After searching for over an hour for a 5m displayport 1.4 cord available to Austalia, I thought I would post it here in case any else is searching.

This cord is listed on the certified list on the displayport website.

I haven't tested this cord yet - the longer cord length has a chance of resulting in some signal degradation.

normally i'd say BS for expensive cables but can confirm that the certified list is important for longer cables. I tried a number of cheapo 3m displayport cables and had all kinds of trouble until dropping ~$50 on a certified cable from the same list. had zero problems since then

    • Same, I got a cheap 3m cable from ebay but it didn't work. Where did you get your 3m certified cable?

I bought this certified DisplayPort 1.2 one from Dell AU and it works perfectly; though I'm using it for 165Hz @ 1440p, not 4K: https://www.dell.com/en-au/shop/startechcom-3m-certified-dis…

I had good results with dp cables from PLE, where ebay ones would not work. 1440p 144hz. 3m cable is $19

I wish locking pins on DP cables would go away.

      What???… Why?
(Also I gave you a neg accidentally. Not sure how to remove?)

        They're a hassle to remove.

And I don't see what purpose they serve. HDMI has no issues with cables coming loose of their own accord, and in a situation where they are accidentally physically pulled, say tripping on a cable, I'd rather the connection breaking then the potential for expensive hardware to go flying.

Click on "votes", there you can see the votes and remove yours. Same thing for deals. You can only remove your vote though, you can't vote again.

Idea of locking pins isn't all bad (think machinery where there's lots of vibration), but they definitely need to change the design so the pins "give" when pulled on.

        • Ah ok. I see the logic there. Generally can't access any of my leads but I can see why that could lead to an unnecessarily expensive accident.

  • yeh anything over 1meter need good quality. I had 3m el cheapo $10 one and the display would lose signal go black screen for 1 sec and resume. couldnt work out why, thought it was my GPU, then i switched to a 1m cable and worked perfectly. now using a $40 cable i got and no problems at 144hz.

This is a good read for anyone wanting further info regarding DisplayPort cables

  • Just received the cord - I don't have a 4k display, using it at 1440p 144hz without any issue.

Previously was locked at 85hz with a 5m monoprice cable, and with a 10m 'active' startech cable.
