      Ears?

      • very funny… I was hoping for closer to 300… but I've gone for it anyway, zip pay makes it easier to handle haha

  • +10

$300 and I'm pulling the trigger.

    • +12

It's a mental thing for me, has to be in the 200s.

      299 or gtfo

      • +2

Me: Hey Mont, it on sale for $300!
        Mont: 299 or gtfo!
Me: I'll pay you the $1 diff! :D
        Mont: NOO! IT…IS…PRINCIPLe!!!!

    • -2

I'm waiting for $300 on ebay and then use 15% off gift card to bring it further down

      • +5

Or wait untill 2035 and buy it from a thrift shop for 20$

    • +2

$300 was my internal number too, eventually caved on the Qantas $303 + points, and glad I did. Excepting commercial deals, it didn't get cheaper.

      • Depending on how you look at it, it was cheaper on black Friday after Cashback. 319+12% cashback.

      • +1

  • $320's my benchmark.. but i'm more keen on the silver/white whatever color it is…

    • Beige

      • Silver, according to Sony

    • 320 is my threshold too. 30bucks but makes huge diff hahaha

  • +1

Grabbed one from Qantas sale, $32X + 2000 points.

After compared with my QC35ii, Bose one is more comfy but the Sony 1000XM3 has better ANC and sound experience.

    Eventually, I let the QC35ii go…

    • +1

Had the QC35ii and the Sony for a month to test out and returned the Bose. The Sony beats it in everything - construction, sound, NC, features, and comfort (which I know is subjective and varies from person to person).

The only thing the Sony doesn’t do is concurrent pairing with devices.

      • +1

Spot on! Bose concurrent pairing is awesome. Wish Sony could have it,too.

      • +2

how do you just try something for a month and then return it for a refund?

        • Tell me about it. I thought that's something only the yanks can do. Unheard of in Australia to simply return a month old product, one that's going to accumulate human matter on it over the course of a whole month.

          • +1

@daitro: i bought some wireless headphones to use playing games on the PC from JB Hifi. The software was so buggy, the headphones worked intermittently, it was super frustrating having the audio and mic cutting out. They were unusable, but JB would not give me a refund. Gave me a new pair, same problems. So many people experiencing the same faults on the internet, so now im just stuck with a pair of headphones that don't work and the firmware will never be updated

    • Which one is louder?
Do they have delay on YouTube videos?

      • The Sony by a margin. No delay on both but according to reviews online, this varies depending on your device and surroundings.

      • The Bose 35ii that I got have sound delay on the YouTube app. Drives me nuts so I’m going to return them.

Love the simultaneous BT pairing of them but the lag with YouTube is a killer.

    • +3

Hmm, construction was alright on the Nuraphone, but I found it way too heavy? Like the bands would move around when I was walking. Great for flights, but had to return them. I like these Sony ones.

      • +2

Agreed, nuraphones were so heavy that they seem like a prototype to me. A not uncommon first gen issue i guess.

        • Dat Nuraphone construction is amazing worth every gram of extra weight, event the case is fantastic. I want that quality in the Sony, I'd get two pairs

  • Just got mine delivered this morning.
Found out I had a 10% targeted code on ebay, bought 10% eBay gift cards from other ozbargainer cuz I missed those 15% off from eBay uk. Flying overseas in 2 weeks time so TRS bring it down to $290~

    • what's the targeted code?

      • You can find it in your eBay account summary if you are targeted.

        • never got a targeted % off except the PTOPX, only $10 off some min purchase..

    • Would you provide the link of the eBay store you got it from? Thanks

      • I got it from addictedtoaudio eBay store, wireless1 eBay store selling at the price too but not sure if they provide tax invoice or not

  • What has been the lowest price on these?

    • +3

Try use ozb search. It do work!

    • +3

I got them for $280 from JB HI-FI, after price matching the Harvey Norman commercial deal.

      • woah i thought 320 was the lowest. man 280 sounds awesome

        • Yeah super super lucky really

    • +1

$274 C&C (Or + Delivery) @ The Good Guys Commercial

think ill flip a coin…Bose or Sony ??? Need something for 4hr train commute everyday…

    • +7

      New job?

4 hours is impressive - well done.

    • +4

      Sony for better ANC.

People keep saying the qc25 looks better but the bose one looks the same as those $10 cheap headphones….

      • I have had a QC35 and I swapped to the Sony for better ANC. The mic is garbage and I do think the Sony's look and feel like cheap plastic compared to the Bose. Still value ANC better so keeping them.

      • ANC aside, what about the actual sound quality?

        • +2

I found the QC35 sounded better than the xm3 but many people disagree. I guess you need to try them yourself to decide which one suits you better.

          • +5

@ttkc: Free advice - Compare the comfort of wearing when comparing these two. A comfortable headphone outstrips, by far, the minuscule difference in sound quality if any. I tried the XM3 and did not like the comfort. Bose is still the king, overall, if you ask me.

            P.S. Sorry replying to @Montorola.

            • +1

@dealsucker: Comfort varies greatly on shape of skull. I agree, the QC35's felt better, but I have not had any comfort issues wearing the Sony's either. Try both before you buy.

