Anytime Fitness (Bardon) Half Price Joining Fee, Monthly Discount, 2 Weeks Free, Free Weekly Boxing Class

32

I just started a free trial at a gym with the support of a frequent gym going mate. I'm keen to sign up and he showed me this promotional deal. The deal is listed on the Anytime Fitness Bardon Brisbane facebook page. I'm under the impression that Anytime Fitness gyms are about the flexibility to attend any centre around the country and even some overseas so in saying that if the deal sounds good but you are not close to Bardon it still might be worth while to look into - you may still save money but not be able to take advantage of the free weekly boxing class. Details of promotion on their facebook post;

✅2 weeks FREE
✅Discounted monthly rate
✅50% off JF
✅Complimentary nutrition and program consultation
✅Free weekly boxing class

Anytime constantly send me emails throughout the year asking me to come back at no joining fee and the old price I paid when I quit (which is about 25% less than their current rates).

This deal above seems ok, but I'd be pushing for no upfront fees.

    • interesting, my mate told me he had no joining fee when he signed up around three years ago. That's something I will enquire about when I speak to them about signing up.

how much is the monthly fee?

        • my mate's is about $48 a month. It all depends on what you want in your deal. This is a 24 hour gym which is what appeals to us as we go at 10pm or later. If you want to use the gym outside of regular hours you pay more. I've registered my interest through this very deal so am waiting to be contacted to find out what the costs will be. I will update the post when I find out more.

          • @Joey Jo Jo: Thanks mate, all I'd want is the 24 hour features thats about it.

            • @richy_o: My mate said he pays $14 a week for 24 hour access and any gym centre location access. That being said that's the deal he signed up for around three years ago so unsure how much prices have changed.

              • @Joey Jo Jo: Same price as me but for Plus Fitness, got the key card free and a free month because the owner was quite familiar with some of my friends.

          • @Joey Jo Jo: I paid $62 (just for access to the gym, nothing else) a year ago, so be sure to price match and ask around.

      • Keep in mind what has more value to you though, if you are going to use those boxing classes, the ~$50 you might have to pay at sign up (I am assuming joining fee was $99?) might be worth it. Plus you get 2 weeks off etc. Can't remember if I got that when I signed up.

I just have a "thing" about paying upfront fees!

        • 100% agree, I'm keen to routinely hit the free boxing class if the deal works out to be good value.

    • I've quit since last August and I haven't been sent any emails at all.

Worst gym I have ever joined. More stories here https://www.productreview.com.au/p/anytime-fitness.html

Weird, I actually found the Westfield Sydney one pretty great. It is small, but for the price I was paying it was good. They never gave me a hard time about leaving the gym either.

This was 4 years ago though.

      • The service I/we received was very inconsistent. Whenever I or my relatives had an issue with them, we had to contact them several times or even visit in-person to get the solutions because when they promised to call back they never would.

They overcharged us for several months and refused to refund the deposit for the temporarily access key which they claimed that they've upgraded their systems and the new key fob were been used instead and therefore, the old key and the refund becomes inapplicable.

When I asked to cancel my membership after being with them for 3+ years (no contract), they insisted that I have to pay for another month before I can quit. Although this was on the contract but I haven't been using their gym for more than 3 months due to job relocation yet they still threaten to have their debit collector involved if I didn't pay.

Funny thing was the staff over the phone told me I had to sign a membership cancellation form in-person so I had to travel 2 hours on a Sat morning (the only staffed hours I could make it in) for this yet when I arrived I found out that she just verbally accepted my request of membership cancellation!

Heaps similar stories on the link I shared.

If anyone is looking to join anytime fitness, you can consider bundling it with AIA Vitality for discounted rates, bonus gift cards and other perks!

    • I'm actually looking into this. Can you please advise how much its working out to for you?

      • +1

Works out to be $507.20 per year combined after the $100 quarterly cashbacks. I’ve also received $400 worth of Woolworths gift cards from AIA Vitality

        • Thanks. Is this part of your health insurance or have you subscribed to it separately?

  • Doesn't Anytime Fitness have a 1 month period when starting off where you can only use your keycard for your home gym? I wanted to have a membership for when I visit Japan but I much prefer the Plus Fitness gyms around me.

    • This is correct, for the first 30 days you can only visit your home gym/where you signed up. After that, you can access any worldwide. I used mine in Japan, too.

I went to sign up to my local anytime a few months ago, a mate is paying $12 a week for this ($48 per month)

I said I wanted the same deal and the manager said no, so I showed myself out.

It didn't look that appealing, quite small and not a lot of equipment.

Expensive at there $18-$20 week they were asking.

    • Yeah, that's strange. I've been a member of Anytime for the past 3-4 years, and only this week have signed up at another gym. I've just browsed to my gyms page as if I wanted to sign up as a new member, and they've got prices as low as $11.95/weekly debit, whereas I was previously paying about $16 ($64~/monthly debit).

Asked my manager a while ago if I could lower the cost somehow, he said no. Didn't tell me I could've cancelled and re-joined at a cheaper rate, though…

      • Oh wow. Which anytime is this ?

        • Not going to name, but Melbourne, Eastern suburbs. It's a really small gym. Definitely surprised by the fees, considering I've just signed up to one which is not only cheaper, but also 24hr, more than double the size and had no membership joining fees.

      • Same here mate. I'm in Brisbane, a buddy in a suburb like 20 kms away was paying $11.95/weekly where as I've been paying $55 (in the first year) then $62 (or 64) monthly for the from 2015-2018.

50% joining fee isn’t really a bargain. They have promos all the time (zero joining fee). Plus, there are other establishments with better pricing and no lock in contracts.

    • Yep this isn't a deal at all. They do no joining fee + $350 credit sometimes (they post the gift card to home).

      • explain this one further please. Is this gift card for the gym as in you can use it to pay for weekly/monthly fee?
How much was this deal and how long was the contract?

        • For the fitness classes only, I never used any classes though so I assume you've got to sign up more contracts in order to use. Definitely not for the membership fee lol.

How much was this deal? There wasn't any real value to be honest as I mentioned I didn't need / want any of their fitness classes or programs and so the only benefit was perhaps if I had a family member or friend who'd like to join during the promotional period then they could potentially save on joining fee.

I believe I can safely assume that all contract had to be at least 12 months.

          • @beOson: They're yet to get back to me. I just want a similar deal to my buddy who I've been going with. $14 a week, any time any location. Boxing class a week sounds alright. I'll report back on cost when I find out.

  • Agree, you should be able to get a no joining fee with little haggling. Anytime near me gave me that deal easily.

Though I use the Jetts near me, which works on a similar basis (24 hour, no lock in) charged 2 wks at a time and I like that I can bill to a credit card (earn QF points) rather than a direct debit from a bank acc. Jetts also gave me no join fee and a month free (plus the drab about complementary PT session and nutrition plan etc, which I don't need)

  • I have had a bad experience with Anytime Fitness, they signed me up at a cheaper rate but only after 1 month sent me an e-mail telling me they would increase my subscription by up to 30% as it was allowed under the contract based on what facility I used more often…
