@snippy: "Hi there, I signed up for the jb hifi 45 deal yesterday and someone mentioned theres a $10 port in credit available? I swapped two numbers from optus"

          • @Emmydoo: Awesome! Sharing is caring haha

            • +1

@Sittingonthemoon: done! on the 35 plan now :)
took a bit of too-ing and fro-ing but got there. Chat was good.

              Thanks!

              • @snippy: I just spoke to Telstra online chat and they told me the $10 was only available from 26dec to 1jan. Who did you guys speak to? I haven't signed up yet but keen to if i can get it.

                • @glk2000: Just spoke to the online chat myself. I think it's a hit and miss with those guys so try another chat and see

                  • @snippy: Did you chat the guys name you spoke to?

                    • @glk2000: I think it is hit and miss.. Keep trying, unfortunately I didn't note down the name - sorry

        • did u have to wait until u ported over?

Well done, that's combining 3 offers into one! And you're in Telstra with 80gb, that's nuts.

      • I'm travelling in June, had this offer been a little later I would have caught the tax refund too

Cannot believe my luck with these deals!

        Thanks to Ozbargain though.
Otherwise I would have thrown away the junk mail and not paid any attention to the $500 deal in the JB catalogue.

  • If you don't need a phone urgently, Would it not be wise to wait for one month and get the Galaxy S10 5G

I know AU stock will be expensive, but I would rather get the grey import than getting stuck with the previous generation technology

    • All of the leaks suggest the S10 variants that will launch next month won’t be 5G capable - it will be another, even more expensive, variant of the S10 that will launch later in the year that will be 5G capable.

      • It is highly likely that the S10 with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 will have 5G

Any luck getting JB to match the bonus?

    • What bonus you're referring to?

  • +2

The same price is available directly on Google Play too - https://store.google.com/product/pixel_3

  • Harvey norman matching with a bonus chromecast

  • I have just called JB Hifi as someone mentioned they may also have a $0 phone special and the rep confirmed the Telstra $65/mth & 80GB offer is extended to include a free Oppo R17 Pro if anyone is interested in this phone.

I think I will stick to my Note 9 choice - but a huge saving if the Oppo is sufficient for your needs!

  • For anyone wanting to use their Amex deal with Domayne… Looks like they've changed their prices to match the others (no chromecast though…but TBH the screen protection coverage with Amex outright buy is worth it IMO even without chromecast 3)

    • chromecast is on the domayne page?

      • yep and got it…same deal as HN now :)

  • Doesn't apply to 'light' users who shld love this phone…getting a sweet experience.

Can anyone who has this phone anf a power user shed some light around the memory management issue…it only has 4gb RAM even with the recent update I've seen videos of power users (like me), it still forces it to reload apps in memory even as simple as YouTube…when only 4 apps were open total.

Deal breaker for me right now unless others have a different view?

Really shld have been a 6gb RAM phone it seems from all aspects of a power user and questioning the price tag… Something tells me they must be working on a 6gb or 8gb ram phone for the next release with a minimal notch or none to make a decent phone post this one based on all the feedback and reviews.

    Comments appreciated guys!

    • You could have 20gb ram in a phone but if it's not optimized with the whole OS then you get a mediocre experience

I have had a pixel 2xl for almost a year and it feels much responsive and overall a better experience than a mate' S9+. I'll choose a pixel anyday just for the excellent overall experience

      • couldn't agree more with native android…that's why I'm so keen on it, having had Samsungs (Notes + others), LGs (G6) all great phones but lag pretty soon after (hate the bloatware, love the Samsung tech but not the crap they add on top). By all accounts this is under performing when heavily used mainly due to RAM, the recent tweak has helped a lot apparently but doesn't change it's limits around 4GB and reloads of apps right?

        • Never had any issues with reloading recent used apps, they pop back up with no issues. Split screens also work a treat (I do a lot of copy and pasting on my phone)

  • Galaxy S10 Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855 reference phone could run up to 45 percent faster than S9
    https://www.cnet.com/news/galaxy-s10-speeds-kills-last-years…

However the Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855 might be intended only for the US market

Picked up a Pixel 3 64gb + Chromecast at JB, just ask them if they can match HN's offer and they'll most likely say yes.

Got them to match HN's offer at JB Dandenong. Using gift cards, it came to 854!

  • Picked up my XL today from JB Wintergarden in Brisbane for $1151 using RACQ gift cards, and they threw in a free Google branded case as well for free which was nice of them.

However, when I unboxed the phone (which was perfectly sealed and intact) and turned on the phone it appeared to have been set up prior and had no welcome to Pixel screen, instead booting straight to the home screen. I checked the last full charge, and it was performed 111 days ago. Would this phone have been randomly selected in the factory to check for defects, and forgot to factory reset the phone? Has anyone's Pixel 3/XL had this same issue?

  • Picked up the Pixel 3 today at JB Top Ryde and they said they couldn't match the chromecast. Instead, they offered me a discount that brought the phone down to $855.
Works out better for me since I don't need a Chromecast.

  • People with pixels - what cases are you guys going for? I'm wanting a folio/wallet style to cover the front of the face.

    • +1

check out Spigen…love their cases - the thinfit and neo hybrid (outdoors)

for pixel i want to get a deal on the fabric case and couple with an outdoors (activity) case from Spigen like neo hybrid

      • Unfortunately looks like they don't do folio/wallet style cases.

        • yes they don't unfortunately…

BTW HN was willing to do 10-15% off accessories for me FYI guys…in case you want the fabric case and/or the Google stand wireless charger…both expensive.

  • will hn or domayne price match the note 9?
