[QLD] Switch Your CTP Insurance to QBE and Get up to $50 Back on an EFTPOS Card (New Customers, Aged 30+)

720

Suncorp has $30 gift card if you're with QBE already: https://www.suncorp.com.au/insurance/ctp.html

Over 30?

How would you like a voucher of up to $50 in value simply by switching your CTP to QBE?

CTP Insurance is mandatory in Queensland, and is included as part of vehicle registration. Sometimes known as rego insurance, CTP covers you by providing compensation for other people seriously injured or killed in the event of an accident and you are the at fault driver.

  • Gift card is only available to new QBE CTP customer for their first year. It is not available to existing customers.

  • 1 car per customer?

    • I wanna know this too, does anyone know?

      • +1

I got 2 vehicles with SUN CTP and switched both to QBE CTP 12 months. Got 2x $25 cards coming mid year. Thanks for the reminder OP.

Up to $50 - their calculator is only giving me $25

    • +2

Same here, once I filled in my details on the calculator it mentioned $25 gift card not $50.

    • Did you select 6 months for your rego repayment?

      • +2

        12, ending in Dec

      • 12 months as my rego is due in late Nov

  • +2

it only offered me $25 EFTPOS gift card maybe becuase my rego due dec 30th?

    • Same here, my rego is due early Nov.

  • +2

Yeah only $25 here. How can you get $50?

    Maybe different suburb?

Oh well $25 is still $25

    • $30 from suncorp as another option

      • +1

        Looks like a better option

  • NO Love for other state

    • +2

That's because we are the "smart state" 🤣

    • Not needed in WA (well, its included as part of our car rego).

      • How much is the cost of rego?

It may be better as people have no choice of which one to pick

        • It depends on the car (sorry, not sure off hand).

  • +3

Reward amount seems to be linked to your postcode. I got $25 for postcode 4051 (Brisbane suburb) and $50 for 4558 (Sunshine Coast suburb). Perhaps $50 is reserved for more regional areas?

    • will it be alright to tell them them wrong suburb to get 50?

    • Not linked to 6 monthly or yearly rego?

      • for 12 months and 4006 suburb it gives me only $25

CTP Insurance is a scam only 4 insurers offer it and they all set it at the same price. I don't why our spineless ACCC has not taken them to court for price fixing.

    • +8

The price of CTP insurance is regulated in QLD and any new entrant to this space in the state must be licensed by the government.

The situation is perfectly legal. There is no need for the ACCC to intervene.

      • They should de-regulate it. How can you have 4 companies offering the same policy at the same price. It's price fixing and it's against the law.

        • +2

They should make Comprehensive Insurance COMPULSORY and merge the CTP with it to truly reduce the cost of insurance through market forces. Comprehensive is not compulsory so you have freedom of choice to "self-insure" - but CTP IS compulsory (via rego) to ensure the freedom lovers can pay should they maime or cause death to fellow motorists. There are only 4 CTP insurers so the price has to be regulated (fixed) to avoid an insurance cartel (no pun intended).

      facts?
we don't need no stinking facts!

  • Same here $25 only .

  • 2 cars makes it $50 :)

    • +4

Thanks Cap, got $500 for 10 cars

  • Unfortunately you don’t qualify for any additional rewards..
You can still nominate QBE as your CTP provider.

This is for 6 months … $25 for 12 months rego and I live in the city

    • I got the same message but I am under 30. Are you in QLD, over 30 and don't have QBE for CTP already?

      • Yes I am from BNE and dont have QBE already and over 30

  • Luckily my husband turned 30 last year, I'm not old enough for this offer just yet but we have two cars with joint registration :) Qualified for $50 for one car 12 months Toowoomba 4350.

  • Yup, $25 here too. Can't be bothered for that price.

    • Beer money - just don't drink and drive.

  • 25 for my postcode. would rather go with suncorp

    • Agree Went with $30 from Suncorp for two vehicles, and looks like two $30 cards are on their way to me

      Thanks for sharing

i switch every year between QBE and suncorp….

    • Yeah same, but they used to do it for 6 month as well. So got 25 from QBE and 30/50 from Suncorp each year.

  • The test of any insurance - rarely applied in reviews - is if they actually pay out when needed as per the policy. Price is pointless if they don't pay out. After reviewing lots of companies it seems they only pay out if you're a long time customer or have lots of policies with them - they've already made lots of money from you, and will probably continue to do so after the payout. If it's your first year, good luck. Profit is the only issue with them - nothing else. I'm talking insurance companies in general. MAIB - totally different and awesome.

I did quotes for CTP, GIO is the cheapest. Depending on if QBE is $50 or more expensive then this deal makes no diff.

If QBE is like $20 more and you get $30 difference then it's ok.

Next year for sure I will change to someone else.

There's absolutely no loyalty with insurers. They don't give incentive to existing customers as seen on this deal.

All they care are new sign ups.

Anyhow this is QLD only I guess other states just don't care

    • +5

All CTP in QLD are the same price.

  • Unfortunately you don’t qualify for any additional rewards..
You can still nominate QBE as your CTP provider.

This is for 6 months … $25 for 12 months rego and I live on the Gold Coast and over 30.

  • Just did my rego yesterday. Was with Suncorp last year and switched to QBE for this renewal. Didn't know about this deal - did I need to fill something out or does this EFTPOS card just get sent out regardless? The link given is only for Suncorp, thus not informative in my case. Cheers
