OzBargain is censoring comments. What do you think?

During Xmas, public notices for free xmas meals for homeless were posted which is good charity. Most homeless are men though more women joined in the fray now. So I posted this message based on facts to bring AWARENESS:

42 men committed suicide weekly in Australia. 8 out of 10 who suicided are men. About half of these men are fathers alienated from their children due to mother's perjury supported by Family Court. If you are a man you are a dog according to feminists, the Green and Labor party.

It was immediately censored by Ozbargain.

Is this apathy and amoral?

It wasn't censored at all. Other members downvoted the comment so it's hidden from view:

You're able to see the comment if you have an OzBargain account and are logged into the site.

Even if they were, they're entitled to do so on their own private platform. Free speech doesn't apply here.

Actually, as Savas has mentioned below, the mods have marked the comment as 'off topic' but it's also now showing 'Comment score below threshold' due to the number of negative votes, so double whammy.

Also posted the same off-topic post hereand here and finally here

  • You probably broke a rule or something. idk.
Ask the mod that unpublished it.

EDIT: TA has the correct answer, its just hidden. If any comments are deleted it because they go against the forum rules.

What facts do you have to support the following claims:

"About half of these men are fathers alienated from their children due to mother's perjury supported by Family Court"

"If you are a man you are a dog according to feminists, the Green and Labor party."

It sounds like you are mixing fact with your own personal opinion or experiences.

Honestly politics in this country is a total snooze - I would rather chat about bargains.

No, OzBargain has some history with posting charitable freebies. Ultimately there was some worries we were abusing the freebies and they weren't going to the people who actually needed it.

It was discussed publicly on the forums and a rules was made around charitable freebies so OzBargain wouldn't abuse charities. Obviously it's a but more complicated than that but I don't want to regurgitate everything that was said before, you can look up the past posts if you want the details.

EDIT: NVM your post just got downvoted by members and soft hidden, that's the whole point of the system.

No it was hidden by mods who marked as off topic. If it was hidden from view because of downvotes it would say "'Comment score below threshold'".

      • Ah OK I just read tightarse's comment and went off that

      • Good spot Savas, thanks. Although it's now showing 'Comment score below threshold' due to the number of negative votes.

        Good call MODS and downvoters

You said "If you are a man you are a dog according to feminists, the Green and Labor party", which is blatantly untrue.

If you're going to share lies, expect your comments to be down-voted into nonexistence.

So what did your comment have to do with this?

The issue of suicide in Australia is a real problem for both men and women, and your little rant isn't providing anything positive to the debate. The people who really know what is going on are investigating the issues of toxic masculinity, unrealistic expectations, homophobia, risk taking behaviour, substance abuse etc. Then throw in a bullying on social media sites and a Government that likes to alienate the "other". There are some good organisations that are trying to address this issue; maybe you need to look into a few of them and see if you can volunteer to help.

In relation to politics, the rest of us are having fun watching the Liberal party imploding on itself.

The people who really know what is going on are

I mean, you think they know what is going on because you agree with them. But your little rant has just as much to support it (i.e. nothing) as OP's own little rant.

Sigh, haters gonna hate… Of course those comments should have been censored, would be disappointed if they weren't.

  • Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
I've made sure to go and downvote your statement each time you made it.

  • THIS IS A BARGAINS WEBSITE

    • and for good deals on lower case letters from a-z… lol

  • There's no (profanity) censorship round here (profanity). (profanity) who knows (profanity) how (profanity) monkey's fist (profanity) sweet n sour (profanity) (profanity) air conditioner.

Thanks. Your every comment is worth the downvotes.

  • Thanks OP I've also downvoted your comments. Keep up the good work!
