    Hello Moto

  • +1

I bought the G6 plus at 380 a few months ago and I rate it for the price. this is a good deal in my opinion.

    • +2

I used to love my moto G4, only went Nokia because of Pie, else would have gone Moto again.

  • All are dual sim, pls add it your post..

    • Thanks.

    • I am hoping ppl using cashback to make slight cheaper further

  • good deal!

  • +1

The Ozbargainer's favorite question.. does it have Band28?

    • -1

      And headphone 🎧 Jack ?

      • +1

        And NFC?

        • -5

No, NFC is not a necessity, it's a very optional feature and everyone can definitely live without it

    • +1

This is the AU model, so yes to Band 28.

    • -1

of course it does, it isn't Xiaomi but Lenove / Moto, a company that designs for a global market.

  • +1

Awesome, cheers OP, its $450 at Officeowrks, Ive had the Moto g2 and g4, they were v decent phones for the price! Just bought the 6 plus, greeeeaat DEAL!!

  • +2

I really want something to go wrong with my G5+ but can't justify the upgrade yet. Great phone range.
Old man got the G6 after being Samsung for ages and loves the simplicity.

    • +1

Agree. Improvements to the G5+, would like Pie and larger screen, but happy to still use as 5.2" screen size ( feels larger if you activate the One Button Nav ( using the fingerprint area as home button, swipe left to go back and swipe right to go to recent apps ). Also this balance of screen and battery size gives a solid battery performance.

Although I have already upgraded to a Nokia 6.1 to see what Android One ( and hence Pie ) is like, I am currently still happily using the G5+ as my daily driver and Donn't want anything to go wrong with it at all lol. Can sell it later on or gift it as still going strong.

      • I really like the nav button but it's too frustrating when my missus or others need to use my phone and the regular icons are not there.

        • +1

Me too, although I sometimes get mixed up with my Redmi Note 4 ( physical soft keys ), mostly other Android devices ( on screen nav keys ).

Also because of the fingerprint Nav Button, I am using a thin plastic screen protector instead of a tempered glass one because it makes the Nav Button better/easier to use, but then the screen touch feeling is not as nice/sensitive as glass.

Oh well, all first world problems lol.

      • My current dilemma is trying to choose between the Nokia 6.1 and the G6 Plus. Which do you prefer more and why? Looking for a phone for simplicity (user isn't tech savvy in the slightest) and something that can be used for 3 years + without slowing down too much. Person only uses phone for calls, SMS, whatsapp, web surfing and light gaming (e.g. sudoku, solitaire).

  • Looks like great deal on the 6+

Hows the battery? That's the only thing my Note 4 is failing at (even after a genuine replacement)

    • +1

Great battery. I'm on my phone a fair bit after work, have data on all day and stream Spotify on a Bluetooth speaker at work and if I didn't have screen brightness all the way up all the time I think I could get away with charging it every second day. Even if my phone is on 50% I no longer bother carrying a powerbank on a night out.

      • Oh man I'd kill for that, but just realised this has no IR blaster though..
My Note 4 (and in the past my G Flex 2) controls my TV and both reverce cycle air cons I really don't want an extra 3 remotes kicking around. I'll have to pass :(

Whats with this being removed form all phones nowadays?? It takes up barely any spcae on the board and is so damn useful.

        • +1

as they remove notification leds and instead use the screen for notification, adding an led just for an IR blaster would add cost and complexity with very little market gain.

You would still have a remote for your appliances, else how would your kids or spouse operate if you weren't home with your IR blaster phone ?

IR blaster phones used to be the rage so you could change channels on the TVs at pubs, now they get cable feeds.

          • +1

@garage sale: They are either in a drawer or scattered around the house thanks to my daughter, the air con one's have broken screens (also thanks to my daughter)
So I like to be able to just pull my phone out of my pocket and turn off the tv/air con as I'm walking out the door/mute it when I get a phone call etc. rather than hunt for a remote.

My Mrs is always envious that her apparent superior iPhone can't do the same.

        • +1

Agree. IR blaster useful in hospitals, hotels, etc where remotes are painful. Once you've had a phone with IR blaster you'd never go back. Same (even more so) for NFC.

        • Huawei/Honor phones and Xiaomi phones stil have them

    • Could try extending the run time a little further by using Naptime.

    Doesn't add up….

