If you're happy to be on a 2 year contact with Optus, $59/month with 30GB data is probably cheaper in terms of the cost of the phone.

    • You have to be a new customer though. They wouldn't budge on this even slightly for me grr.

    • Telstra usually do a similar deal for Pixel's as well, might be worth considering.

  • Can you insert SD card on the pixel 3? 64 gb is not enough

    • +3

You get unlimited cloud storage for photos of that helps

    • No sd card on pixel phones unfortunately.

  • To be the biggest issue with the pixel 3 & 3 XL is … only 4gb ram. I still don’t think it’s enough for Android, dunno why google is not putting 6gb ram on..

  • +3

    Good price for Pixel 3.
After Pixel 2, I would personally not buy another Pixel device, however.

    • P2 is the best phone I've ever owned.

      • +3

That says more about the other phones you have owned, than it does for the Pixel 2.

        • Samsung Galaxy S
          Samsung Galaxy S3
          Nexus 5
          Nexus 5X
          Pixel 2

Only one I had hardware issues with was the Nexus 5X when it got the inevitable bootloop. Samsungs had crappy Touchwiz.

  • -3

Pixel series are the best android phones you could get currently. Beasts OnePlus, Samsung, huaweis hands down

    • +8

This is an unfortunately popular opinion.

From my experience, the only thing Pixel has over other phones is the camera.

      • +3

And the 'latest' Android OS updates - none of this wait of weeks/months/never with other manufacturers

        • +1

Doesn't help if these updates are half baked, just look at the lazy gesture navigation implementation and dark theme on pie, let's say compared to Oneplus or Samsung.

          • @darkyjaz95: This. Google has been (profanity) up for years in terms of Android software and hardware. Everything has been pretty much dirt since the the death of the Nexus line.

    • Apart from my current Galaxy Note 9 the only other Samsung phone I have owned is a Galaxy S2. The S2's build quality was shit and I avoided Samsung like the plague but when I checked out the Note 9 at a Samsung experience store lately I was surprised how far they've come along. In the past I have owned Sony and HTC and can conveniently say Samsung is pretty good. Their customer service has also improved a lot in the last few years.

I have my own reasons for sticking around with Android and never intend to buy over priced iPhones from a monopolistic Apple.

    • -3

Agreed. Pixel is the only way to go for best experience.

  • +1

Sigh. 2 days too late. Bought an iPhone XS this week and realised I would have preferred a pixel. Anyone wanna buy my phone. :(

    • where did you buy your iphone? if you purchased through apple store or online store, you can ask for a full refund within 14 days.

      • Unfortunately I got it through mobileciti on eBay.

    • just sent you a PM

      i'm interested

    • -1

Yes you are better off with a pixel than a XXL size iPhone 5

  • +11

Over $1000 for an iPhone, wow you must be crazy… oh wait, it’s an Android phone… $1000 for a phone, that’s amazing!

    • +1

      had to +1

      it is quite funny

i did just pay $1200 for a google pixel 3 and am a little concerned that I can pay a few hundred more and get a macbook air

    • -3

Corrected: Over $1500 for an iPhone, wow you must be crazy…

    • +2

Yeah I know. No android phone should crack $900 price point. There's a certain markdown required (compared to apple) for the lack of manufacturer support and higher rate of medium-long term hardware failure.

I say this as an android user. It's just that the prices have become a joke from where they first were.

      • -3

Like how no apple phones should crack $500 for what you get, cause let's be honest an iPhone 6s was the last flagship phone by apple. The improvements year on year upto the X has been pretty lame

  • MAN WTH. I just bought a pixel 3xl 128gb from someone on ebay (used for one and half weeks) on such a massive discount on Sunday that just past and then I see this. gosh darn it I hope what I get in the mail is a brand new pixel still. why oh why oh why do sales just appear after I buy an item!!! I hate myself with my buying choices right now.

    • +1

      ru ok?

  • Which one is best Note 9 or Pixel 3 XL?

  • I JUST cracked the glass on my current pixel, and I'll have had it for two years later this year, so I was thinking I'd upgrade soon. This is a pretty damn good deal.

Anyone know how often the Pixel 3 goes on sale though? Would prefer to wait another 6ish months.

    • +1

they might have the offer again within 6 months considering they've had multiple deals with $200 (either off directly or through giftcards)

  • I've got a Pixel 2XL for 799 one month ago :(

    • +1

That post got a lot of upvotes. Dunno why, it was never a good deal.

  • I dont like shopping through Kogan personally but they have the Samsung s9 Note (midnight black) on sale for $1099 currently.

