    Cost of eye test?

    • Children must be 12 years old and under and be accompanied by a parent or guardian who is eligible for Medicare on behalf of the child

    • Children should be under Medicare. Mine got done at a behavioural optometrist and didn't cost me anything

  • +1

not necessarily. optometrists are free to charge anything. your medicare entitlents reset and they'r able to check how much they can get from medicar eand charge you accordingly.

  • Any one know how are their glasses?

Similar to the $39 Specsavers ones probably. They look very reasonable until you put them on your face. As someone who has had glasses since year 2, it is important to make sure they fit right and are comfortable. Frames are no doubt a rort (as 90% of all frames around the word are made by one company under different brandnames), but it may be worth spending a bit of extra money to get it right.

$56.80 is probably what the optometrist will get for a bulk-billed consultation, which is 85% of the scheduled fee. Optometry Australia recommended consultation fee for the same is $119.40, but almost all optometrists bulk-bill. If you are under 65 you are only supposed to get an eye test through Medicare every three years, but there are definitely ways around that. They make their money from the glasses mostly.

    • my eye tests have always been bulk billed, no gap.
