  • Hi friends,

I'm thinking of purchasing this $15 90-day prepaid plan and continue to port out and port in for as long as the deal runs (seems like it will be for a while). I've never ported out and in before so could someone please tell me everything about porting out and in? even how much hassle it involves.
From my understanding you would have to port out (transfer your catch connect number to another SIM card of a different service provider like telstra or vodafone) and then port back into catch connect.

I am currently with lycamobile and have a scratched SIM in which they gave me a new SIM with a different number and all I had to do was activate that new SIM and transfer my phone number over. This here is all internal, not involving other service providers at all. Another question related to porting out and in for this 90 day plan is can't this method be done by catch connect internally? For example, buy a brand new SIM with the $15 90 day plan (much like a new customer) and then transfer your existing catch connect number to this new SIM.

Please be as detailed as much as possible. I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

    • Also, when buying a new 90 day plan to port back into Catch Connect, would you have to create a new account with a new email again or can you use your existing account and its corresponding email?

  • Received my sim today and activated it, service was live including number port in about 15 minutes. Never known an activation so swift. About 10 mins later I received my first lottery spam sms. I hope this is not related, and not a sign of things to come.

  • Can we purchase 3 sims?
Do we need to make new account everytime?

  • Odd wording. Here's the terms and conditions

I think if you re-arrange it to make it clearer it says

after your relevant Prepaid Plan standard inclusions and any Data Extras or International Extras packs have expired or been fully used up …
If you have any unexpired Catch Extras balance remaining …
you will be charged the following rates for these usage types

Then follows a list of costs for calls to standard mobiles, landlines, voicemail retrieval within Australia, SMS, MMS and data

I think it was supposed to say

If you do not have any unexpired Catch Extras balance remaining

Note: calls on this plan are not listed as using a credit, but are unlimited

    Service experience

Activated around 10:30am, porting mobile number from Kogan / Vodafone. (Note: do this while you still have your previous service, as you have to receive an SMS)

Procedure took a few minutes on the computer. Then a few minutes wait for "Kogan" to disappear off my phone (phone signal still exists). Then I was connected to Catch with the correct number.

    Very happy with the process.

I did 5 speed tests in Burwood East with Catch/Optus LTE.
    60-110 download speed (3 around 80)

Kogan/Vodafone tests have been 100-120 in the same area (maybe 10 tests)

    Remember to:
    - log onto CatchConnect
    - go to Dashboard
    - check into your plan
    - "What would you like to do?" Manage Auto Recharge
    - Clear the Auto Recharge option AND update

    • Note: I logged back in hours later and checked, and the Auto Recharge was STILL checked. This looks suspicious

I've now tried with BOTH Firefox and Internet Explorer. When logging back in, the auto recharge is checked once more!

I ended up doing a web chat. The agent was able to turn it off for me, after a minute or two

  • omg why is this optus network connection so bad, much worse than Kogan/Vodafone I was using prior to this. I'm getting dropouts, I literally can't have a proper conversation unless I put my face up against the window. I'm also getting a lot of missed calls and goes to voicemail because the incoming calls are not received!! And I always thought optus would be better than voda