    • +1

Kogan has the 128GB model for that price. The 512GB is 1499.

      • And theyre likely to be grey imports.

  • +1

This is a good deal as we can expect the Pixel Lite to be around 899

  • +1

Had my eye on a Pixel 3 to replace my old Galaxy S7. This is probably enough to get me to take the plunge, I reckon.

    • Do it.
I upgraded my wife simply to the Pixel 2 from the S7 and even she says its a much better phone, as someone who generally doesn't care or would notice much.
Then there is the camera, if you have kids its an investment you will have wished you made earlier…

      • I actually bought my wife a Pixel 2 for Christmas 2017. Switched her over from her old iPhone and she loves it. Haven't had any issues with build quality etc that others have referred to - it hasn't missed a beat so far.

  • Wonder if amazon will beat the price?

    • They don't currently sell the pixel 3.

  • +1

Still expensive for Pixel 3. I was choosing between Pixel 3 and Samsung S9+ to replace my Samsung S8 last week, the only thing Pixel impressed me was the front camera, other than that it's a very basic Android phone with cheap looking outside and somehow the system is very weird to use compare to Samsung. So I bought a S9+ without any hesitate.

  • Hopefully the telcos follow suit on their 24 month plans.

My wife is using the Nexus 6P and it's still going along strong (2nd device as 1st had the battery shutdown issue)

EDIT: I forgot about the Optus deal for a Pixel 3 for $59p.m FOR NEW CUSTOMERS ONLY. So frustrating. We're out of contract and can't get the deal. What difference does it make.

    • you can, ask them through chat to change your number to prepaid and then you should be eligible.

    • Port out and port back in.

  • Anyone have a link to the full cataloge? Wondering if they are having any sales on the ps4 pro.

  • Hey guys,

Anyone know if it's possible to do a tax refund at the airport if I buy this with gift cards?

I got the Amex offer for domayne so I pay $750 on my card and if they price match it after cash back it's $600.

The remaining $149 I can buy a gift card at 5% cheaper so additional $7 saved.

And then tax refund for $80+.

Ends up costing under $700 after all the cash backs.

    Thoughts?

    • +1

Yes, you will get full GST back at the airport, as it doesnt matter how you pay provided you have a tax invoice.

    • Checked my Amex offer HN domayne is clearly excluded…another poster suggested the same earlier

So wouldn't bet on that as a benefit.

      • Ah crap.. Im not too sure what the difference is. So is domayne (without the HN) the ones that just sell furniture?

      • Here's the T&C:

Excludes all payments made at Harvey Norman @ Domayne (Alexandria, Auburn, Belrose and North Ryde), Harvey Norman Commercial Division and Harvey Norman Insurance Replacement Division

I live in Melbourne, does it mean Domayne QV works?

        • Safest bet is to go to Domayne online and buy some gift cards with your Amex card then use these gift cards in store or online to buy the phone. That’s what I did.

          • @ShootingStar3388: Thanks for the tip. I don't think it'll work because I'd have to go into store to get them to price match. Don't think it can be done online? The 2 domaynes in Melbourne don't carry electronics.

            • @cantthinkofone: After purchasing the Domayne giftcards, go into HN to attempt price match, get phone, get tax invoice claim your GST.

              • @timetoquit: Legend. Thanks a lot. I forgot that domayne gift cards can be used at HN too. I'll give that a try!

      • +1

As per in the other thread, go to domayne, buy the gift cards, then go back to harvery norman and spend them. I did this, and I can guarantee it works, I got my cashback

        • Thanks all, I bought 2 and got the email from AmEx for cash back. Domayne gift cards processed within 15 minutes.

        • Cheers for the tip. Will do!

No need. Domayne now has bonus chromecast also!

  • +1

    Combine with this deal?

Down to $699 or even less. Any reason this couldn't work?

    • that would be great, I would jump on this if that is the case

    • +2

Im going to speak to telstra today if i get the chance. Great value!

      • let us know how it goes! I have some JB Hifi vouchers to use as well which would make this an amazing deal for me

        • +1

So went into JB (I didn't realise it doesn't involve a telstra shop at all) and have ported my number across, I can get my phone tomorrow with the voucher. They are separate deals that dont affect each other apparently.

          • @Emmydoo: I am going in tomorrow then :) You got me excited! Thanks!!
            Prob go on the 12 month $45 dollar plan, so I can get the Google Pixel 3 64gb $899 - 200 = $699
That means in a year I am off contract for like… $1239 not bad.

