  • What can you do with 200k amplify?

Can you transfer over to QFF?

    • +4

No Qantas has their own Amplify card.
This will convert to Velocity at 2:1.
So effectively 100,000 Velocity points on this offer

  • how much are those point worth?

    • depends what you use them for.
If you redeem for physical products, hundreds of dollars?
Convert them to some other loyalty program (QFF, Velocity etc), you'll probably get half the points.
Redeem them for (woolies) WISH gift cards, almost $900. 205,200 = $900

  • How much for Min income to apply ? I got rejected last time by St George

And 200,000 Amplify Points equals to how many Qantas or Virgin Points ?

    Thank you.

I think the transfer rate for is 2 Amplify points for 1 Velocity, KrisFlyer or Malaysian Enrich point. I don't think this is a good value as it seems.

One thing I always notice bar the old American Express rates is that Banks own point systems are always worse then airline ones for value as you usually need more points to get the same benefit.

      Signature cards are minimum $75k.

      • Could you pls give me links of the card with 75k ?

I couldnt' find anywhere saying min 75k$.

Annual fee is so expensive 179$ :(

        • +1

$75k for Visa Signature cards is standard across the industry. The minimum credit limit on Signature cards starts at $15k so you need a decent income to support it.

          • @lolcoaster: I have both these cards last year so I dont think I could apply again soon.

Just haven't had any card with St George. I tried to apply last year but got rejected :(

  • +1

Do you have to wait a whole year to get credited the first 100k? That's kind of unappealing if that's the case.

  • +1

What if after one year (or sooner), they devalue the earned point and reduce the transfer rate as Amex did? I have a feeling that it is going to happen soon as St George is heavily promoting this card.

200,000 bonus Amplify Points split over 2 years, when you spend $12,000 on eligible purchases within each year (12 months).

Bahaha yeah nah, talk about keeping you on the line for a relatively small pay off.

If you were thinking of converting these Amplify points to Velocity points, you can get 80,000 velocity points from this ANZ Travel Rewards deal, along with a free return flight in Aus - much better deal I think.

    Summary

    • $75,000 income requirement
    • Up to 200,000 amplify points (converts to 100,000 velocity points) when you spend $24,000 over 2 years ($2,000 each month)
    • First year $0 annual fee
    • Second year $279 annual fee
    • 4 lounge passes over 2 years
    • Assuming you want velocity points: 0.75 point per $ spent (so 18,000 velocity points from doing the min spend of $24,000 over 2 years)

So $24,000 min spend + $279 annual fee in 2nd year for 100,000 bonus velocity points.. And the hassle of keeping the card for 2 years, remembering to put 2k at least on it each month etc.

    • +1

I think it is $1k not $2k per month

    • Up to 200,000 amplify points (converts to 100,000 velocity points) when you spend $24,000 over 2 years ($2,000 each month)

it's not 2k per month as such, 12k per year that is 1k per month each year, see copy-paste from PH below:

Up to 200,000 Amplify Points, when you spend $12,000 on eligible purchases each year for the first 2 years of approval

agree with you that this deal is inferior to the general offer from St George

      • Agree, my bad. So $24,000 over 2 years is $1,000 per month min spend.
I’ll check with MathsNerd before posting a comment next time :)

  • +7

No deal unless you're looking to make a long term commitment to St George. 12 months until you get 50k VA points, then you have to pay $279 for the other 50k in another 12 months time? I'll pass!

  • Anyone know the minimum credit limit on this card ?

    • 15000

      • $15,000 at time of application. I was able to then reduce mine to $2,000 when I received the card (from the other deal - 80,000 bonus QFF points for $0 annual fee in first year).

If you’re worried about impact on future lending, reducing the credit limit may be helpful

        • +2

How did you get it down to 2k?

          • @[Deactivated]: Via the suncorp app. Logon —> settings —> change credit limit (min is 1k despite the application terms stating 15k)

  • "The bonus points will be credited to your points balance within 12 weeks after the eligible spend criteria is met."

    https://www.stgeorge.com.au/personal/credit-cards/rewards/am…

  • No deal.

The title implies it has no fee, yet you get stung with a fee in the second year, to get the total points.

    • -2

Can't you spend $1000/month from January and then after you've spent the $1000 in December, cancel before you're charged the fee for the following January? You should still get the points, including December's points, right?

  • No mention of what the 2nd year annual fee is in OP.

  • Interesting interesting….
mmmm have to take it carefully into consideration

  • Can anyone point me somewhere that outlines what they're classifying as "eligible purchases" I feel like I've had a relatively good look at T&C's and other boring st George docs but maybe I'm missing something that lays it out. Cheers 😊

  • eligible purchases means not a bpay purchase or any payments made through the BPAY electronic payments scheme. Also no government charges such as ato, land tax
