthrough.

Edit: You are correct, it has a different processor but going by reviews, there are hardly any significant differences

how to tell wife..how to tell…?!?!?!?!

    • +1

once in a lifetime price error. had to buy

  • waited too long to decide, pretty much out of stock everywhere

  • Is the 65" gone?

    • Looks like stocks at the moment are getting low. kk93 managed to get their local store to price match the deal though.

  • RIP. Hopefully Bing Lee respond to the 20% off deal.

  • Boxing day is just around the corner. This price is not good as 2 months ago. I'd rather consider the Pana one which is $200 cheaper

    • Where was it cheaper two months ago?

      • Dunno about 2 months ago but i got on the DJs deal using 10% of gift cards so ended up being $3150. Should've been under $3k if my shopback would show up 😭

Should've stuck with CR, used SB for the first time just to get 0.5% extra which ended up being nada instead so far

  • Some news for people who may want to hold it up.

Sony will release Spring 2019 TV range on 07/01/2019

New range will be HDMI 2.1/HDCP 2.3

    OLED A7G, LED X9G, X8G, X7G, X6G(low end)

New Chip X1 Plus for OLED A7G

IMAX Enhanced and Dolby Vision for all range except X6G

Full range except X6G get special Game boost mode, OLED A7G gets Extremely low input lag, others get high pic enhancer or anti aliasing etc.

I believe it will be a huge boost and jump compare to current gen.

C8 is a great TV, and personally I believe is the best at current stage. If I need a TV now, I will buy this.

I do not have information of LG, I only have information about Sony which is likely to be true.

For serious gamers or people with picky eyes, I suggest hold another half year.

    • +1

New range will be HDMI 2.1/HDCP 2.3

That is a bit of a Grey area.
HDMI guidelines are little relaxed when it comes to definitions.. such as what specs are required to substantiate the versions.

IMO, when manufacturers that start to claim HDMI 2.1 may talk a little dribble if it is real…. exaggerate
It may have some features such as EARC etc however the catch will be if the chipset/processor fully supports 48GB/s bandwidth.
… and i'm sure that when they release that, the specs will be clear as mud …. like their previous models' earlier lack of clarity of 4:4:4 chroma sub-sampling 4K@60p

i reckon that "true" HDMI 2.1 will start getting released ~ Oct 2019 so watch out for "Psuedo" models to avoid disappointment.

It seems like the discount trend starts now till Boxing Day.

      Cheers
