  • Anyone know the lengths for each?

    • +3

Think the biggest one is around 57m or so.

    • -1

Assuming each LED is around 3-4cm apart, then I'd guess at 10m/18m/28m/35m + extra 5m to reach the plug.

    • +11

      56.9 meters for 1000 lights

Here's a photo of the label spec for the 1000 lights http://imgur.com/a/7VumIe1

      • Cheers dimple.

Wish I saw this before making an online purchase =/
Went in-store to check and they did not have any so I took a gamble.
That being said it should have been quite indicative after seeing the length for the 500

I created a table below with what I saw.

        • Is the 1000 long cable bad?

          • @cyrax83: It is unnecessary if you live in a small flat/unit
For me it was most definitely unnecessary to purchase 4 of them

  • -8

Gosh!!! Was once $149.99 now for $15. I can't imagine the profit margins such big stores have. I am sure at $15 as well they'd be making a considerable amount of money.

    • +6

      $15 is far below cost.

      • +2

        Source?

        • +1

          The fairies told him/her

      • I'm betting it isn't..

    • +4

no, its clearing the stock, which would not move otherwise for another 10 months

  • +5

    Thanks, Xmas 2019 sorted

  • The largest is 1000 lights. I was looking at these yesterday, in Melbourne CBD, and there are some outdoor lights, some solar lights and some coloured ones in the sets.

  • The 1000 does not mention solar

    • I don’t think there was any. There was some that were labelled as also outdoor but the transformer was only indoor. I would drop by the store and look at the range to confirm which ones people want.

Thanks! I was going to head into store tomorrow (as I was told 90% off would start tomorrow) to get the tree, but looks like online has it a day early! If anyone is curious, the selection of decorations are wider in stores.

    • In store is 90% off for decorations as well.

      • Thanks for the heads up. Looks like they started the clearance early.

        • And idea if Myer sells the larger/wider/normal style trees? After something big in the 8 foot region.

          • @db87: Went to Myer on Boxing Day to get a tree, all sold out except the spiral one. Looks like they discounted the trees in the week leading up to Christmas.

          • @db87: As @aargee said, all other trees are sold out. Pretty popular this Recent Christmas compared to the last that we were out of stock at my store 2 weeks prior to Christmas, all except the spiral one.

            • +1

@Aced21: Ahh bummer. I'd heard good things about the Myer trees and was hoping to snap a bargain. We'll be moving into our house in the coming months and we have the perfect spot for a good 2.5m worth of tree. I have no idea where to even start looking other than Myer, was hoping to surprise the wife. :(

As much as we'd love a big tree, there's no way we can justify the hundreds of dollars places normally ask for them. Seems a bit ridiculous.

              • +1

@db87: Yeah. Snapping a bargain with these trees are a gamble, especially if you wait near Christmas. I'm no expert on the trees but people are willing to spend $$$ on these full RRP to 30% off. Good luck with your search, or you can wait for the next Christmas sale (set up usually starts end of October; sales start mid November and up) from Myer and snatch it at 30% off.

                • @Aced21: I got a massive one 2 christmas's ago on the 90% off sale. It's really big and fluffy. I think because of them going to the 90% that year m, they may of decided to reduce earlier to have then sold before hand

  • Are these actually good ?

    • I want to know this too.

      • +13

        me tree!

Got a tree and 1000 lights. Also did anyone notice they are labelled as Liquid Emitting Diode fairy lights? :p

    https://www.myer.com.au/p/1000-liquid-emitting-diode-warm-wh…

    • Yeah, just came to post that!

    • -1

It will all end in tears.

  • +1

Discounted solar fairy lights are a deal 24x7x365 in my eyes.

  • +1

    Awesome, got 1xs500 and 2x300 solars <3

  • +1

Thanks - grabbed some (5) of the 300 Solar Warm Whites

  • +1

I was in the Sydney CBD store. Decent clearance section but all the trees gone

    Got:

    2 x $10 100 piece decoration packs,
    2 x $10 300 Multi Colour LED (not solar)
    2 x $15 500 Solar Warm White LED
    1 x $20 1000 Warm White LED (not solar)

    $90

Ordered a tree for click and collect at another store.

    • Were there any decent Christmas baubles left? The ones I have been to have a horrible selection (wooden left overs every store seems to have that no one wants)

  • +1

    Buy this for next year

    • +5

      You mean this year

      • +2

Lol I think you are right.

