      I oppose hunting.

That's nice, nobody cares. This is still allowed on Ozbargain and Amazon sells plenty of crappo hunting / tactical accessories.

Mostly. If you're not protecting a crop or native animals, or going to eat it, don't kill it.

What really pisses me off though is American hunters calling them "conservationists". There's no conservation in death.

        There's no conservation in death.

You kill off 10K roos so the rest of the population don't starve to death or you kill none and they all starve to death. There really is.

      I oppose hunting.

Cool story. I oppose buying meat from a supermarket

Why does the Amazon listing show a recommended application as "Hunting"?

Because one recommended application for a trail camera is for hunting?

    • +1

So don't comment and ignore it. No one cares if you oppose hunting.

      I oppose hunting

That means you like feral animals causing the extinction of many native animals. And that's only one of the many benefits.

      Note: I have never hunted

There are also many other benefits for these cameras. Help protect your campsite from thieves whilst you are away from your tent. Many government agencies (such as NP&WS) use them to catch people doing the wrong thing, or maybe you're having a problem with mail theft. Use your imagination. The camera never killed anyone.

  • In Ozbargain we're more bargain hunters than real hunters

Can this used to hunt neighbours?

  • +2

Wondering whether the IR gives off a glow?

Want to use it in the front yard, but don't want it to be obvious to would-be-thieves.

    • I would also like to know - I want to hunt me some thieves.

    • 940nm SHOULD be invisible with the naked eye for 99% of people. But that's providing they used real 940nm LEDs, some manufactures use low quality 940's that might as well be the "low glow 850nm" LEDs.

If you want to use one to catch criminals, get a dearer one that transmits the images to your phone/cloud service, that way even if the scum take the camera you still have the evidence. If you're using it to monitor wildlife and just worried about passerby's lock it to tree/post with a cable lock (presuming this model has a cable lock mount)

      • Thanks for the reply, unfortunately where I want to use if there is no internet available.

        • Is there any mobile coverage at your needed location? The cameras that I am referring to have a SIM card slot and automatically send the pics/video to you. If importing them from OS just check that they're frequency is compatible with our mobile networks.

          • @mapax: Nope - I`m talking about real rural area.

            • +1

@saffers: Nice, wish I had somewhere like that.
Lol, if you were in Vic I would offer to keep an eye on the place from time to time and do a bit of pest control.

  • Is there a version with solar charging?
