Is Norton still known for causing extreme annoyance with continual pop-ups and generalised slow-down? Last time I used the (accurate) urine-coloured brand, it was a nightmare; albeit ~15 years ago.

    • used it for years no problem at all.

    • Norton is a good antivirus software.
It's also a complete pain in the arse.

Didn't experience slow down but damn those pop-ups. Oh and if you let it expire it will hassle you a lot more.

    • I was using Norton AntiVirus last year. On my gaming/home theatre PC it would bring up messages while I was watching films and TV shows and also while I was playing games. It was very, very annoying. It would only let you disable the messages for 24 hours. I couldn't stand it anymore so I uninstalled it and installed Kaspersky instead.

    • I have been using Norton for the past 10 years now and find it fast and no longer resource hungry.

The pop ups only occur if the subscription has lapsed or is close to lapsing. If this bothers you, either get a new subscription or else uninstall the program.

I always buy Norton during these cashbacks. My Norton is expiring in 30 days, so this latest cashback offer is perfect timing and works out very cheap per license (although I would prefer their 5 devices subscription)

      • The pop ups were happening from the very start of my subscription. It was an annoying and very inconvenient product feature. Not what I want or expect from a paid for product.

I didn't notice any performance issues with Norton. They must have rewritten it to fix them.

I received a free one from JB HIFI along with the laptop that I got. Still sitting in my drawer. Instead, I'm using Avast.

Oz-bargainers should get paid using it

  • I am honestly amazed that Norton is still in business after all these years. Not only is Windows Defender all you need, Norton slows the heck out of your comp.

    • It pops up annoying messages too.

  • can someone explain to me how the cashback works?

  • I'm just using the free McAfee anti-virus and Windows Defender, is that ok?
