Sennheiser HD201 Headphones for $14.99 + $5.99 Postage at 1-Day

410

Same as these ones from last year.
http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/25201

I got a pair of these for $37 from that previous Office Works deal.
I'd highly recommend them, pretty good performance and mine are still in pristine condition after all this time.

Pity 1 day like selling knock offs otherwise i would be excited aswell

    • Really? They'd sell knock-offs?

      Goodness, I better not then.

Can anyone else confirm either way?

      • If you go through previous deals you will get a very good idea.

      • +12

ive dealt with 1-day before. Havent received any knock offs - although i didnt get the RL polo shirts that ppl were saying were knock offs (and i think 1-day offered refunds if customers werent happy?)

        • +11

same here, plenty of purchases from 1-day, no issues with fakes (although didnt buy the 'accused' items)

        • +10

Same here, always had a pleasant experience. Bought over around 15-20 items from 1-Day (during my COTD/1-day bargain hunting phase), and never received anything dodgy. Most of the items are shipped from NZ (so it's not exactly like China), and they have a great team over there that handles inquires relatively quick.

Let's not be so quick to smear their reputation.

        • Same here, no issues with customer service or products from 1-day. As a matter of fact have received great service and they have even credited me back the monies straight away for products they could not replace under warranty and other which got dented in transit.

      • -2

The Skins gear they had a while ago was legit, that's the only thing I've received from them that wasn't a knockoff.

        • Are you implying you have bought other stuff from them that you didn't reasonably expect to be a knock-off?
The Ralph Lauren polo shirts and original Voodoo knife block set offers have been the only things they've offered for sale using the brand name when it was actually a knock-off to my knowledge.
(My deal posted late last year was not actually advertised by 1-day as a Voodoo brand set, they were my mistaken words, not theirs)

      • +2

No issues with fakes from them so far, shipping is very fast and the whole process is painless. Very unlike Crap of the Day, Scoopon etc. They can sometimes be misleading though. I recall a "bladeless fan" which looked like a Dyson, had the same description as the Dyson, was claimed "don't pay $399" which is RRP of the Dyson, but was actually a no-name knock-off… and within 5 minutes of emailing them insisting that I expect it to be a real Dyson given that they're claiming RRP $399 and none of the clones have that RRP, they cancelled and refunded my order claiming "supplier issues". Still, I'd rather they handle it that way where I don't actually lose anything than how scammongers like CotD handle issues.

        • Same, they cancelled my order & refunded the money on the Dyson knockoffs with absolutely nil dramas & very promptly.

Much like yourself & many others I've had dozens of orders with them with complete satisfaction! :)

      • +3

The lollipops I bought off them where from Vietnam, but they where still good.

  • I get the following message when I try to pay for it:

    1-Day Payment Confirm
    Response DECLINED
The transaction was declined. Funds were not transferred
    Description 2573922
    Transaction Type Purchase
    Amount (AUD) $35.97
    Card Type Visa
    Authorization Code

No idea why - maybe no stock left?

Perhaps a problem with NAB, as the bank site seems to be down!

    Anyone know?

    • +2

worked for me just now must be something to do with your credit card

      • I'm glad it was declined, as I've now checked all the previous deals and fake stock reports… I'm lucky it didn't go through!

        • There have been 2 such deals ever to my knowledge..
"Ralph Lauren" Polos and "Voodoo" knife blocks.
All other fakes have not been advertised using the relevant Brand name, therefore can hardly be described as being deceptive.

    • Perhaps a problem with NAB, as the bank site seems to be down!

      it's fine for me

      USING Google Chrome

    • NAB is having technical diffictulties again today. Check news.

    • +1

NAB are having glitches with their banking today, http://www.theage.com.au/business/no-end-in-sight-for-nab-pa…. Hopefully, NAB customers have some cash spare.

    • NAB has been down today, it's in the papers (on their websites anyway)

  • I can't buy from 1-day using their new system - it says my card doesn't support this type of transaction (without verification code, I guess). So that's a shame, these are excellent headphones.

