    Just makes it quicker. You spend less time having to isolate this bit, then that bit until you find the target. So you have more time to go and find a new target and so forth.
    I can't comment on this particular pinpointer, however on other forums I've read about chinese pinpointers such as this one - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/GP-POINTER-Metal-Detector-Waterp… which is in a similar price range (actually a couple of dollars cheaper). Some people have said they are great and would buy again for the price, others have said a waste of money, so could be hit or miss.

  Any idea on penetration depth? I have been using the magnetometer (compass) on my phone with a metal sniffer app from playstore, and it has been working well to pick up hidden metal pipe underground and often as deep as 50-80cm underground. It looks for disturbance in magnetic field, and app seems to work very well.

  My new phone doesn't have a compasss, so i either need to carry my old phone for this app or use a metal detector type thing. (i use it to find old gas well casing for work)
