I got it when it came with the bigger 5ah battery. That gives about 15 minutes of battery life.

    • I think the 18V always came with 2ah

      • +2

        Welcome to Ozbargain young man.

    • You may have the other model, I have this one with a 2ah and lasts at least 10-15 minutes.

    • +1

You bought this one that has the bigger battery? https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-one-18v-5-0ah-cordless-blo…

      • +1

Yes, that one. Sorry, didn't realise the model differed.

    • I bought mine with the bigger 5AH battery too - it lasted a lot longer than 15 mins?

  • +2

Bought one last time they were 75 bucks, better than I expected. Battery lasts way longer than the other blower skin.

    • Then it won't be as powerful if battery lasts longer

      • +4

It's a completely different blower, this is lower velocity, high volume, the other one is high velocity low volume and there for needs more power. I've used both and I personally prefer this one. I use it to kick start my Weber as well.

        • Kick start the Weber?

          • +2

@serpserpserp: Using it to accelerate the burn of the charcoal, to get them red hot faster to start your cook.

Any blower will work though…..hair dryers, heat guns.

Beats doing it manually or faffying around using too many fire starters.

          • @serpserpserp: Yeah I basically have my chimeny on a slight angle, use the blower to blow up through the bottom to accelerate it, super convenient because it uses a battery. Also blows out all the ash from the bottom of the Weber so gives it a bit of a clean at the same time.

  • +1

    Charger alone is $69!

    • Is it just a blower, or vacuum also? Thanks

    • Is it compatible with Ryobi drill 18v 4ah battery?

      • +2

Should be. All over the Ryobi 18v stuff uses the same battery.

        • Yeah. I had a Ryobi battery drill before they went to the whole One+ system - works with the One+ batteries (which was handy when its batteries died). Same keying on the battery shaft and same pin location ^_^

    • +1

Yeah but the charger on its own is useless :p

But seriously, nobody buys just the charger! You always get it in a bundle.

      • …how else are you supposed to quantify what the bundle is actually worth?
the way i see it for $75 you get:

        charger = worth $69
        battery = worth $49
        blower skin = worth $50-60

so a pretty damn decent deal for this bundle…i was happy to pay $99 when i grabbed it last year when i needed a new battery which would have cost me $49 on its own!

  • +2

I think this is it's normal price. It has been this price since October according to Price Hipster and according to me keeping an eye on jet blower prices for myself.

    • -1

      …was $99 prior to that
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/381797
…and even at that price was a significant bargain (as grrooler posted above charger is worth $69 alone)

      • +1

Yes, it was $99 when it first came out on 18th of May 2018. Now it's $75. Since October.

You can't judge it's value based on the cost of the overpriced battery. If you have a look at the 36V set you'll see the battery and charger is over $250. That doesn't mean the equipment that includes it at $360 is a bargain.

Is this a good, cheap jet blower? Probably.

It's this a bargain in the OzBargain sense? No. This is its normal price.

Edit: have a read through the (few) comments in that deal you linked to. One user says they got it for that price 2 weeks prior. Another user says this: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/381797#comment-6006424

        • -2

…limited stock left, less than half price of retail…sounds like a bargain to me

skin alone is worth more than $47.97 US on homedepot.com

  • I know cant compare this with the blower from Aldi which arrived Saturday - i wanted a basic one so picked up from Aldi. Not bad eh!

    • Same boat for basic after line trimming - this vs Aldi

      • +6

No such thing as a bad blower….I’m sure you’ll be satisfied.

      • Use a rake.

  • +3

Anyone use this to dry their vehicles? any feedback?

    • +3

I use the ozito cordless blower and workshop blower on my car.
It has a more concentrated nozzle compared to this Ryobi one.
Plus the workshop blower is much lighter and has a rubber tube so don't damage the car off you bump it

      • +6

lol never thought you could use a leaf blower as a car dryer

      • I use a leaf blower on the car too, not necessarily for drying though. More for getting the water out of the nooks and crannies that then leave long drip marks after wiping.

    • +1

I bought this for $75 during black Friday sales, tried it, was useless for drying car.

In fact as a whole it was pretty weak - ended up returning it.

    • +1

I actually have. No good. Bit too weak.

    • I use a corded Ozito I picked up in a previous sale. Loud as fcuk on turbo setting but I have my headphones in so it drowns it out. Works well but still need to finish off with a big plush towel.

    • +3

don't bother with this one, air speed is too slow at 145km/hr. This kind of blower is more suited for leaves and such as it has a big opening. You would want something like this , small nozzle, high speed and high CFM. I have a corded one with that kind of nozzle and around 300km/hr and 150cfm and does the job easily.

    • I normally do a quick fast drive then chamo dry.

    • Yup. Easily thhe best way to get water out of all the tight places

    • Glad I'm not the only person that does this…. blower and then window squeegee the rest.

    • I just drive it around above 40kmh….

  • …good blower. use it everytime i do the the lawns for clippings…great for the garage and undercover outdoor areas as well.
battery is very good…have been running it in in the blower and other devices like the hand vac and it really lasts ages between charges

    • Is it just a blower, or vacuum also? Thanks

      • +1

this deal is for a blower only (+ battery + charger)…

i bought the hand vac 6+ years ago and use it just about everyday or 2…great bit of kit
        https://www.ryobi.com.au/power-tools/products/details/18v-on…

        • +1

Totally agree, had the same hand vac for years now.

Brilliant. Works so well, powerful, light, and best of all when the battery runs out you just swap it out with a charged one. Minimal downtime!