    • +2

and then I tried again and it worked. Weird.

  • -6

They are a pretty good closed phone for someone on a budget.
At $15 I'm not sure I trust their authenticity.

    • +1

That's not fair. I post my suspicion at the legitimacy of them from past experience with their products and my negative vote gets revoked. Sure vote me down if you want but revoking my vote is uncalled for.

      • Once you reach a threshold of negative votes, your negative vote is automatically removed.

        • i missed this comment, thanks mark

        • um.. you're welcome :)

        • lol, i meant i misread tilduke's comment and didnt reply. :P

        • That smile was hiding a question mark and so is this one, you just lost me :)

  • I just used my Nab mastercard and it worked fine.

  • I just bought a couple, hopefully they are the genuine article.

  • Don't buy from them, everything I purchased has been fake - maybe not the toblerone (or maybe it was too).
    Fake Sennheisers are terrible.

  • +1

Sennheiser seem to be rolling over models at the moment. COTD was selling some cheap earphones the other day that were no longer on the website, when I checked they were old stock.

  • +3

they should be genuine. I've never had any issue with 1-day. All the stuff i've bought in the past is legit!

  • +1

I've taken the plunge too. I've purchased mossimo jeans from them which were real. But those ralph lauren polo shirts which a mate purchased are really questionable.

  • Jeesh if they are selling fakes I think Sennheiser would be pretty pissed off and would investigate it.

As for these headphones I bought them when DSE had them for $37 , a bargain , nice crisp sound.I use em on the train with lappy/iphone , cut out so much noise.

    A good deal.

  • brought my PS3 and ipod nano with them, real

  • can someone tell me if the earcup of this one is bigger/smaller than HD202 ? i have small ear and i feel HD202 earcup is the ideal size for me, so, i will get this (cheaper) if they are the same!
    thanks

  • Ordered 2, since I love these headphones. Already have a pair, but I can always do with a backup (or two) for when they wear out. I just hope they're real.

  • +1

Awesome headphones! If I didn't already have a pair or have a use for another I'd buy a 2nd one

Only slight con is that these headphones cannot be played loud, even at full volume on my PC speakers its only at normal level - and I do mean normal :P Still highly recommended though, very comfortable despite its cheap feel padding

    • That's precisely why I ordered two of them for my boys so they don't destroy their hearing.

  • Use your brain. The cheapest genuine HD201 you can buy from Hong kong is about $25 and the price on Amazon.com is $24. How come it is sold 1/3 cheaper in Australia?
I can say some of the knock-offs can look really good and the sound quality won't be too bad either because I come from China and know there are many manufacturers can make good quality headphones but that doesn't mean they don't make counterfeit products.

    • I don't think 1DaySale would sell cheap knockoffs (no problems for me thus far). Also Amazon wouldn't be selling them at cost price either

      • So you think 1DaySale is selling them at cost price and gaining some reputation for charity then?

        • shrugs I dunno. I just know they sometimes have good deals which are pretty much at cost price :P

    • Looked at some reviews on youtube and most of those (USA of course) were saying they bought them for around $15-20. The latest one about a month or so back from what I recall said it was picked up for $15. So since 1day buys it in bulk they could have gotten them for around $10 I would think especially with our strong dollar.

  • Thanks for the link, I ended up buying new sunnies (cause mine were just stolen) and a Hoodie cause I just moved to Canberra, but not the Headphones lol.

  • +1

HD 201 lacks Bass. Go for HD 202.

    • ah, since im into trance music, i will go for HD202 then… $59 at jbhifi, not too bad.
i read about the same thing, lack basses and volume for 201

    • +1

hd202 squeeze my (fat) head to the point where it hurts my ears and gives me headaches :/

avoid if you have a big head.

    • +1

Actually, after reading a few reviews (not just Cnet) the "lack of bass" thing seems to be a bit of a fallacy! ;)

  • How long does shipping take from purchase?