  • Never mind about my old comment, my sources seem to be wrong

  • +1

Edit2: Band 28 AND Headphone jack… what more could a phone need!

Don't forget, it also has NFC

NOTE: No NFC on the Moto G6 Play

  • Moto G6 plus great phone. Only issue I've had is this happening a few times but I just spam the keys on keyboard with vibrate on tap turned on and it's fine again.

Happy to answer any questions regarding this phone if anyone has any.

    • Prospect of upgrade to android 9?

      • +2

it's why I went Nokia, it's already upgraded from Oreo to Pie and has Dec security updates, for both the 7 Plus and the 6.1.

        • Yep, me too as reason to upgrade to Nokia 6.1. The Moto is still on October Security update ( and most likely stuck on Oreo too ), but should get a couple more security updates as was released April 2017 and hopefully Moto will honour their 2 year update cycle.

Still prefer the feel of the Moto so far, maybe I'm a bit nostalgic. The slightly curved rounded corners just seem to feel right for me.

      • +1

Motorolla has promised they will get Pie. Various sources on the web seem to indicate it will be early in the new year. https://www.androidauthority.com/motorola-one-android-9-pie-…

    • Do you have the dual sim version? Can we put in 2 sim cards AND sd card at the same time? And what about wireless charging?

      • Yes I have the g6+ 2 sim cards and SD Cards at same time. Not sure about wireless.

  • +2

I am using this (G6 Plus) and its really good. Has 64 GB, NFC, Dual sim, Expandable, B28 and Headphone Jack as well. only concern is that its Android 8.0 whereas my G5+ got 8.1 upgrade. Pie is expected early next year.

  • +2

G6 Plus looks a compelling buy, how quick are OW usually to beat Amazon?

  • Is this AU stock?

  • +1

4 days ago purchased MOTO G6 for $349 4 days ago
    Amazon wont refund the difference
They are however happy for me to return my original (at my cost) and purchase another one (prime is only for delivery of item to me)

quite disappointed, considering its a present :(

    oh well…

    • +2

That's odd. Amazon are usually right up there on customer service. Maybe hit up live chat again. Never know, might get a more helpful CSR.

Anybody know what the camera is like? My HTC10 has an awesome camera, but phone is getting due for replacement. I need a good camera that is in the same league as my HTC.

    • Same situation! My htc 10 can probably go another 6 months though.

    • I went into the Good Guys and specifically tried the cameras out on these phones. I have the Moto G3, and for a phone that cost me ~$250, the camera is fantastic. It's obviously not as good as a high end phone, but great little snapper for everyday shots. My wife has the Moto C, and the camera on it really suffers from lag which is a deal breaker when most shots are of children. So I was interested to see how these compared. My impression was they were all pretty good (on par, perhaps better than my G3), but the G6 Play seemed to lag less than the G6.

    • What's wrong with your HTC 10?
Mind is 6 months old and great aside from constant heat issues.

    Like a G6!

  • +2

    G6 plus is showing $456

  • +2

    G6 plus price gone up

  • +2

G6 Plus out of stock from Amazon, higher price is from 3rd party seller. Keep checking, it will likely come back.

    • Damn, was about to pull the trigger on the G6 Plus :-(

      • +1

        This just got posted…

  • Can we get a mention on who the seller is on Amazon. Whether it's amazon or a private seller.

When it's Amazon and its out of stock, it reverts to the next avaliable seller.

  • +3

If you want a Moto G6 plus or G6 and you don't need it this year, if you wait for a The Good Guys 20% off ebay sale can get them for $320 and $240.

    Just another option.

    • +1

hi , $240? where is it mentioned? thanks

      • Oops, mixed up the models. It was the G6 play for $240 and the G6 was $320 @ The Good Guys ebay sale when 20% off, 5%-10% less using gift vouchers.

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/413355

So yeah, looks like the lowest so far for the G6+ & G6 for local stock, great deal, especially if you got a G6+.

  • +4

Great prices! My G5plus still going well. Have to wait til it dies the get the next G10 plus.

  • +3

Thanks OP. Used this to get the G6 price matched at OW, so got it today for Xmas present for mum

  • +4

  • +2

I really need a new phone and one at this price point. Genuinely upset, fingers crossed for Boxing Day I guess :'(

    • +3

    • +1
