Musashi P High Protein Powder, 375g Vanilla $8.97 (RRP $29.90) (Free Shipping over $50) @ Chemist Warehouse

50

Here is a great deal for a protein powder from a good brand. I went into the Chatswood store today and there were a few left but it's also available online and it's pretty cheap for a decent protein powder.

66 grams of protein per 100

    Pretty pathetic mate.

Bulk nutrients is where its at. ~90% protons or its a no from me.

      • noob checking in.
You are referring to wpi right? and are the cheap wpi not famous ones on ebay any good?
e.g. "Sports Supplement Direct" and "Pure-Product"

        • +1

I guess it depends on what you need it for. Cheaper WPC is good for gaining weight - ie you're skinny or skinny-fat. If you're muscle-fat or just fat WPI is better as its mostly protein. The other thing to consider is appetite - I have a massive appetite and I'd rather eat my carbs - the protein shakes for me are just recovery/to hit protein intakes without eating truckloads of chicken. To me though WPC has to be really cheap to consider it as you could pay a bit more and then you can eat your carbs and enjoy it a lot more. I recommend bulk nutrients because prices are very fair compared to brand names in stores, the factory is in tassie and they are australian owned and operated and using a lot of aussie based ingredients. Australian made isn't necessarily a guarantee of quality, but I've had nothing but good experiences with these guys - never tried ebay stuff - just bulk nutrients and when I was in new zealand dymatize (because it was all i could get around 90%).

          • @Wilburre: I'm not too fat, just need to lose a little weight and I want to gain lean mass. I think I'll trial WPI first. Yeh I noticed bulk nutrients was in tassie, also that brand on ebay I mentioned "Pure-Product Australia" seems to be an Australian manufacturer and supplier too haha. Dymatize a lot of people recommend too but it is too expensive for me.
Thanks for your great and invaluable advice Wilburre!

            • @brokeman: no worries. one thing to consider is if you have problems processing dairy bulk nutrients also have dairy free options - plant proteins and their future whey and protein matrix products. i havn't tried them yet personally - I'll be making an order soon for some of their thermo whey to have pre or post workout.

90% protons or its a no from me.

Thorium has 90 protons. Is that a yes from you?

        • 90% protons. Only one I can think of is Hydrogen. Most others have close to a 50/50 proton:neutron mix.

        • haha i'm all for thorium breeder reactors

  • Another item with huge savings. Red krill oil 1000mg

Don't know how useful these actually are

  • You must be new here…

8 serves for $9 ($1.12 per serve) versus 97c per serve for Bulk Nutrients WPC (including shipping). Each serve of the Musashi has 3600mg of leucine so it's pretty high quality protein. What difference if you have to take a 45g scoop instead of a 30g scoop. If you're trying to lose weight then it's worse than BN because it has more calories. If you're eating low carb it's worse than BN because there's a lot more carbs but if you're eating a maintenance diet and want some extra protein during the day this is going to have the same effect.

There is some evidence that having carbs with your protein promotes muscle protein synthesis.

This is outrageously priced at $30 RRP and not compelling at this price either.

+1 because this is good advice

  • I won't NEG it, but it's not a bargain. I paid $12 per kg for the Musashi Shred and Burn Protein at Chemist Warehouse the other day.

  • What’s a good protein shake for my Mrs who is gonna go to Gym just to tone not build mussel or loose weight if that makes sense

    • +2

One that she likes the taste of enough to use it and that doesn't have a load of sugar or other useless calories.

The Bulk Nutrients WPC is a great choice but I can't help with the flavor.

Look at the BCAA panel (if there isn't one move on) for leucine and it should be over 3000mg per serve. Then look at the carbs and fat, they should be relatively low (the BN WPC is a good comparison).

No need to go with WPI, stay away from mass builders and from anything with wild claims like fat burner.

      • Ok thanks I’ll let her know
Sounds kinda confusing as there are soo many different ones out there

Muscle Pharm COMBAT. Best tasting ever, all flavours.

Tone and not build muscle :))) and not lose fat. I won't comment on that predicament.

    • +1

'Tone' and 'toning' are myth garbage marketing buzz words. No such thing.

      • -1

Well she doesn’t want to loose weight and she doesn’t want to build big mussel
She just wants to tone up so we are trying to find the perfect one for this

        • you can't 'tone up' without losing fat to reveal the muscles that was hidden underneath the flab.

          • +2

@waterbottled: Or build muscle, so the size increase shows through.

PS: ABS are made in the kitchen.

        • if she knows how to build big muscle just by going to the gym, she is onto a billion dollar idea. Literally a billion because everyone in the world would want to know how one can build big muscles just by drinking protein powder and working out in a gym.

      • +1

Agree. Tone = building muscle and losing fat. Usually better to be done in separate cycles. Most girls are scared of doing weights because they think they'll become the incredible hulk after a few sessions but the reality is far from it - it takes years and years of specific training and dieting for professional body builders to get to their state (and testosterone).

    • build mussel or loose weight if that makes sense

Build muscle or lose weight. That makes more sense.

      • -1

        Ahhh got ya now

Well yer loose some weight but not heaps to become mussely

        • +2

Lol mate, I don't think you get it yet. *Muscle and *Lose. Mussel is what you find at the beach

          • +1

            @Scope: HahAha I didn’t notice I did that

  • Musashi has always tasted like poo when I have had it.

    • +1

So it would be fair to say that poo tastes like Musashi

      • thanks guys saved me an experiment