  • +1

wife was just talking about getting something like this for coming christmas. sorted!

  • are these suitable outdoors?

    • +1

I grabbed one of each. I only checked the 1000 box, and it did say suitable for both indoor & out.
I can check the 300 and 500 boxes tonight for you.

  • Annnnnnd it's gone.

  • That tree is gone, and a couple of other things but still seem to be a fair few lights left.

    • +2

The tree seems to still be in stock in a few stores (for example my local store in Toowoomba says "in stock").

  • +2

    Thanks, 6300 lights purchased.

    • 0_o

    • I though I was bad with 6000

    • +3

They can see your house from the ISS.

      • +1

        Haha

Next year will be our 1st Xmas in a house which is a good reason to go nuts.

        $200 total outlay delivered

  • +1

    Awesome deal. Grabbed 1x 1000 lot, 1x 500 lot and 1x 300 lot.

  • +1

Note there is also a 300 multi-colour (non solar) for $10. I got 2 packs of this.

    https://www.myer.com.au/p/300-warm-colour-multi-func-plastic…

  • +1

Will get a 1000 non-solar one. Much prefer non-solar as they are usually much brighter.

  • Anyone know of any good deals for a more 'traditional' looking Christmas tree? I'm hoping to pick-up a clearance deal for a 1.8m or taller tree.

    • Me too/two!

  • +1

    Thanks OP nabbed 3 x 300 solar

  • Anyone else having huge issues with the website? Is there an OzBargain hug of death?

    • +1

Nah it's just a piece of shit

    • +1

Have listed a couple of links to help you find products from the description.

  • +13

Went in store to confirm a few things. Thought I'd share them here.

For each pack there was a choice to choose between 240v and Solar
Here are some details regarding lengths and bulb spacings

No. of Bulbs Lead Length Bulb Spacing Dist between 1st and last bulb Total Length
    1000 7m 5cm 49.9m 56.9m
    500 5m 5cm 24.9m 29.9m
    300 7m 10cm 29.9m 36.9m
    100 7m 10cm 9.9m 16.9m

I should also mention that the solar also comes with batteries!!!!
    3x AA for the 500

  • So 20-60m. Hope you guys are good at coiling.

Considering there are bulbs attached, is a gasket coil still the best method?

    https://www.animatedknots.com/coiling/index.php

  • Wow those prices

    • Would anyone really have paid $200? How many would Myer have sold?

      • Even $100 on the 27th… how many would've snapped those up thinking it was a bargain @ 50% off RRP

  • +1

Went in store to pick up the reserved tree, it was sealed and I opened it up while in store and it was missing the power brick. It has a small white box at the top which was empty.

Myer wasn't sure where the hell it was. Hopefully doesn't happen to anyone else. Sadly that was the last one so no tree for me.

    • Thanks for the tip. I will open so I don’t have to take it back if mine is missing.

  • Did anyone manage to get some click & collect? I had to opt for postage. Still a great price, thanks OP.

  • still waiting for email of order completed and to be picked up. Ordered the tree not long after the bargain was posted. Expecting an out of stock email today

  • Got out of stock refund on tree

  • SORRY YOUR ORDER'S BEEN CANCELLED

Anyone else just get this email?

    • Yeah mine was cancelled as well. F U Myer!
I ordered the 1000 LED for pickup

    • Yes - my order for click and collect was cancelled too. I tried to order 2x 300 LED lights… I should have seen it coming…

      • Just checked now and it’s been cancelled :(

  • Order still in progress, yet the store I ordered from is still showing in stock.

    1000 leds.

    So much fail.

  • My tree order was cancelled. They are so understaffed now should have expected it. Probably left it till end of the day for staff to go get stock for click and collect orders

    • Ofcourse they do, they don't give a f

  • Paypal refund, 2 days later… wtf?!

  • My lights have been delivered, but tree still in progress :( Not much hope that I will get my tree from previous comments…

  • +1

I was really lucky and after two days, got the email for my trees. Picked them up today.

  • My tree is still in progress, so I phoned Myer. The lady said my order was still marked as back order, so I guess I will sit tight and see if it gets filled…

  • +2

Order got cancelled and refunded (lights) - Shame but what can you do, eh?
