Thanks qldmike, the FREE adapter arrived today and works perfectly with my Lenovo Laptop, can finally use my external monitor!!
Nothing against the product or the seller, just sharing my personal experience with you.
I have two of these adaptors not working on a MacBook. One was a freebie from Zapals and the other was a paid item from Kogan. Upon insertion the MacBook's screen would flash, indicating it recognised the adaptor, but then it would not recognise there is a second screen on the HDMI end. No secondary output device will appear in the control panel, and the HDMI screen would remain blank.
I also have three mDP to HDMI cables. These have mDP on one end, HDMI on the other, a cable with no adaptor in between. All three cables worked as advertised.
