  • I get the message: "Store pick up is not available for this product" for WA. Maybe you can call and order in? Cheers

    • same

  • When I add to cart, I’m charged $795 for the speakers and $325 for the receiver.

Patience is the key. Scroll further down to see balance payable..

I pointed it out on another deal Link

But without posting the deal, it remains buried in an AMEX post, doesn't get the views.

      Great deal. +Vote

The "WAS" price is not correct ($2396?!)….. Even the Yamaha website says rrp$999. This should be changed.

    • +1

ok.. modified :-) I took the reference from previous HN deal.

      • +2

Yeah, I assumed that was a NH concocted figure.

"Not like HN to over inflate their RRP"…. is something no one has said, ever.

        • Back up to $2396. Do you think they will just do this for a week and bring it back down to a sub $1000 price?

          • +1

@OldBugger: Helps slightly with the WAF.

            • @f4te: I haven't picked mine up yet. Have been slowly warming her up to how big and ugly they will look.
I'm a bit nervous to be honest. Having never had large speakers sit either side of the tv, it's gonna be a big change.

    • This one is this package https://au.yamaha.com/en/products/audio_visual/home_theatre_…
Has a better AVR(RX-V385 vs HTR-2071) with Dolby TrueHD, DTS Master Audio and YPAO auto set-up.

  • I'm confused, does this deal include the party light

    Thanks op

waiting for the ozdouchebags to come in and say these are crappy and only marginally better than tv speakers

    • And people who whinge XYZ store will not price match.

    • +1

Are you bitter because you have them and only found out they're crappy after you paid too much? For sure they're better than a soundbar but they are certainly low end.

      • +1

that sir is hyperbole! now go back to watching star trek on your klipsch forte 3's!

    • Well, it depends whether they are actually decent or not. Price and speaker quality are often not related at all.

For example, the old Jaycar speaker kits were some of the best mid-range MTM tower speakers you could get, and towards the end of their production run, you could pick them up for $350 a pair. I still have them in my home theatre, and they hold their own with the speakers in my living room that cost around five times their price.

      • +1

often people forget one of the main contributing factors to audio quality: the room you are in!

if you have thick walls with insulation, carpet and curtains, the sound will be warm and thick

wheras if your in a tiled/floor boarded environment with lots of windows, the sound will just distribute everywhere and sound nowhere near as good

hey lets go to jb hifi and see which speakers sound best in an open store with 20 other speaker systems going at the same time!!!

  • I came across this https://www.betta.com.au/yamaha-5-1ch-home-theatre-system-69… @ $716
Is it the same as this deal? Only differences is the picture of the sub and the disco light.

    • This one has the better AVR(RX-V385)

      • Is it better to then spend the extra $82 and go with this deal? Would be interesting to hear what the main differences are.

        • +1

I'm pretty sure the subs are identical. The website states it's the Livestage 5400 which on Yamaha's website, has the same speaker setup.
          https://au.yamaha.com/en/products/audio_visual/home_theatre_…

The RX-V385 offers YPAO and bluetooth if you need it. I recently bought the receiver by itself from Harvey, and bluetooth is convenient when I want to listen to music and don't want to turn on other devices. YPAO might offer you better performance, but it isn't the most sophisticated room correction software available (other brands have better e.g Audyssey in Denon) so it might be a hit or miss for you.

        • +1

The main differences are the RX-V385 supports Dolby TrueHD and DTS Master Audio from Blu-ray etc and the YPAO auto setup which sets the speaker size, level, distance as well adjusting EQ to suit the listening room with a calibration mic that is included with the AVR.

Bit of confusion created on this thread.

The $999 LiveSTAGE 5400 package is a different (lesser) setup. The subwoofer from HN is the SW100.

The current going retail of the HN/DOMAYNE package is most likely around $1100-1200. HN are probably quoting the original release prices which no one (but them) would have sold them for anyway.

This is a very good quality basic setup, if you look around enough you'll find good reviews on all the components listed.
I bought them from HN and after breaking it in I've been comparing them to a Denon and DALI 2CH HIFI setup, its not quite as nice a sound, but for the money its still very good.

Dont be put off by those saying its junk, i guarantee they've never heard the system. Basically its Yamaha (uncool) and cheap price (double uncool) so some will automatically call it low end and crappy. Welcome to the world of HIFI ;)
Yes, more money will get you more refined sound and more inbuilt gadgets/tricks, but If you're new to HIFI or coming from tv speakers/cheap soundbar then this Yamaha setup will sound like the philharmonic orchestra just moved into your living room.

Main things to consider though, the front speakers are massive, and pitch black. WAF is going to be low. I'm already looking at white vinyl wrap for the speakers as my wife hates them and apparently our media room now "looks like its been taken over by bogans".
Its 5.1 only, enough for me and my room setup, but surround sound has since gotten more complex with more speaker setups. If you're looking to expand at a later date, this system wont do it.

Its Bluetooth only, meaning no wifi streaming of audio, spotify etc. For spotify etc i use bluetooth anyway as it much more convenient for navigation.

At $795 its a great buy, at $645 its a steal. Pull that trigger.

    Hope this helps.

    • How difficult is it to vinyl wrap speakers? Do you get bubbles easily like with screen protectors?

      • Not sure, i've yet to try. Did a quick google search and there's some good instructions around.

    • Thanks, that helped me decide.. just ordered one.

    • I have an older version of this avr (5 years old) and I can stream - Spotify, google music etc through airplay via an iPhone.

Edit - it seems I have the rxv4.. version which has airplay

  • Unless others are more fortunate, it says this item is not available for pickup and looks like $49 for delivery…

    • +1

I rang my local who didn't have stock and they are ordering it in. I paid a deposit too and can pay the remainder when I collect. They were really helpful and also offered to layby if needed.

  • +1

Just logged in to say - I picked up one from Gosford NSW - I probably got the last one there. Just finished setting it up and must say I am pleasantly surprised and impressed.
I am no audiophile - but I have a fairly large open plan living area where I put my Samsung 75” nu7100 and have been contemplating which music system to put for the area. I wasn’t prepared to invest a few grand to go with Sonos or Bose or the likes.
The front speakers are huge but have fit my room very well. If you are not bothered by the size then you will probably like it.
The YPAO setup was also decent. I didn’t do any setup manually. It gave me a few errors which i quickly googled and decided to ignore 😀.
Overall a good unit, definitely heaps and bounds better than any sound bar and totally worth the price.

    • Thanks for your review, did it come with speaker wire or did you supply your own?

      • It did come with wires, the guys in store said the wires are basic and were trying to sell me new wires. But I have set up using the wires provided and it’s all good to my ears.

    • What's the chances of getting a picture of the speakers. Would love to see how big they are.

      • +1

They are roughly just under 1m in height and 15 cms wide and 15 cms deep.

  • Anyone knows if this is wired or not?

  • I just made a blunder. Rang Domayne in City West, WA and put through to hi-fi. Surprised when he said there were plenty in stock. Made the purchase over the phone. Only to realise later it came through as Harvey Norman on the receipt and on credit statement.

I had to ring and cancel. Didn't realise the store is split into Domayne (which do furniture) and HN (electronics).

So pick up, as far as I am aware, is not available in WA.
