  • In store only. That means no click and collect which means it'll probably be all sold out by the time I get to Big W :(

      It's BigW,

C&C = Click and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and Cancel

BTW these are great for tinned beetroot, pineapple, etc.

    Good find OP.

  • What would one use this for?

    • +9

Storing tinned beetroot, pineapple, even several cans of tuna in brine. You can store it in the liquid, then pull the guts out and strain it before serving, then plonk it back in.

I buy tinned Two Fruits and Crushed Pineapple and store it in these. Great for brekkie with some yoghurt. You get the strain out the liquid before serving.

      • Thanks. That’s a great explanation. 🤙

Well for us Europeans it only means one thing….Olives!!!

Don't be fooled by the blue blue seal on these. They are not airtight so will leak liquids if they are not keep upright.

    • Sadly this is true. I know from sad experience. However, they are still a good storage container, just not spill proof.

  • +1

I use this to take strained stuff to work (e.g. cooked pasta) but I definitely wouldn't use it to transport stuff still in liquid, as above this range is not airtight.

  • Perfect for massive jars of jalapenos! No stock near me though

    • +1

Why not just keep them in the jar

      • To life them up out of the juice, rather than fishing them out with a spoon. I get huge 2kg jars

  • There are a couple (about 5) at Pagewood - Eastgardens NSW. They were hidden behind a sign with no price tag. Lady told me Sistema is half price however item scanned at $1.

  • perfect for keeping my sourdough starter

    • Why do you need a strainer for your starter?

      • I removed the strainer and kept the container

  • Got 3. Will find a use for them later.

NOT water tight. I put a latex severed hand in it with fake blood for Halloween. Looked fabulous till it leaked when laying sideways in my car and got fake blood stains on my back seat. "Honestly officer, that's where the blood stains came from…."

  • +1

I want to like Sistema, I really do, but they are not watertight so I don't buy them. Instead, I buy cheap brands that actually work.

    Absolutely ideal for making kefir.

    • Agreed. Was looking at Kefir containers for $40+ until I saw these. Just bought 3.
