  • $500 card fee? Hell no

    • thats enough points for one way to London in business class, so $449 + tax for business class - bargain, maybe just not for you

      • +5

Used to be fee free for first year. In comparison with $500 it isnt a good deal

      • That 120,000 points is earned IF $6,000 is spent within 90 Days.

    • It's quite a decent card though. I got it free with my mortgage.

But no way I'd pay the annual fee otherwise (and I only got 80,000 QFFs, would have easily qualified for the 120K points).

  • +7

Can you remove the $ when you’re talking about qff points?

    …if you want $80k for $250…

    and

…$450 for $120k is worth it to me…

  • Not much of a deal if you have to pay annual fees.

  • Haven't received the qff from previous deals….

    • Call the number on the back to confirm. They sweep point every month.

      • not the points from purchase but the bonus one 120k (black amex + visa combo)

        • Amex are quick but Westpac took ages. Met the spend by the 2nd statement but had to wait until the 4th statement

          • @profane01: I got both of mines immediately when the statement came out for the month I hit the 3k spend, must've been super lucky.

          • @profane01: agree i think i got the AMEX first. gee i met the spend by the first 3 weeks after card arrives…..

    • +1

I'm still waiting for mine too, Spent the amount by the first statement The Amex ones arrived straight away but the Westpac ones are yet to arrive. I called and they quoted the t&cs at me which is we'll pay them within 90 days which is irritating as I have a flight I want to book.

What's the deal here? Isn't this the normal price?

Considering ANZ Qantas Black's current offer 120k for $275 and only 1 credit check, I'd even say 120k for 2 credit checks AND pay $549 isn't a deal at all!!

I got this Altitude Black whole bundle in Nov, 120K and 0 annual fee what so ever.

    • I understand the deal here is the bonus 120,000 QF points.

      • It's alaways been 120k, comes with the package.

        • I'm not sure the 120,000 offer is a 'standard' one. Common yes, but not a given. The terms change and often so.

          • @Lunarboogie: I agree with you.
However, without 120k, this bundle would be just utter garbage. Apology for the language.

  • No deal. Everyday price.

  • +1

Standard Price, this often comes up with no annual fee for the first year.

  • Westpac has been doing this for quite a while if I recall correctly.

$500 in annual fees alone for a card is insane. ANZ black is fat better in this regard if you’re after bulk points.
And what’s this “Qantas rewards fee” rubbish?

  • I just finished the spend on the last deal here which gave you the same thing for free

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/401343

Not so sure i would be keen to stump up $500 for the same thing!

Got my points in the end of the month too…super quick.

    • "Not so sure i would be keen to stump up $500 for the same thing!"
even if you are super keen they wont allow you, need 12 months before reapplying.

  • May I ask how many Qantas points you need to upgrade from economy class to business (let's say sydney to japan return flights)?

    • google qff points calculator you can see it yourself

    • +1

      Google will answer that

      • looks like 60k, thanks

        • on behalf of ozb family, thanks for sharing this information.

  • StGeorge deal still running?

  • I'm pretty sure I just got 120k points for a much lower fee

  • Is Qudos bank safe to put money on? They have Qantas saver account that you can earn 1.5% variable interest rate + 400 qff for every 1k dollar saving balance

    • Interesting.
They appear to be Govt guarranteed:
      https://www.qudosbank.com.au/AboutUs/CorporateInformation/Fi…

But the points on savings equates to about 0.5% & they currently give 1.5% on savings, so you would be better off if you can find an account with a different bank with over 2% interest on your savings.

      • My Westpac is offering me online-saver account with an introductory rate of 2.15% for the first 5 months, then it drops to 1.5\%.

Qudos offers 1.5% (which is not so good) as well as 400 Qantas point for every 1000 dollar account balance per year. I need 120k Qantas point for upgrading return flight between Sydney and Hongkong (or Shanghai).

There is a rumor that you can actually buy Qantas points from others. Is this a safe way to earn point?

they still owe me the 60k bonus points from the last round, and after many months of chasing up, someone finally suggested that i did not make the $3000 spend because of a water bill which allegedly is not a valid spend, even though i did not do it via BPAY but via the water company's online payment using the altitude black credit card. their resolutions team is extremely hard to track down and they never ever get back to you on time. i may have to lodge a complaint with the ombudsman on this one. stay away from wp…

  • Who would pay $449 on Annual Fees

  • Its not $120k worth of points either

  • Well this was up a while back with no annual fee, but it still is a good way to earn points if you have ran out of options.

I applied for NAB, got rejected and applied for this one and approved for both cards (Amex+WP)