I have not included my JB giftcards in there too.
Sucks I don't travel till mid April.

            • +1

@snippy: I did the 45 plan too. Thought about the 65 plan but my calculations based on what we spend now and even a very generous increase in data use see us getting more value from a cheaper plan than a more discounted phone up front.

          • +1

@Emmydoo: Yep so with the $45 BYO, you get a $200 gift card (so can be used on literally anything from JB). This makes it more flexible as you don't have to buy a phone when you sign up for the plan.

With the $65 BYO, you don't receive a gift card, however you can get a 'phone credit' which can only be applied to a phone (it's tied to the IMEI so we make sure you're 100% certain before we go ahead). As such if you want to take full advantage of the 65, you should be buying a phone as well.

            • @Shekster: did the exact same thing as @Emmydoo today.
Only one white 64GB Pixel 3 left in my local store so was happy :)

    • Maybe OP can add this info to the deal?

    • Nope no reason why not, in fact we are really hoping you guys come along and take advantage of the BYO deals to nab yourself a great phone, with a great plan, at a great price.

Not gonna give anything else away but there may or may not be a certain phone for $0 outright if you go on the $65 BYO… (Won't be the Pixel don't worry)

      • Do you know if JB will match the Harvey Norman offer in any way?

    • If anyone in Melbourne just wants the $65 BYO plan but not the phone, message me and we can split the savings.

    • $699 + 12*$45 = $1239. You'll be paying $103.25 per month.

Isn't the Optus $59 plan for 24 months ($1416 total) better?

      • +1

One of those spreads the cost over 12 months and one over 24, so it's not the best comparison. If you keep the pixel for 24 months the cost is much lower. It worked out in my situation to be about 65pm which I'm happy with as I can sell and up grade my phone after 12 months if I want 😁

  • I've got a Pixel 2 XL 128GB and very happy, thought about upgrading but there is only minor differences and selling a used phone can be a pain. Especially Pixels, they're not as well known as Apple/Samsung.

  • That Note 9 is the Telstra variant, so not the Hybrid SIM model going off the description in the add

  • Any chance we can see the full catalogue online or OP can upload it.

  • Any idea when the sale goes on until?

    • It says in the OP if you bothered reading it; until the 27th …

  • This is a rebate that will be processed back to each store, so they won't do advanced sales as it would mean a loss of $300. They will however if you ask nicely hold one for you, so you can pick it up tomorrow. Good times. Pixel 3 for me, going to replace a S7 edge that has a cracked screen. The 3 XL looks nice and would be great if I wanted to watch movies, but I only really will use it for the phone, photos and whatsapp

    • +1

I swapped to Telstra through them today so tomorrow when I go in to purchase I will get an extra 200 off with that promo :)

  • Of course JB puts the Note on sale just after I buy from Allphones..

  • Buy pixel 3 now, or wait for s9 sale, or wait for further pixel 3 reductions?

    • Pixel 3 for sure. It doesn't lag like Samsungs after 6 months of use or get slowed down on purpose through Apples iOS firmware updates

  • Discount prices are now up on the JBHIFI webstore.

  • Harney Norman is now showing the Pixel 3 from 899 and the XL from 1049, both with bonus Chromecast!

    https://www.harveynorman.com.au/phones-accessories-gps/phone…

    • Gahhh, just bought from JB.

But, I already have a Chromecast on every TV, four Google Home Minis… And Jerry is evil.

      Looking forward to pickup tomorrow.

    • Hopefully JB will follow suit with the bonus.

    • I don't see the bonus on my phone? Desktop only? Or have they removed?

      • Harvey Norman shows - only for the black colour though.

  • Harvey Norman has joined the party with a bonus Chromecast

Went in to JB Perth today, explained I would like this deal and the telstra $65 plan with $500 phone credit.

The guy signed me up on the spot, scanned in the note 9 but I can't pick up until tomorrow.

When I got home I jumped on telstra chat and requested my $10 port in credit, received no issues!

    So I'm now on a $55/mth & 80GB telstra plan with a 512gb note 9 all up cost $799 for phone

    • When I got home I jumped on telstra chat and requested my $10 port in credit, received no issues!

      how did u get this?

      • I wanted to move to them sometime last week and they said they would give me the $10 credit, so I got on chat after JB signed me up and asked for my promised credit..

I do however have home internet with Telstra, that might help too

        • +2

I signed up on the 45 plan yesterday and thanks to your post just got the credit as well! 10/10 top deal sourcing.

          • @Emmydoo: Ahhh this post just keeps giving!
            I'll try that today too.
            What did you say?
