  • how to buy it? I can't see any

    • click on "check availability" then "chat now"

      • it's not available now??

        • +5

this is Dell's factory outlet, so you have to chat with them in order to purchase.

          • @CVonC: Really? That's stupid. In the UK it's just a normal e-commerce site with a normal checkout process. Talk about employing someone for the sake of it.

            • +6

@C0mbat: Yep, that is how we do e-commerce in AU.

            • @C0mbat: Definitely wasn't always the case, used to be just a regular click & order transaction. Lame.

@FTTNope: Oh really. When did you think they changed to this model?

                • @Amaris: I haven't looked at the Dell refurb store in years, so they could've changed it a long time ago. Just don't understand why they'd change it to the current system.

                  • @FTTNope: I bought my refurb from them back in March 2017 and it was the same system. The layout of the website was much better though. It was all in a listed table. There is no need to show every single item in stock one by one like they're doing now. And yeah you can't even just purchase it too. Stupid.

              • +2

@FTTNope: Prior to this, it was "call a phone number and ask about the SKU". Current system with online live chat is actually an improvement!

    This is my experience

I purchased 3 monitors from dell outlet (refurbs), 1 had 0 cables and a heavily bent stand, so much so that it wasnt able to be attached to the screen.

Was advised they cant send out another stand, and refund is only option.

ok then so I purchase another monitor, this time a (as new) model.

Unbelievably it has no stand at all in the box.

Support advises they need to contact multiple departments,

I'm waiting a few days and I need a 3rd monitor, so I purchase another (as new) unit.

This one seems ok, but has a brightly lit pixel directly in the viewing area. oh well, will have to do.

What confuses me the most is how the refurb team did not identify 2 major faults (damaged stand and no stand)

do they even check them at all?

Strangely on the return label is says 'Return reason: Return as good stock'

Does this mean they just keep selling it on to the next person till someone says 'oh well good enuf'

    YMMV

I bought an "As New" U2412M a couple of years ago and it was indistinguishable from new, no bad pixels either.

Bit of a lottery on refurbs I imagine.

The U2412M is a great monitor if you have DVI ports

      • DVI Ports

DVI can be easily converted to HDMI with an inexpensive adapter.

Dell also make some speakers that clip onto the bottom. The speakers are nothing to write home about, but are convenient.

My biggest complaint is that the USB is slow (USB 2.0)

        • Slow USB goes with the age of the monitor. The U2412M was launched 7 years ago. Wouldn't have hurt to update it at some point though as it stayed on the market for a long time.

          • +1

@FTTNope: Isn't the U2415H the update to it?

      • Yeah I bought a refurb P2417H 2 years ago and it was pretty much new as well.

  • These are subject to 15% off. Not sure if that has already been applied or not.

      How?

      • +1

Previously it was $144. Now they offered 15% discount.
        $144x0.15=$21.6
        $144-21.6=$122.4

So the discounted price $122 is 15% off IMHO.

        • Yes the prices already include the discount.

  • When I wake up, no 4K monitor was left

    • The P2417Q and U3219Q are still listed

      • +1

        It’s only listed, not available

        • :(

  • According to the rep, $122 for U2412M is a pricing error, but they will honour the price.

    • +1

rep has no idea, there was an email saying 15% off on monitors in the outlet.

  • What sort of warranty do you get with these dell refurb/outlet monitors?

    • they all come with 1 year warranty

  • Been using this model for the past years! Going strong

  • Just bought 2 x E2219HN (22") $84.02 each

  • Has anyone had experience with ordering refurbished monitors from Dell? How was your experience and the condition of them?

  • Did anyone receive their U2412M monitor? How was the condition of it and your experience? I'm wondering if I should buy a similar refurb monitor in the future. Thanks!
