Kogan 55" OLED Smart 4K HDR TV for $1099 Delivered @ Kogan

TVTIME

Not as good as the previous deal here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/427145 but I think it's still a good price for a 55 inch OLED TV. Not sure about the quality or features though.

If you really want an OLED I'd save up and get something better. This one reviews poorly and turns itself off every few hours to stop burn in.

Hope you're not a movie buff because with this TV you can't even watch LOTR Return of the King Extended Edition without the TV requiring a rest

I bought this at $999 and for the price, I'm fairly happy. The picture is amazing and the sound is decent for a TV (for my room size at least).

It does have some issues though.
It does warn you for about 2 minutes to turn off for 7 minutes every 4 hours - This can be dismissed but then does return every 30 - 60 minutes. If you have the remote close by, it's only a slight annoyance. You can just turn it back on if you miss the prompt and then it won't alert for another 4 hours. I always skip this anyway when I am actually watching it and I am yet to see any burn in (had it for only a month), however image retention can stick around for a minute or two if looking at static images.

The screen is reflective when there's no image, I can have all curtains open on a bright day and the image is bright enough to block it out, however if theres a window directly facing the screen, you'd probably need to close it.

It turns on fairly quickly (5s to a picture), however takes about 30s to respond on the remote and sound doesn't always kick in straight away (can be up to 5 - 10s).

It's an older version of Android TV which I don't use the interface for as I have a Telstra TV2 and a PS4, but it can be sluggish - especially in the first minute or two. I have requested to Kogan to get an Android update from Konka - but this probably will never happen.

I'd suggest that it's worth it if your budget is $1100 for a TV and you have a device like a Telstra TV. I doubt you'll get a better image at this price - however if you can afford the B8 or even C8, they will be much better.

    Why?

  • Energy Consumption 719kWh per year
    Energy Rating 1.5 Star

    This is terrible!

  • Saw they no longer have the OLED on their website. Must have been told to get rid of it. There would be so many issues with that TV along with the usual OLED issues exaggerated even more because it's Kogan. Consumer Affairs would have a field day!