Would buy again in a heartbeat! Possibly even if it wasn’t on sale. (Now that says something)

          • @rendo: …also replaceable filters! bought a couple new ones (special order only) to replace the original it came with
i dont think this thing will ever die… :)

            • +2

@franco cozzo: Oh…I didn’t know about the replacement filters.
              Thank you.

So that was a special order via bunnnings??
              How much? (Just approx?)

              Cash rewards?? Lol :)

              • @rendo: …yep the inner cartridge filter is available for purchase….mine got warped/distorted from too much air compressor gun cleaning and then one of my folks accidentally emptied it out along with the trash inside it one day :P

…from memory i paid around $16-17 dollars for 2x, special order desk

                no cash rewards unf. :D

    • Is it strong enough for lawn clipping? Hard to clean up after lawn mowing.
I'm thinking to buy this one.
      Thanks.

      • …just did my front & back yards and council strip with it. yes…no problem with clippings, leaves and dust :D

        • Thanks, I will buy :)

  • +3

I'm waiting for a good deal on the ryobi hedge trimmer. Fingers crossed.

    • …hedge trimmer & blower kit
      https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-18v-one-2-0ah-blower-and-h…

      …bit on the expensive side?

    • Agreed. Wonder if it's worth buying this blower, just to have the battery ready (and a blower) beforehand.

    • Indeed,

I’d keep your fingers well clear of the hedge trimmer, Or it will take those fingers of yours right off.

My Ryobi hedge trimmer is brilliant, just like the cordless vacuum. Really happy with it.

Just keep your fingers clear of the blade. Great tool.

      :)

  • +1

FYI, it's been $75 since around October last year. I think this is the 'normal' price for this unit.

    • -2

…nope was $99 prior to that and that was already reduced/on sale. i have a feeling this is being discontinued hence the price reductions…even at $99 it was a great buy considering the exact same charger is $69 by itself

      • What exactly was it "reduced" from? I can't find any evidence it's been more than that. It seems to have been released about 8 months ago at $99.

        • -3

ebay seems to suggest a regular price of $150+
          https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1…

          • +2

@franco cozzo: You know Ryobi exclusively sells to Bunnings, right? All these eBay sellers bought them from Bunnings. Also, why did you pick the current high price and call it "regular". I see plenty of lower prices even in your link. But, like I said, they all bought them from Bunnings, so of course they're putting in a markup.

  • +1

If its anything like its cousin - https://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-one-18v-5-0ah-cordless-blo… - its a great blower. I use it every weekend to clean up the garage, after mowing, drying the car and scaring my staffy.

edit you will need a bigger battery in my opinion.

  • +3

Does anyone have any recommendations for a blower that also has vacuum bag as well? The neighbours have a lot of these seeds that drop from their over hanging tree and it's always very tough on my folks cleaning it up, straint on their backs etc, so wanted to get something to help them out.

    • ryobi 36V blower vaccum

  • 2 ah bettary is not enough for sure.

I have few charge so extra charge worths whatever is not appealing to me. Unless people buy it of from me fpr this price. RRP of $69 just $20 on gumtree give or take.

  • …my closest bunnings has sold out and only low stock showing locally. might be an idea to check your stores before heading out to buy

    • +1

Always heaps of these at the Nunawading store if anyone wants to find one

    • Sometimes they will let you do a special order at the sale price as a kind of backdoor raincheck.

  • probably good just for the Charger and spare battery. Sell the blower skin only for ~$30-40 and everybody walks away happy.

  • I have an old blower + whipper snipper prob 6yrs old. The battery says Ryobi 18v Li-ion 2.4ah 18v. The battery has started to loose out on charge on its own so looking to change.

This one says Ryobi One+ - my question is whether this One+ battery will fit in mine old Ryobi set which doesnt says One+? Any thoughts.

    • +1

I've used my One+ battery on my dad's Ryobi blower and it worked fine. His was an older style and had the orange and black battery from memory.

    • Works perfectly well. I have the same blower and whipper snipper.

  • weighs 2kg.. perfect for blow drying a car?

    • +2

You might know if you read the comments!

  • +2

Anyone tried using this for drying a car?

    • +5

      Anyone tried reading the comments?

      • Pretty sure this guy is paying out the guy above.

        If not then smh.

  • +2

    No stock in Melbourne

    • -3

ha…had a feeling this was being DISCONTINUED hence the PRICE DROP.
good for those that grabbed this BARGAIN at $75 (not its NORMAL PRICE) while it lasted… :D

      • +1

Yeah, all the stores in ACT that are showing stock can't seem to find them. I reckon either staff have put them away, or they've been instructed not to sell them

        • Earlier today, Belconnen had 30+ plus units at the front of the store, not down the aisle.

    • Missus bought mine this arvo at Mill Park and reckons there were at least 5 left.

  • If you guy just need the charger and battery then let me know, i am after the blower only. I live in Bankstown area

  • What is it like compared to this which I bought last week. I realise one is battery, another one is petrol.
    https://www.rover.com.au/handhelds/r2mb-jet-blower.html

  • Met a fellow ozbargainer at closest Bunnings where they were sold out.

Went to next bunnings and got one!

    Cheers OP

    • Where did you find it?

      • In South Australia, Woodville store has about 3 left, and Prospect apparently a whole pallet (47 units).

    • Any left at Parafield Gardens?

  • Is this powerful good enough to do garden cleaning (the leaves etc)?

    • …yep. leaves, lawn trimmings, dust & light dirt etc

  • +3

Got one this morning at Halls Head to add to my ryobi line-up. Rang first for check on stock and lady said they had 5 in stock. I ordered one to get picked up by my missus and hey bingo!!! She priced it at $40…😂 Winner winner
