Cool. Thanks for the post. Bought one.

        • Great.

  • New customers only?

    • Valid only for new Catch Connect customers

      • +2

Someone memtioned one can have five SIMs as new customer.

        • 5 sims on the same catch connect account or do I have to make a new account for each one?

Asking because I used the Nov one and it just ran out, could I buy another sim using the same details and account and have my number transferred to the new sim or do I need to create a new account to be considered a new customer

  • +1

so does that mean they actually pay you $5 to trial this out? Is it easy to cancel if you want to? is there an exit fee?

    • +1

It’s prepaid. No such thing as an exit fee for prepaid.

    • +2

Yes once u have activated The service u can cancel auto renew straight away. Easy and straight forward. Ps Auto renew is on by default.

  • For some reason, am not seeing price per OP post

  • What will be the charge from 2nd Month?

  • +7

Why kogan is silent? May b planning to bring 49 cents plan soon!

  • do you need to register your payment details when buying this? and will you be able to remove it later?

    • +4

You can cancel auto renewal when you activate the SIM in dashboard settings if that's what you're worried.

  • Got 1

  • Can someone kindly inform which network this is?

  • +1

Just wonder if I can re-port in again as a new customer as I ported out CC last month?

Similar to questions posted on another thread :)
Could Shopback rep clarify the following for me.
    1. as long as I use a new email for Catch Connect website for this purchase, am i counted as a new Catch Connect customer for this cashback service?
    2. can i use my existing Shopback account for this purchase even if i took part in an earlier shop back Catch Connect cashback sim purchase recently?

    Much Appreciated

    • +1

      Hi snorkey,

      1. You would appear so as a new customer by using a new email address, although it's up to Catch to make the final call when they start approving transactions later down the track.

      2. Yes.

      • What if I have used catch connect before but ported out like a year ago, can I still purchase the sim using the same account same email and still be considered as new customer?

        • +1

          Hi Alanw,

To be safe it's better to use a different email address.

Still waiting on Shopback from a similar deal from a few months ago, didn't think the cashback would be instant but its a bit annoying as I didn't realise it would take as long as this, can anyone share how long it usually takes?

    • Hi SmP46,

Are you referring to cashback that hasn't appeared on your account at all, or cashback that has appeared on your account but has a "Pending" status?

      • They've appeared, just been on "Pending" for quite a long time.

        • +1

Oh yes, this is normal for almost all stores. Often they wait until certain exchange/cancellation etc periods have lapsed and then verify transactions (some also do it at fixed periods in batches).

This is to prevent people from milking the system for cashback they shouldn't get in the end (makes no sense for a store to pay out commission/cashback on an order that's been cancelled).

Uber and Ola are example stores where cashback turns confirmed way faster than other stores (around a week).

  • good deal as the outlay isn't as high as the other Amaysim/Shopback deal currently.

    • Yes, $5 for 40G is something you actually would pay for.

  • +1

I got it lost deal, only to use as a data sim, have to admit data speeds here in Canberra were very ordinary.

I came from a Voda 6 month pre paid prior and that was pretty good.

  • I'm feeling bad for the environment with all this sim hopping. If only telcos cared for consumers after we sign that contract!

    • +2

      It's time for esims

      • What's stopping us?

        • they already tried that with CDMA and it was an horrific disaster, got hacked up the wazoo & that's why it was shut down & we went to sim chips ;) much harder to hack an account when the encryption key is held on the chip itself rather than on a network.

    • it's not the sim, it's all the packaging!

      • +1

Ever seen fast food and bottled water… now there is packaging excess.

  • Does this work in Optus branded USB modem?

    • It should. Saying it should as Catch uses the Optus network. Don't quote me on that tho.

If the device is unlocked, it will on any network.
I would hop onto a live chat with Optus to confirm.

  • The same $10 cashback from cashreward.

    • +2

      Hi nnhthuan,

No they're only offering $4 cashback for these $4.90 plans.

      • Yep, ur right

  • -7

"Oh no! Your installed ad blocker plugin is stopping you from getting cashback!"

Oh no! Your web site is stoping you from acquiring another customer.

    • +3

      Hi gikku,

Actually, enabling ad blockers is one of the key reasons that many transactions do not track, which is why we have this measure in place.

  • OK so id be coming from a plan, which contract has now ran out. Was with Optus so Optus coverage from this suits. Galaxy S7. So by activating this and putting it in my Optus account would be cancelled? Completely new to pre-paid sims.

Would Optus offer me anything better by calling them and saying I no longer want a plan, just sim only?

I'd be looking at about 20gb per month I'd say most months as getting off my current Optus deal I'll lose my free Spotify streaming. Got no idea how much data that takes up,

  • I just bought one but my card was charged $49.90 instead despite receiving an invoice for $4.90. called catch connect and they promptly refunded. So everyone, please check your credit card account

    • Same to me. I am trying to call them but long wait. Live chat person is not helpful at all.

      • CATCH CONNECT IS SHIT. DON'T BUY FROM THEM. I WAS INCORRECTLY CHARGED THE FULL AMOUNT AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND MY PROFILE. I HAD TO TALK TO THEM FOR 30 MINUTES EVERY DAY FOR 3 DAYS. STILL UNSOLVED!

        • Thanks for the warning, I only paid them with a debit card with less than $10 so they couldn't overcharge me.

  • +1

Does the SIM have to be activated by Jan 23rd? As per https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/425769?

    • Hi Dadidalol,

No the $4.90 offer ends on 23rd January. Activation must occur within 30 days of purchase.

The post you linked to says:

Must activate within 30 days of purchase or 23/01/19 (whichever is earlier).

But activation by 23/01/19 doesn't make sense - if you make the purchase on the 23rd you wouldn't receive your SIM on time to activate.

      • +2

Just an update, we've received update from Catch Connect that they're ending the offer early (tomorrow 9/1 at 11am AEDT).

        • I'm seeing $49.90 on their website.

          • @DuckKnight: You need to click through the $4.90 link via ShopBack as the $4.90 offer isn't promoted on Catch Connect's homepage.

  • So people try this for a month and move on? Just new with Sims that's all.

    • +1

Correct - just pump and dump.

  • i still have new sims from kogan and amaysim, maybe i should keep a spreadsheet to keep track of these things.

To turn off your auto-recharge, you must first navigate to your dashboard and select "Check it out" on your plan. From here you can select "What would you like to do?" and then "manage auto-recharge". Make sure it is off and you click the update button to ensure the changes are saved.