    • normally with in a week to max of 17 days for my orders (over 20 so far).

  • -1

You guys are naive to think these are real, might as well buy them off ebay.

    • Would they really sell chinese knock-offs?

  • Nice, bought two of them.

  • Ordered one, the price looks too good to be true, hope it's genuine.

  • I will be careful, they are quite notorious for being dodgy

They have sold fake chinese knock off's before, and they will do so again

    Buyer beware

  • They don't take Paypal :(

Would anyone be willing to buy it for me? I'll paypal the funds over to you with an extra dollar, and you can just buy it for me? Email me if you're interested

    • +2

Why don't you buy it from your local Officeworks, get them to pricematch and they will give you a further 5% discount.

      • Thanks I'll give that a shot! I didn't think they'd price match online stores

      • +2

Price matched at OW this morning. Bought two, however, they forgot to factor in the shipping fee so picked up two for $28.48. :) The guy actually went onto the 1-day site to check to see it was still in stock as I took in a printed screen grab.

        • Brilliant. That way you can assure that you buy the genuine ones and can also save the delivery fees.

        • wow that's awesome

they didn't calculate the shipping cost-> WIN!

  • -1

    OW do that? o.O
    sweet then. gonna do that.

Also if anyone wants, they can order this offer amazon uk for 13 pounds ($19) and if u place them with another item to total 25 pounds then u get free shipping too! This way, u noe its genuine!

    • I didn'tknow amazon uk shipped electronics to AUS?

      • -1

w8 oopps my bad. Ur rite, they DONT ship electronics.. facepalm

(can u neg ur own comments?)

  • lol they don't take paypal because of all the problems they would have as there are a lot of accusations of them selling fakes.

  • Awesome, two pairs of quite well reviewed Senny's shipped for the price of one sans shipping! Thanks for the heads-up Sage!!! :D

  • Thanks. I'm in for one pair.

  • I think the giveaway would be the warranty card and the instruction manual which should come with a genuine item. Also the printing on the box could be an indicator as to whether they were scanned and printed (should see a loss of quality).

    • +2

Also the printing on the box could be an indicator as to whether they were scanned and printed (should see a loss of quality).

you'd have to have the original box to do a proper analysis though

      • +2

Pop into OW to check it out.

  • +3

I did a quick comparison of my old HD201's and the ones from this 1-day deal,
compared the box and sound quality, they seem legit.

    • +2

Thanks for the update yet to receive mine. Is there a warranty card, manual etc inside?

  • Received mine today but there was no manual or warranty info so I would say this may be a knock off. The box and headphones look and sound really legit though so don't know what to think??

    • +1

I just received mine too. The headphones themselves look completely identical to my old ones, down to every tiny detail, and I don't actually remember getting a manual or warranty last time (not 100% sure though). However, the sound quality is noticeably different… a lot bassier (this model is known for not having much bass), and more muffled. I suppose it's possible they might have updated the headphones without changing the model number (they did change the packaging since I bought my old ones), but it seems unlikely.

I'm going to buy a pair from Officeworks to compare (and to see if a legit pair actually comes with a manual and warranty card or not).

      • Looked at quite a few unboxing vids on youtube and no manuals etc on theirs either so these probably are legit. Maybe it's their new packaging trying to cut down on costs since these are priced around $20-25 overseas. I mean there's even different serial number stickers on the bottom just like the ones I saw at DSE today and every thing just looks legit except for no manual and warranty. It would probably cost more to fake it this well lol. Read on a lot of sites that they are not meant to be bassy (without an amp etc to give it more juice) but should apparently get better with 30-40 hours of use. The sound quality even without much bass is pretty good imo.

        • You're right that they're not meant to be bassy, which is why it seemed odd that they were pretty bassy (I don't like a lot of bass, which is one of the reasons I like these headphones).

I don't know, maybe it's just the fact that the new ones haven't been burned in yet. Everything else about these headphones looks completely legit. They're either real, or extremely detailed fakes.