        • I tried both from jb. to me, Sony had better sound. I actually went into the store to check QC35II and sony was right next to them so I had to try.
sony had more clear sound. I still can't decide between Sony and bose cuz bose headband pressured down my head too much but my heart says this time I should get a bose since I never owned them before. sounds stupid but it's happening lmao

        • +1

Sony got better quality imo, deeper bass and 'clearer' than QC35II.
Drawbacks: terrible when making a phone call

      • Another thing to note: I found that the QC15 and QC35ii seem to apply some sort of air pressure which slightly hurt my ears after prolonged usage. This did not happen with the Sony.

    • I have both, the ANC on Sony slightly better but not so much better to influence decision.

I use Bose 99% of the time, wife uses the Sony. Just like the connectivity and fit of the Bose more.

    • Currently own the Bose, but I must say that the sound quality is better on the Sonys and it charges using USB C so it would be one less cable to carry. I also like being able to cup the headphone to hear whats going on around without having to take the headphones off. The only thing keeping me from letting go of the QC 35 is the comfort. They're lighter and more comfortable to wear which is more important to me when travelling.

    • Definitely recommend the Sony. Great battery life and fit as well as industry leading audio and noise cancelling.

    • +1

I have had both eneded up selling the Sony’s. I think the sony’s Sound better and have better NC but the Bose are much more comfortable. They also look a lot better on your head. Especially if you are bald! Can’t stress that enough the Sony’s looks TERRIBLE on a bald head.

      • Haha I don’t be have a bald head but I felt that the Bose headband protruded outwards more than the Sony.

      • +3

Sony’s looks TERRIBLE on a bald head.

I thought they were headphones. What bald person cares about their looks? It's over for them.

        P.S. Baldy man here

  • Alexa integration just announced at CES. Now your headphones will be able to listen back to you!

    • Google Assistant already got your (infos) back

  • Just purchased! Was tossing up between these and the QC35ii, this was enough to tip me over.

Can return within 3 weeks if I'm not happy anyway. Can't wait to check em out!

    Thanks OP :)

  • Not sure if Harvey Norman can price match this?

I managed to price match when TGG had it with 10% off and got 5 Black ones at $359.10 then used the 20% off Domayne gift cards to pay. Planning to take them to China as gifts to the Xiaomi guys and get the GST back, after all it comes down to roughly $260 each. Hope they would be impressed with these as they retail for 2800~ CNY(~$570AUD) in China.

I tried these in JB hi-fi the other day paired with my phone (no app) and they sounded really flat. Does the sony app make all the difference? Are there comparable headphones that sound good but don't need an app?

    • They're bass heavy and have a dark sound by default, which might be what's making them sound 'flat' to you.

The app has an equalizer that you can use to boost the treble, which I found improves the sound a lot.

Why not install it on your phone and try them in JB again? That's what I did.

  • I love my QC35s and the mrs wants some too but is a Sony tragic. I'm surprised how many prefer these so I think I might grab some. Has anyone used Zip financing before?

  • +1

Wait for $300-320 and you will need to wait a bit longer. The ATA and other non commercial trade deals didn't come through before or after Xmas on these. Its a painful wait for those that haven't brought them yet. Wait till September and the Mk4 will be out and these will be below $300 if you can get them. But then Aarh should I wait for the $500 Mk4s to go down to $300-320. There seems to be a tragic pattern here. I'm waiting for the 5s or 6s. By then they would have worked out the styling, multi-connectivity, a better mic, and even further improved sound. But not so concerned about the mic as I have taken calls with the M2 and they are fine.

By the way these are NC headphones, so I don't know why everyone bangs on about the sound quality not being up to scratch. Audiophiles go elsewhere. Try them on and see if you can check iht with the app equaliser first if the music quality is very important out of the box.

  • Pulled the trigger. I was hoping for closer to 300 but am going overseas in 3 weeks so will save the GST :)

  • Price match @Domayne and buy 2 +$50 giftcard with amex cashback will get it @300 each and 50 dollar giftcard to spend on something else

    21 day full refund guarantee*

    • but we will charge you a 15% restocking fee
  • Someone please tell me why I should upgrade from Sony MDR-ZX770BN

I'm not audiophile but want to know why this headphones so popular worth over $300?

      • way better noise cancelling
      • better sound
      • better battery life
      • quick charge 5 minutes for 5 hours listening time (I think)

I have the MDR-ZX770BN from a Harvey Norman deal, there is a difference. It depends on what type of music you listen to.

      • MDR-ZX770BN has noise cancellation on the microphone. WH-1000XM3 does not. If you use it for calls definately MDR-ZX770BN is better in that regard

I don't know how much sound quality difference there is for listening music. Because there is a high quality mode on MDR-ZX770BN as well.

I'm not sure if you can use 3.5mm on the WH-1000XM3.

I only heard WH-1000XM3 can be folded.

I'm unsure what you mean kind of music. I only know the frequencies, range might be better

I bought a refurbished MDR-ZX770BN for like $180 few years ago from Sony direct. I don't know if it's worth the upgrade. Perhaps I shall wait

    • Because its on OzBargain. That's the only reason you need.

Buy first, regret later. Dont tell the wife.

      • Not always the case but something that's useful and don't collect dust. My money goes to investment and home loan or even holiday.

The quality difference might not worth $300 bucks
