    Good price

These are so good for camping - cover tent floors and put around entrances to tents. For camping, the tiles with holes are best as the sand/dirt just falls in the holes making it WAY easier to keep clean.

    • Yes, great for camping. I use them at our tent's door to stop us trailing dirt into the tent - just sweep them a couple of times a day

      • Try some heavy duty shade cloth doubled over (outside the entrance). Dirt and sand falls through as you wipe your feet. No need to clean until the end of the trip unless things get muddy

Are these EVA foam? Anyone used them for cosplay / similar?

    • +1

      Off the link: EVA Foam

      • Thanks- I opened that tab, but don't know how I missed the material!

    • +3

I used some of these mats to help my son make 'body armour' for his costume for book week. Worked out well.

      • Us too….made the Witch King's helm out of this stuff for book week. Scariest looking books week costume there.

Yep. Had fancy dress party. Went as Polytuf 50 x 50cm Foam Mats - 4pk from Bunnings. Awarded best dressed. 1st prize was coupon for onions on top.

Bought a heap of black ones during the last deal. Great for getting under the car, home gym, and rough-and-tumble with a naughty 3yo boy.

When making a bigger mat you'll end up with extra edging and maybe not enough corner edging. The extra edging I cut into smaller blocks and turned it into DnD terrain/stone walls, and cushions to put under appliances and furniture legs.

    • +1

Quite keen to see what you have done to make up the stone walls. Any pics?

    • Are they easy to cut? What did you use to cut them?

      • +6

        They are easy to cut.

I used the shards of my broken dreams.

  • is this safe for babies?

    • +46

They don't list any nutritional value on the labelling.

    • +34

Depends how high a height you are dropping them from.

    • +46

This is safe for making babies.

    • +12

Not for babies with 51cm x 51cm mouths.

    • No! choking hazard. It says over 3 on the pack.

    • +2

Whilst very funny replies to your question, the real answer is no.

Stick with mats specifically listed as child friendly. I bought a stack of these (awesome price!), but they definitely aren't baby friendly.
Very strong odour and I wouldn't be letting bub play on them or touch them (which every parent knows then means ingesting because their hands live in their mouths!).

Even when buying those number mats online be very wary unless they specifically state "non-toxic", ie. free of formamide, phthalate or BPA.

      Nasty stuff for kids.

I’ve always wondered if these could be used as underlay when installing floorboards. At this price it would make economic sense.

    • Might be way to thick for underlay. At 12mm it's the same thickness as floating floors or thicker if you use a 10mm board

  • Can I drop my gym weights on these or are they too thin to protect the floor?

    • +9

I found them extremely slippery, both the underside that just sides over my laminate flooring, and after I glued them down the top surface was slippery as well. Unsuitable for home gym imho.

      • +1

Thanks thats really useful to know

      • They do have larger rubber mats that would work made from shredded rubber like a kid's playground. I think they were $30 ea for a 1m x 1m tile

    • +4

why not just put them down?

    • +1

      https://www.catalystathletics.com/article/1895/How-to-Build-…

Pretty good source on how to make a weightlifting platform. Scale the job down to your needs whether you need a full deadlift/olympic bumper plates set up, or somethign to drop your dumbells on.

  • Would this be suitable for soundproofing computer case?

    • Probably not very good, they are not that dense.

  • +3

I got these from ALDI before and use them as (custom cut) boot/cargo liner. Take them out when I don't need them :)

  • +2

These EVA foam mats are good for insulation. I cut these to size to fit inside heat saver vent covers. The vent covers cover the air conditioning vents in my house in winter.

    Cheers OP :)

Cheers just got some in balcatta in Perth. Tickets up for $12 scanned it at $4.48 ea.

For garages? so cars can go on it?

  • Anyone know :Would these be okay on carpets? Would they stain a light carpet ?

  • +5

My upstairs neighbours could use some of these.

  • +12

    Aldi version is 6x 60x60cm @ $9.99 = $4.63/sqm

Bunnings is 4x 50x50cm @ $4.48 = $4.48/sqm. Keep in mind they have been as cheap as $4.16 before

  • Would these be strong enough to hold a power cage in a room with wooden floors?

    • Power cage ?

      • +2

        I think it's a UFC/Wrestling Title belt event.

        • +1

Sure it's not a Nicolas Cage on steroids?

  • Anyone tried gluing them together vertically to make a thicker 24mm mat?
Wondering if it's dense enough so that you don't sink down too far. Primarily looking at a footing perspective for throws etc.

  • Cool been looking for some cushioning underlay for our living room rug, at least where people put their feet.
    Will check these out.

  • +3

Few good ideas guys. Keep those ideas coming, still deciding if I need any lol

  • +2

I use these along the sides of my garage as a storage surface but as team teri's comment noted above, they can be quite slippery and aren't safe for, say, a gym or kids' play area. If you run on them and plant your foot, a whole section of the mats can give out and next thing it'll be your head planted on the floor. The top side is a bit slippery as well so making them grip the floor with adhesive would only half address the problem.

There are heavyweight mats in the same section of Bunnings that are much more suitable for gym use and the like.

  • Hey everyone,

Has anyone used these as a base below a camping mattress / camping pad?

    How was the sleep quality?

  • +1

Are these any good for use outdoors; will they absorb water or resist it? Wondering whether they'd be any use in my carport…

    • I used ithe one with holes under veranda… all good with water

These do break down after a few years, even if stored in a dark shed. Mine are breaking down and I guess I had them for 5 years. The ones that see sun broke down first. They leave marks on clothes /cars/ anything they touch now. I use them as padding between stuff in the back of my car with work. Good timing (as mine are breaking down) so I will get some new ones thanks.

  • I used these as underlay for an above ground 'demountable' pool.
Levelled off the ground, used a spade and rake to smooth out the ground and remove all stones/sharp edges, and then placed these down with a tarp on top. Pool liner appreciates it, and it's actually quite nice under foot in the pool. Get the solid ones, not the ones with holes.

Two years later and still in place and doing their thing. Definitely cover with a tarp and it'll protect the edges from UV exposure.

I've actually been pretty chuffed with the entire setup actually- Bestway above ground pool, cheap cartridge filter etc. Allows me to delay the inevitable in-ground pool purchase for a few years. I've had pools my whole life and had much more expensive setups in previous houses. Doing it cheap and 'nasty' two years ago and I haven't regretted it once. Sorry for the blub, but seriously… any dad considering a pool just do it! I grew up with one and I know my kids will too, and love it!

  • I recommend buying off ezymats.com.au, thicknesses from 20-40mm interlocking 1m x 1m

Had to brush cut over 1 meter high grass for 5 hours today and could not find any snake gaiters anywhere saw these on the shelf wrapped 2 around each leg up to the knee and some cloth tape wrapped around and problem solved.

    • See any snakes?

      • +1

No i probably made enough noise to keep them away but they say 85% of snake bites are below the knee so better safe than sorry.

  • +2

These are a good cut out layer for tool tray storage. So basically you cut out the shape of the tool / socket and this goes over the thinner 2-3mm tray liner.
Holds all the bits and pieces in place that otherwise roll around.
